President Obama and Kathleen Sebelius are back at it.

HHS Mandate "Fix" Fails Again

Moments ago, the Department of Health and Human Services released new rules intended to “fix” the assault on religious liberty posed by the HHS Mandate.

No surprise, the “fix” is largely an accounting gimmick that changes very little.

First, here is what the new proposed rules did NOT change:

Conscience-minded business owners with more than 50 employees will continue to be forced to pay for coverage for contraceptives, abortion-inducing drugs, and sterilization procedures. This includes Michigan businessman John Kennedy and Missouri businessman Frank O’Brien, both of whom are represented and defended by our CatholicVote.org Legal Defense Fund.

Pro-life organizations, schools or charities which are not explicitly religious will still be forced to pay for abortion inducing drugs if they have more than 50 employees.

The new rules provide NO options for private individuals who seek insurance coverage that respects their conscience.

So what changed?

Some religious nonprofits (schools, hospitals, and charities) are being told they can now “opt out” of the exemption – but in name only. The proposal will allow some of our Catholic colleges, hospitals, and charities to provide coverage that exempts these immoral medicines – BUT – the same insurance company will step in and provide the objectionable services to their employees for free.

By raising a religious objection, some faith-based institutions can now avoid directly paying the insurance company for objectionable medicines and procedures – yet the premiums they pay will go straight to an insurance company that will create a separate policy that will cover the very things these religious employers believe are wrong.

Likewise, self-insured plans like those used by many dioceses and large faith-based groups will be forced to cover their eyes while their plan “Administrator” does the same thing.

What a sham.

We all know that somebody has to pay for this coverage. Insurance companies will inevitably absorb these costs and pass them along to everyone they insure (including you!) by raising the costs of all plans. Or the federal government will step in and subsidize these costs with taxpayer money. Today's announcement simply means that religious organizations will end up paying for these costs indirectly along with the rest of us.

In other words, our brazen federal government continues to behave as if they get to decide who has a First Amendment right to religious liberty.

And you won't be surprised by this, but the Washington Post is now reporting that our Catholic Bishops were not consulted about this latest round of changes.

…and Planned Parenthood and the Big Abortion industry are happy.

Enough said.

Obama and Sebelius are backpedaling and looking for cover. But we aren’t fooled by this phony accommodation.

This is powerful. I think that it should be posted in every school.
In the email that this was poem was attached to it was said that it was written by a young Indian girl who was in jail for drug charges, and was addicted to meth, and that she wrote this while in jail. She was released from jail, but, true to her story, the drug owned her. They found her dead not long after, with the needle still in her arm.

And to think that Fox News was the only channel that reported this. They may be "politically incorrect", but at least they had the "balls" to report it.

In my opinion, the Muslims are all getting very brave now. Read Tedd Petruna's story below. Can you imagine, our own news media now are so politically correct that they are afraid to report that these were all Muslims?

Tedd Petruna is a diver at the NBL (Neutral Buoyancy Lab) facility at NASA Houston . Tedd happened to be on the AirTran Flight 297, from Atlanta to Houston . Here's his report :

"One week ago, I went to Ohio on business and to see my father. On Tuesday, the 17th, I returned home. If you read the papers the 18th you may have seen a blurb about where an Air Tran flight was canceled from Atlanta to Houston due to a man who refused to get off of his cell phone before take- off.. The story was only on Fox News. That was NOT what really happened.

I was seated in 1st class coming home. Eleven Muslim men got on the plane in full Muslim attire. Two of them sat in 1st class and the rest seated themselves throughout the plane, in coach class, all the way to the back. As the plane taxied out to the runway, the stewardesses gave the safety spiel that we are all so familiar with.

At that time, one of the men in 1st class, got on his cell and called one of his companions back in coach. He proceeded to talk on the phone in Arabic very loudly and very, very aggressively. This activity took the 1st stewardess out of action for she repeatedly told the man that cell phones were not permitted at that time. He ignored her as if she were not there. The man, who answered the phone back in the coach section, did the same and this took out the 2nd stewardess. Further back in the plane, at the same time, two younger Muslims, one in the back on the aisle, and one sitting in front of him by the window, began to show footage of a porno video they had taped the night before. They were very loud about it.

