True enough, but what they refuse to say is that K-12 (and soon to be pre-K) education in California is controlled by corrupt unions that are all about siphoning money out of the state treasury, rewarding seniority over merit, ignoring rank incompetence, pursuing the status quo rather than innovation, and pursue greater wages and benefits without an corresponding increase in educational effectiveness or efficiency. In fact, the teachers’ unions fear competency testing in both teaching skills and subject-matter knowledge. It is no secret that the unions are all in for the progressive socialist democrats and have pushed citizens away from the bargaining table – in essence they bargain with their bought and paid for politicians who are willing to sell out our children and their future in return for campaign funds and voter support. Politicians running scared lest the unions fund a competitor who offers them a better deal. So here we have Governor Moonbeam, a silver-spoon aging hippy who has never worked a day in his life, putting his signature to a bill that, once again, avoids the responsibility for educating our children and giving a pass to the unions and another decade of functional illiterates.    California exit exam abolished, diplomas to be awarded   Upending a hallmark of California school reform, Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday signed a bill that will award diplomas to thousands of young people who failed the California High School Exit Exam in the past decade. The new law, which takes effect in January, will allow former high school students who failed the test as far back as 2004 to now graduate, as long as they passed all of their required high school classes. The new law effectively undoes the decade-old requirement, imposed after a hard and bitter fight, that students pass a standardized exam in order to earn a high school diploma in California. SB 172 by Sen. Carol Liu, D-La Cañada Flintridge, also suspends the exam as a graduation requirement for current freshmen, sophomores and juniors. It passed the Legislature on a partisan vote, with Republicans objecting. Other than hiding the fact that union-controlled education in California is an abject failure due to the policies of corrupt progressive socialist democrats like Jerry Brown and his cadre of fellow socialists, it appears that many illegal aliens educated in California are unable to apply for jobs because they lack the minimal requirement: a high school diploma. Bottom line … If progressive socialist democrats are deliberately, with malice aforethought, willing to dumb-down California’s educational requirements, supply a revisionist history, and substitute socially-relevant content on sexual perversion in place of core educational elements (reading, writing, arithmetic, history, civics, etc.) then there is only one conclusion: we are so screwed. The sooner progressive socialist democrats are purged from government, in the leadership and the bureaucracy, the sooner we will begin to swing away from a government-dependent underclass to a self-sufficient populace that relies on individualism rather than collectivism. -- steve
