Here’s a look at the major news from the week, which saw the Speaker working to pass a balanced budget, pressing for the truth on Benghazi & the IRS, talking about the importance of mentoring, and much more.

Weekly Address: More Jobs & Better Pay for All Americans

In this week’s Republican address, House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) says the president’s policies aren’t working for women and details the better solutions Republicans are offering to help create jobs and boost wages for all Americans.

“For women across America, it’s not just about equal pay.  It’s about achieving a better life. And Republicans are acting on solutions to make that happen. Solutions that will empower women and eliminate barriers they face… Instead of politicizing women, let’s celebrate the extraordinarily positive role they play in our economy – and focus on how we can further expand that role.”

Pressing For the Truth on Benghazi & the IRS

On Monday in an interview with Megyn Kelly and again on Thursday at his weekly press conference, Speaker Boehner said the Obama administration should stop stonewalling and tell the American people the truth about Benghazi and the IRS.

“The American people have not been told the truth about what happened at the IRS. … The administration has not told the American people the truth about Benghazi. We’ve been going through all of these hearings, having to hold people in contempt, because they’ve made it impossible to get to the documents.  They have not been forthcoming.  They owe the American people the truth.”

The Choice: Two Budgets, Two Futures

On Thursday, the House passed a balanced budget that delivers for hardworking taxpayers.  It cuts Washington spending, implements reforms to boost jobs and growth, and makes the tough decisions to secure our future.  See how our vision stacks up against the president’s budget.