The 3rd stewardess informed the two men that they were not to have any electronic devices on at this time. One of the men said "shut up infidel dog!"

The stewardess attempted to take the camcorder and the Muslim began to scream in her face in Arabic. At that exact moment, all eleven of the men got up and started to walk throughout the cabin. I guess that because of the noise, the flight crew must have decided that there was something amiss and changed the plane's directions to head back to the terminal.

The commotion and noise was reaching a feverish pitch, and at this point I had had enough! I got up and started towards the back of 1st class when I heard a voice behind me from another Texan twice my size, say, "I got your back." Then I grabbed the man, who had been on the cell phone, by the arm and said, "You WILL sit down in your seat or you WILL be thrown from this plane!" As I "led" him around me to take his seat, the fellow Texan grabbed him by the back of his neck and his waist and headed him back to his seat. I then grabbed the 2nd man and said, "You WILL do the same!"

He protested loudly, but my adrenaline was flowing now and he was going to go also. Just as I escorted him forward, the plane stopped, the doors opened and three TSA agents and four police officers entered the cabin. Myself and my new Texas friend were told to cease and desist for they had the situation under control.

I was quite happy to oblige, actually. There was still some sort of commotion in the back, but within moments, all eleven Muslim men were escorted off the plane. The TSA agents then had their luggage unloaded. We talked about the occurrence and were in disbelief that it had happened.

Then suddenly, the door opened again and in walked all eleven Muslim men! Stone faced, eyes front and robotic, (the only way I can describe it) and they were reseated. The stewardess from the back had been in tears and when she saw the men, she was having NONE of it! Since I was up front, I heard and saw the whole ordeal. She told the TSA agents that there was NO WAY she was staying on the plane with the Muslim men. The agent told her that they had searched the men and were going through their luggage with a fine tooth comb. However, nothing had been found and that the men were allowed to proceed on to Houston .

The captain and co-captain came out of the cockpit and told the agent, "We and our crew will not fly this plane!" After a word or two, the entire crew, luggage in tow, left the plane. Five minutes later, the cabin door opened again and a whole new crew walked on. Again, this was where I had had enough! I got up and asked the TSA agent,"What the hell is going on?

I was told to take my seat. The airlines and TSA were sorry for the delay and we would be home shortly. I said, "I'm getting off this plane". The stewardess sternly told me that she could not allow me to get off. Now I'm really mad! I said, "I am a grown man who bought this ticket, whose time is mine, with a family at home, and I am going through that door, or I'm going through that door with you under my arm, but I AM going through that door!"

And then I heard a voice behind me say, "So am I!" Then everyone behind us started to get up and say the same thing. Within two minutes, I was walking off that plane where I was met by more TSA agents, who asked me to write a statement about the incident. I had five hours to kill at this point waiting for the next flight to Houston , so why the hell not give them my statement. Due to the amount of people who got off that flight, it was canceled. I was supposed to be in Houston at 6 PM, but I finally got there at 12:30 AM. If you don't believe this, look up the date and then Flight 297 from Atlanta to Houston .

If this wasn't a terrorism dry run, I don't know what is. The terrorists wanted to see how TSA would handle it, how the crew would handle it, and how the passengers would handle it. I'm telling this to you because I want you to know. The threat IS real. I saw it with my own eyes."

60 seconds with God...
For The next 60 seconds, set aside whatever
You're doing and take this opportunity!
Let's see if Satan can stop this...

THE (SCIENTIFIC) DEATH OF JESUS

At the age of 33,
Jesus was condemned to the death penalty.

At the time crucifixion was the "worst" death. Only the worst criminals condemned to be crucified. Yet it was
Even more dreadful for Jesus, for unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion, Jesus was nailed to the cross by His hands and feet, rather than tied...

Each nail
Was 6 to 8 inches long.

The nails
Were driven into His wrist. Not
Into His palms as is commonly
Portrayed. There's a tendon in the wrist that
Extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards knew
That when the nails were being hammered into the
Wrist, that tendon would tear and
Break, forcing Jesus to use His back
Muscles to support himself, so that He could breathe.

