After vowing to end two wars, Obama may leave three behind

President Obamas decision to expand the U.S. war effort in Iraq and Syria is a reflection of the conflicting pressures on a commander in chief.

US Troop Deployment to Syria Frustrates Anti-Assad Rebels

You'll help the Kurds but you won't help us?  Did you work a deal with Putin?

ISTANBUL - Washington's decision to dispatch U.S. commandos to northern Syria to help coordinate the fight against the Islamic State terror group is roiling increasingly tense relations between the Obama administration and the main Western-backed Syrian political opposition, as well as Sunni Arab rebels whose priority is to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Immigrants caught crossing border think they can stay in US and collect benefits
Thanks, Dave

Hundreds of immigrant families caught illegally crossing the Mexican border between July and September told US immigration agents they made the dangerous trip in part because they believed they would be permitted to stay in the United States and collect public benefits.

The interviews with immigrants by federal agents were intended to help the Obama administration understand what might be driving a puzzling surge in the numbers of border crossings that started over the summer.

The Death of the American Welfare State

The welfare state has been spending more money with an unsustainable demographic imbalance.

There are fewer working families supporting more elderly, immigrants and broken families.

The Russians invest money into increasing the native birth rate. Instead we fund Planned Parenthood because liberal economic eugenics dictates that we should extract "full value" from working women as a tax base to subsidize the welfare state while discarding the next generation.

Germany: "20 Million Muslims by 2020"

Muslims were angered at this depiction in a German carnival parade -  Reality versus Cliche.  As the saying goes, if the shoe fits, put it on!

"We are importing Islamic extremism, Arab anti-Semitism, national and ethnic conflicts of other peoples, as well as a different understanding of society and law." From a leaked German intelligence document.

"The migration crisis has the potential to destabilize governments, countries and the whole European continent. ... What we have been facing is not a refugee crisis. This is a migratory movement composed of economic migrants, refugees and also foreign fighters"

GOP Media Takedown: A Recipe for Victory
Thanks, Dave

A leader can gain power by rallying the people against a boogeyman. And it helps when that boogeyman is real.

Every candidate that joined Ted Cruz in the phalanx against the media Wednesday seemed like an anti-establishment outsider bravely fighting the powers-that-be.

Putin Says Global Warming Is A Fraud
Thanks, Dave

Putin believes there is no global warming, this is a fraud to restrain the industrial development of several countries, including Russia. That is why this subject is not topical for the majority of the Russian mass media and society in general.

Why Liberals Identify with Criminals
Thanks, Dave

Liberals hate cops, honest citizens with guns, and hard sentencing laws because liberals identify with criminals. When visiting a Federal prison Obama summarized the view of liberals when he said: These are young people who made mistakes that arent that different than the mistakes I made and the mistakes that a lot of you guys made."

Why California is a state of death
Thanks, Dave

Shortly after signing a bill allowing assisted suicide in California, Democrat Governor Jerry Brown signed another measure that forces pregnancy crisis centers to "offer information about affordable contraception, abortion and prenatal care."

California Is Dying

The great American land of opportunity is devolving into something that resembles feudalism, a society dominated by rich and poor, with little opportunity for upward mobility for the states middle- and working classes.

The Editor's Winter Soup Recipe

I  make this soup throughout the winter months.

Usually have a pot of it on hand from November thru March.

Ingredients:

1 to 1 1/4 lbs of lean hamburger,
1 large onion - chopped.
2 large carrots - sliced.
2 large rib/stalks of celery - sliced thinly.
1 large potato - diced - about 1/2 inch pieces or 14 oz.can of Del Monte diced new potatoes.
1 inch wedge of cabbage - chopped - Optional
2 - 14 oz cans Redgold diced tomatoes.
1 - 14 oz can Swanson chicken broth.
1 - 14 oz can water.
3 shakes of Tabasco sauce - about a 1/2 tsp.
1/2 tsp black pepper.
1/2 tbsp salt - some might prefer less.
1/2 tsp dried basil.
1/4 tsp thyme.
1/4 tsp marjoram.
1/8 tsp garlic powder.
1/4 tsp ground bay leaf or 2 whole bay leaves.
Might need a TBsp of sugar or two if you find the soup too "tart".

I've found over the years that the ingredients listed in bold type are the best for the recipe.

Brown the hamburger in an 8 qt. stock pot, breaking it up so it cooks evenly.

When hamburger is about half cooked add the chopped onion.  Cook until meat is done.

Throw in everything else and bring to a boil.  Turn heat down and simmer for 20 minutes.  Veggies get a little "mushy" if cooked longer than that.

Let soup cool and skim fat from surface - unless you want to leave it in.

Soup is usually better the next day and is great for lunch w/o a whole bunch of calories.

Takes about 45 minutes to prepare and serves 6 to 10, depending on size of your soup bowl.

Enjoy.

Married 50 years
Thanks, Robert

After being married for 50 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, "Fifty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa-bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV. But hey I got to sleep every night with a hot 23-year-old girl!

Now ... I have a $750,000 home, a $45,000 car, a nice big bed and a large screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 73-year-old woman.  So I said to my wife "it seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman.  She told me to go out and find a hot 23-year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV!

Aren't older women great?

They really know how to solve an old guy's problems!
