Posted: 28 Sep 2013 11:39 PM PDT The face of dictatorial progressive socialism … Senator and Majority Leader Harry Reid … a man who refuses to entertain Republican amendments to bills and rules the progressive socialist democrats with an iron fist. A corrupt man whose ethics appear to be severely compromised. Many believe that Reid, out of spite, will not call the Senate into session until the last minute to reject the vote – theatrically enhancing the drama surrounding a bill that accomplishes little, but kicking the can down the road for a month or so. What will Harry Reid do?  House delays Obamacare as shutdown near House Republicans forced through a short-term government funding bill that delays Obamacare and permanently repeals a tax on medical devices, setting up their most dramatic face-off ever with President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats. The vote to delay Obamacare was 231-192, with two Republicans voting against the bill, while two Democrats supported it.  The Republicans opposed to the bill were New York Reps. Chris Gibson and Richard Hanna, and the Democrats who supported the measure were North Carolina Rep. Mike McInytre and Utah Rep. Jim Matheson. The move represents a complete about-face by Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and the House Republican leadership. They wanted to shift the focus of health care and budgetary squabbles onto the debt ceiling fight, but conservative Republicans honed in on the government funding battle. This strategy — forced upon Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) by the conservative rank-and-file — dramatically increased the chances of a government shutdown come Oct. 1. “The House has again passed a plan that reflects the American people’s desire to keep the government running and stop the president’s health care law,” Boehner said in a post-vote statement. Repealing the medical device tax will save jobs and delaying the president’s health care law for all Americans is only fair given theexemptions the White House has granted to big businesses and insurance companies.” He added: “Now that the House has again acted, it’s up to the Senate to pass this bill without delay to stop a government shutdown.” The House also passed a bill to fund U.S. troops in case of a shutdown. The chamber further adopted a “conscience clause” that postpones until 2015 an Obamacare requirement that employers cover birth control as part of their health-insurance packages. Their funding resolution keeps government open until Dec. 15 at a level of $986 billion. Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) have already warned that the GOP proposal is unacceptable. Reid may not even bring back the Senate into session until Monday afternoon — just hours before a shutdown would begin — to reject the GOP proposal. “Today’s vote by House Republicans is pointless,” Reid said in a statement. “As I have said repeatedly, the Senate will reject any Republican attempt to force changes to the Affordable Care Act through a mandatory government funding bill or the debt ceiling. Here is HHS touting competitive cost savings – lower than originally predicted … Premiums on Obamacare marketplaces beat expectations, report shows When open enrollment begins on the online, state-based marketplaces established under Obamacare, premiums nationwide are expected to be around 16 percent lower than originally predicted, the U.S. Health and Human Services Department said in a new report released Wednesday.   The administration sees the lower-than-expected premiums as a sign that the plan to drive down health costs for consumers by increasing competition is working. They also point to the insurers entering the individual health insurance market for the first time as a sign of strong competition, as well as the variety of plans that will be available on the market. For families nationwide, "these new options will finally make health insurance work within their budget," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters Tuesday. She noted that, according to the report, six in 10 uninsured Americans will be able to find coverage for less than $100 a month, while the average consumer in one of the 36 states with a federally-run marketplace will be able to choose from an average of 53 different plans. NC Company to Gain Monopoly under Obamacare Exchanges -- Blue Cross Blue Shield and Coventry to be the Only Providers in North Carolina to Offer Obamacare Insurance Exchanges Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement after receiving news that health insurance monopolies are forming as a result of Obamacare in North Carolina: "We are now four days away from Obamacare's implementation and each moment, we are receiving new reports as to how devastating this law will be for the men and women of North Carolina. Yesterday, we discovered that health insurance rates are expected to triple for women and quadruple for men in North Carolina once this law goes into effect. Today, we were informed that virtual monopolies are now being created to sell this poison pill to our people." "We were promised lower costs and more competition. Yet Obamacare is doing the exact opposite. The whole point of an online marketplace was to provide options, so North Carolinians could go online, compare prices, and choose plans from different companies. That is how competition is supposed to work! Although seven insurance companies currently operate in North Carolina, under the new Obamacare exchanges, those options will dwindle down to one in the majority of counties." Starting October 1st, only two insurance companies will offer health insurance in North Carolina. Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) will offer insurance in all 100 counties while Coventry (now owned by Aetna) will not be available in the eastern part of the state. Coventry will only offer insurance in 39 counties, leaving BCBS of North Carolina with a monopoly in the remaining 61 counties. The variety will be even less pronounced in the exchange set up for small groups - the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) with only BCBS offering plans in 2014, according to Tracy Baker, Carolinas CEO for Coventry. The Associated Press reported this morning that in North Carolina, over 60 percent of the counties will have only one insurance provider to choose from when the Obamacare insurance exchanges go live in just 4 days: "Only Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina will offer insurance plans available statewide on the exchange. The only other company selling coverage on North Carolina's exchange is Coventry Health Care of the Carolinas. It plans to offer plans on the exchange in 39 counties, including rural ones and those that include Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, Asheville and Fayetteville. Aetna acquired Coventry in May." "North Carolina shoppers also will have fewer than half the policies to choose from than the average of 53 plans across the 36 states." But, then again, that is the socialist plan – to create a chaotic and unworkable system that can be resolved only with a complete government takeover of healthcare in the United States under a socialistic one-payer system.