Both of His feet
Were nailed together. Thus He was forced to
Support Himself on the single nail that
Impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could
Not support himself with His legs for long because of the pain, so He was forced to alternate between arching His
Back and using his legs just to continue to
Breath. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the
Suffering, the courage.

Jesus endured this
Reality for over 3 hours.

Yes,
Over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of
Suffering? A few minutes before He died,
Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water
>From his wounds.

From common images we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side...
But do we remember the many wounds
Made to his body. A hammer
Driving large nails through the wrists, the feet overlapped
And a nail hammered through the arches, then a
Roman guard piercing His side with a spear. And...
Before the nails and the spear, Jesus was whipped and
Beaten. The whipping was so severe that it tore the
Flesh from His body. The beating so horrific that His
Face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. The
Crown of thorns (two to three inch thorns) cut deeply into His scalp. Most men
Would not have survived this torture.

To bleed out, only water poured from His
Wounds.The
Human adult body contains about 3.5 liters
(just less than a gallon) of blood.

Jesus poured all 3.5 liters of his blood;
He had three nails hammered into His
Members; a crown of thorns on His head and, beyond
That, a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into His Chest..

All these without
Mentioning the humiliation He passed after carrying His own
Cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his
Face and threw stones (the cross beam was almost 30 kg of weight, to which His hands were nailed).

Jesus had to endure this experience,
So that you may have free access to God.

So that your sins can be "washed" away.
All of them, with no exception!
Don't ignore this.

A.K. Miller's Front Yard

Consider the strange story of Alex and Imogene Miller of East Orange, VT.
They eked out an existence on a small farm.
Alex would scrounge rusty nails from burnt buildings to repair his roof.
He drove a ratty VW Beetle, and when it died, he found another even more ratty, and another...the rusting carcasses littered his yard.
Alex died in 1993, and Imogene died in 1996.
The local church took up a collection so they could be buried in the churchyard, and the state began the process of taking the farm for taxes.
That would have been the end of a sad story, except...


Forget the VW: a '28 Franklin ($4500 US) and a '23 HCS($14,500 US) lurk inside.
While preparing the estate for auction, the sheriff discovered a cache of bearer bonds taped to the back of a mirror.
That triggered a comprehensive search of the house and outbuildings.
The estate auction would eventually be handled by Christie’s, and it would bring out collectors from all over the world.


1913 Stutz Bearcat went for just $105,000 US. Must have been the bad tire.
It seems that Alex Miller was a Rutgers grad, son of a wealthy financier.
He lived in Montclair , NJ , where he founded Miller's Flying Service in 1930.
He operated a gyrocopter (look it up, it's too much of a digression) for mail and delivery service through the 30's.
But the Millers had a secret, and they moved from Montclair when they needed room for it.


Step behind the wheel of a 1916 Stutz Bearcat ($155,000 US).
Choosing to live low profile, and paranoid about tax collectors, Miller moved to the farm in Vermont , and took his collections with him.
Most of his cash had been exchanged for gold and silver bars and coins, which he buried in various locations around the farm.
He carefully disassembled his gyrocopter, and stored it in an old one-room schoolhouse on his property.
He then built a couple of dozen sheds and barns out of scrap lumber and recycled nails.
In the sheds he put his collection.


Have to remember to clean that '20 Bearcat out of the shed ($50,000 US).
Alex Miller had an obsession with cars.
Not just any cars, but Stutz cars.
Blackhawk’s, Bearcats, Super Bearcats, DV16's and 32's.
He had been buying them since the 1920's.
When Stutz went out of business, he bought a huge pile of spare parts, which was also carefully stored away in his sheds.


A Springfield Rolls Piccadilly Roadster ($115,000 US), made in Illinois .
Sometimes he would stray, and buy other "special cars", including Locomobiles, a Stanley , and a Springfield Rolls Royce.
He never drove them.
He'd simply move them into his storage sheds in the middle of the night, each car wrapped in burlap to protect it from any prying eyes.
Over the years, the farm appeared to grow more and more forlorn, even as the collection was growing.

Blood is on The Hands of the LEFT

I was just about to publish my latest editorial... on Canada's Supreme Court decision to suspend Freedom of Speech in favor of promoting one language over all others. THEN THE CONNECTICUT SCHOOL SHOOTINGS HAPPENED.

What happened at Sandy Hook School takes precedence over any language issues in Canada and a failed Judicial System in both our countries.
If you want to stop the sickness . . . IT'S TIME TO STOP THE LEFT.
I won't waste words describing my feelings, because how I feel is indescribable about 27 people murdered, (20 young children and six adults at the school),the murder of the shooter's mother beforehand, then the cowardly suicide of the shooter at the school as law enforcement closed in.

BUT I CAN TELL YOU WITH CERTAINTY WHY IT HAPPENED:

It didn't happen because of the so-called gun culture, or because of poor security at the school. It happened because of the modern leftist culture that has been busy removing all semblance of personal responsibility and respect from our lives.

It happened because of the Hollywood and television types who lecture the conservatives on how people should live, while they make large fortunes producing absolute filth and violence in their movies, videos, and television programs.

It happened because of the reality TV shows that often demean humanity, along with shows that make people laugh at the pain and humiliation of others.

The senseless murders happened because multi-millionaire computer game producers create ugly digital scenarios that poison young minds with abject depravity and gratuitous violence.

It happened because the school system no longer teaches values, and promotes the idea that 'anything goes.' And that all people are equal, regardless of the truth. And that no one ever fails!

It happened because progressive-liberal leaders won't allow concerned and loving parents to discipline their children, or raise their children in the time-honored way they feel is right.

It happened because far too many secular thought leaders and media writers spend their time and effort ridiculing and attacking the people who want to live by the lessons of the Bible and the Torah.

In truth, this and other horrible acts of violence happen because our society-- from the entertainment industry, to schools, to the media, and to our governments-- have created the social and cultural foundation that is eating away at both Canada and the United States like a cancer.

I know that what I am writing is in today's world inflammatory, but that's OK. I want my old country's values back!

Values like standing in school when an adult entered the room. Like being seriously disciplined for bad behavior - at school or at home. Like when we were measured by our successes and failures. When not everyone had to waste years of his or her life going to college and likely going into debt to perhaps learn basket weaving instead of going to a trade course or going to work or the military service right after high school.

I matter; my opinion - not so much!

If you are like me, you want to be relevant. I WANT to MATTER! Beyond that, I want to make an impact in people’s lives. I freely admit that I have NEVER gotten up in the morning and said, “Today, I wish to be completely irrelevant on every level.” Not me. Life’s too short for that.

Here’s what God is teaching me – and has been for a long time. HOW do I matter? In my “little world” the answer may surprise you. No, it is not preaching before hundreds (or more). No, it is not TV or position or influence publicly. That is a calling, and I love it, but that does not make me relevant.

We have this in common no matter how different our callings are. Mine is to be a Pastor/Teacher/Shepherd of a local church. Yours may be to be a teacher, businessman, homemaker, shop worker, or retiree. We have in common the desire to be relevant. The key question is – how do we do that? The biblical answer is to give our lives for the TRUTH.

Here’s the dilemma. We confuse OPINION with TRUTH. Not only are they NOT the same, they aren’t even close to equally important. I learned a long time ago that my opinion matters only to me, but truth matters to everyone. Therefore, I gave up on advancing my opinion completely and committed my life to advancing the TRUTH. That gives me relevance. Some people think relevance comes in advancing their opinion. It does not. Even further, God commands that we turn from our own opinion and embrace His TRUTH. It’s called “dying to self.” Yet, so many of us think that as Christians we “have the truth, so we need to speak.” NOT TRUE – GOD, and God alone, HAS THE TRUTH. So our calling is to advance HIS TRUTH. Speak HIS TRUTH!

Only in passing and with much hesitancy will I ever share my opinion. Two reasons – I have proven to myself so many times that I am very capable of being (often!) wrong. Also, my opinion matters far more to me that it does to anyone else on the planet, so I need to share my opinion mostly with the people that opinions matter to most – ME! Therefore, I talk to myself (kidding, or maybe not!).

Consider this – you have opinions – so do I – and they matter. But realize who they matter to most – YOU (or me!). What our friends need most, what others around us need most from us, is God’s TRUTH. You DO MATTER. God sent His Son to die for YOU! He redeemed you, loves you, cares for you and paid for your sins with the blood of His Son. You DO MATTER. But your (and my) opinion – not so much.

Our relevance in this world doesn’t depend on our opinion. Nobody else wants to hear it – they have one of their own. And God certainly doesn’t want to hear it – He already knows it and better yet, He already knows what is TRUTH regardless of our opinion. What makes us relevant is knowing and sharing His TRUTH!

So – what do I do? Know His TRUTH. Study His Word. Read His Word. That is TRUTH. Then – get relevant. Be more relevant. How? Tell others the TRUTH. Talk based on the TRUTH. Live based on the TRUTH – not your opinion.

Why? Because you ARE RELEVANT, to the degree that you share TRUTH. Your opinion – not so much.

For me – I want to matter. I want to be relevant. Therefore, I choose to live, know, and share TRUTH from God.

Dear Friends and Native Plant Enthusiasts,

Protecting our waters, cherished natural areas and wildlife is fundamental to a healthy and vibrant Florida. It’s not too late to make 2013 the year in which you make a difference. How? By helping FNPS and Florida’s Water and Land Legacy Campaign place a critical conservation amendment on the November 2014 ballot.


Good karma will come back to those who gather signatures!
Given the glorious weather of late, it is no wonder there will be so many outdoor festivals in the coming months throughout Florida. These offer some of the most productive signature gathering opportunities that this campaign can benefit from. For this reason, we need volunteers now more than ever.

To put the Water and Land Conservation Amendment on the 2014 ballot, we will need to gather 480,000 signatures (in addition to those we’ve already collected); we have less than one year to make this happen. Right now, the most important thing you can do to protect our rivers, springs, beaches and the places you hold dear to your hearts is to volunteer.

You have a chance to make sure that state lawmakers continue to invest in conservation by:
Protecting clean water for people and wildlife,
Restoring important natural areas like the Everglades, and
Safeguarding our springs, among other magnificent treasures, for future generations to enjoy.

On the environment, Scott wants to steer more money into programs than in his two previous budgets by earmarking $75 million for the Florida Forever land-buying program and another $60 million for the state's share of Everglades restoration.


"It's starting to put environmental spending back on track where it used to be,'' said Eric Draper of Audubon of Florida. "Gov. Scott is starting to make the environment a priority. This does seem like a different Gov. Scott. We're seeing his office listening more."

Florida Governor Scott’s Budget Brings Cheers For Environmental Items The News-Press

With $75 million earmarked for the Florida Forever land buying program and another $60 million for the Everglades, Scott’s spending blueprint met with applause Thursday from environmentalists encouraged by a seeming re-commitment to their causes.

Environmentalists say they will watch to see where the money comes from but at first blush are encouraged at funding levels of Florida Forever and the Everglades , which have been hit hard by recent tough fiscal times.

“This is really good news on both fronts,” said Eric Draper Executive Director of Audubon Florida. “It’s the first time in several years that we will see over $130 million in potential funding for both these programs.”

Scott’s budget proposal includes $60 million for Everglades restoration, an increase of $30 million from last year’s appropriation.

The proposal matches a budget request from the Everglades Foundation, which said more money was critical to enact a water quality plan that was agreed upon by the state and federal government.

“We strongly support his recommendation to provide $60 million for Everglades restoration,” said Eric Eikenberg, Everglades Foundation Chief Executive Officer. “We appreciate the governor’s commitment to Everglades restoration and we believe the Florida Legislature will more than match his recommendation. “

The environmental budget also calls for $75 million for the Florida Forever program, a $66 million increase, to buy environmentally sensitive lands.

Some environmental groups praised what they said was the governor's new commitment to land-buying. Scott vetoed spending for land buying in 2011 before requesting $15 million in 2012.

"It feels like we have turned a corner with Governor Scott," said Eric Draper, executive director of Audubon Florida and chairman of the Florida Forever Coalition. "This budget seems to be a good environmental budget."


The budget request also includes $25 million for beach restoration, $19 million for state park improvements, $6 million for springs protection, and $3 million for Apalachicola River stormwater projects and a flow study.

Everglades Foundation Applauds Scott’s Budget Proposals The Florida Independent

The Everglades Foundation, a nonprofit environmental group, has come out in support of Gov. Rick Scott’s recent budget proposals, which include a recommendation to the state Legislature that it invest $40 million next year on Everglades restoration.

The number is a significant increase from Scott’s first budget, in which he recommended spending only $17 million.

Last month, Scott told a crowd of Everglades Foundation supporters in Naples that his administration is “absolutely focused on making sure the right thing happens with the Everglades.”

“We know Gov. Scott has to face tough choices in making his budget recommendations,” said Everglades Foundation CEO Kirk Fordham in a press release. “The fact that Gov. Scott is willing to more than double his previous request for Everglades funding, demonstrates his understanding that protecting the Everglades and our water supply is a necessary ingredient to growing our state’s economy.”

While the dollars for education may be one of the highlights of Scott's budget, the spending plan also called for spending more on key environmental programs, such as the Florida Forever land-buying program and Everglades restoration.

I got a new dog

I'm not big on assault rifles but I believe everyone should be able to own a gun to protect themselves if they want to. This is not anything political but something I found to be funny no matter what your political beliefs are. Take it for what it is.



I got a new guard dog to guard my house. He was a little more than I thought I should pay.

But, I think when word gets out, we'll be a relatively crime-free neighborhood.

The nice part is he is only a year old and already fully trained.

When visitors first enter this museum,they will hear a sound like wind chimes coming from above them and their attention will be drawn upward 24 feet to the ceiling of the two-story high atrium.

Dog tags of 58,226 service men and women who died in the Vietnam War hang from the ceiling of the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago. The 10-by-40-foot sculpture, entitled “Above & Beyond,”was designed by Ned Broderick and Richard Steinbock. All these metal dogtags are suspended 24 feet in the air, 1 inch apart, from fine lines that allow them to move and chime with shifting air currents. Museum employees using a kiosk and laser pointer help visitors locate the exact dog tag with the imprinted name of their lost friend or relative. The dog tags are displayed in chronological order as they are on The Wall and each one has the name, branch of service, and date of casualty.

Every Friday the vice president takes a helicopter designated as Marine Two from the vice president’s residence in northwest Washington to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland . He then hops on Air Force Two to fly back to his home in Delaware . At the end of the weekend, he returns on Air Force Two, usually a Boeing C-32.




On Saturdays in warm weather, Biden regularly returns to Andrews on the airplane to play golf at the base with President Obama.




After the game, he flies back to Delaware . On Sunday evening, he returns on the plane to Washington — all at taxpayer expense.




The Boeing C-32 is a specially configured Boeing 757-200 commercial jet. The cost of flying the plane is $22,000 an hour, so each half-hour trip to or from Delaware costs about $10,000. Each golf game costs taxpayers $20,000. At that rate, the annual cost to taxpayers of Biden’s weekend trips is well over $1 million. That does not include so-called deadhead flights when the plane often flies back to Washington empty and then returns empty to pick up Biden.




In addition, the Secret Service rents more than 20 condominiums in the Wilmington area for agents who must accompany Biden when he returns to his home state. Rather than try to find hotel space, the Secret Service decided to rent the condos in part because, even when he knows his schedule in advance, Biden rarely tells agents until the last minute when he will be returning to Wilmington beyond his weekend trips. As a result, agents cannot plan their own lives.




A Secret Service agent says that since Air Force Two parks at Andrews, Obama is obviously aware that Biden is running up a huge government tab for each game of golf they play.




Biden’s press office had no comment. Asked if President Obama thinks these costs are appropriate and why he has not questioned Biden’s flying to play golf with him at a cost of $20,000 per game, the president’s press office had no comment.




Biden’s commutes have cost taxpayers at least $4 million so far. After my story ran on Newsmax, a major media outlet obtained Pentagon records confirming the trips and costs. But so far, that outlet has not run the story. The rest of the media have ignored it.




In addition to his salary as vice president of $230,700, Biden has free use of the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory. The vice president’s residence is a handsome 9,150-square-foot, three-story mansion overlooking Massachusetts Avenue NW in Washington .




Complete with pool, pool house, and indoor gym, the white brick house was built in 1893 as the home of the superintendent of the U.S. Naval Observatory. Congress turned it into the official residence of the vice president in 1974 and gave it the address One Observatory Circle .




During the day, at least five Navy stewards attend to every personal need of the second family, including cleaning, cooking, shopping for food, and doing the laundry.




Biden has portrayed himself as a regular Joe, a product of a working-class family who takes on millionaires and Republicans who are said to be out of touch with middle-class Americans. Last June, Obama appointed Biden to root out wasteful government spending. But behind the scenes, it’s a different matter.




Biden’s disregard for the cost of constantly shuttling back and forth to his home in Wilmington and his additional trips to golf with the president betray the arrogant, contemptuous attitude we saw him display toward Ryan during the debate.




“The White House is a character crucible,” Bertram S. Brown, M.D., a psychiatrist who formerly headed the National Institute of Mental Health, told me for the Secret Service book. “It either creates or distorts character. Few decent people want to subject themselves to the kind of grueling abuse candidates take when they run in the first place,” says Dr. Brown.




“Even if an individual is balanced, once someone becomes president, how does one solve the conundrum of staying real and somewhat humble when one is surrounded by the most powerful office in the land, and from becoming overwhelmed by an, at times, pathological environment that treats you every day as an emperor?”




The vice president has chosen the emperor approach, revealing his true character.

It is one of life's great mysteries that so many liberal people are so callous when it comes to aborting fetuses. I mean, the Democratic Convention last summer was almost a pro-abortion pep rally, as a variety of pro-choice speakers, including the self-proclaimed "Catholic woman" Caroline Kennedy, knelt at the altar of "reproductive rights."

Recently, another woman who calls herself a Catholic, Mary Elizabeth Williams, wrote a shocking article on the website Salon. Entitled "So What If Abortion Ends Life?" Ms. Williams starkly states: "I believe that life starts at conception. And it's never stopped me from being pro-choice."

In the body of the article Williams says this about her own pregnancies: "I never wavered for a moment in the belief that I was carrying a human life inside me.

"(But) here's the complicated reality in which we live: All life is not equal. That's a difficult thing for liberals like me to talk about ... a fetus can be a human life without having the same rights as the woman in whose body it resides. She's the boss. Her life and what is right for her ... should automatically trump the rights of the non-autonomous entity inside of her. Always."

So now a developing fetus or viable baby ingesting in the womb is a "non-autonomous entity." Good grief!

The measure of a decent human being is how he or she treats the defenseless. The philosophy of Ms. Williams echoes past tyranny: "Might makes Right!" What gives Mary Elizabeth Williams the right to determine that her life is better than the baby she carries? Who appointed Ms. Williams the arbitrator of who lives and who dies? Always, Ms. Williams? Abortion is acceptable always?

We are not talking about life endangerment or catastrophic damage to the mother here. No. What Williams believes, and she's not alone, is that a woman can execute her fetus simply because "she's the boss."

You may remember the late term abortion doctor George Tiller. For $5,000, Tiller would drill a hole into the skull of a baby anytime up until birth. Tiller had an assistant in his Kansas clinic, Dr. Kirstin Neuhaus, whose assignment was to put on paper a reason for the late termination. Pretty much any reason would do - including "anxiety."

On May 31, 2009, Dr. Tiller was shot through the eye while attending a church service. His killer, Scott Roder, is serving life in prison. The murder made national headlines and in many press dispatches, Tiller was portrayed as a martyr. People like me, who had criticized Tiller before the vicious crime, were accused by far left loons of encouraging the assassination.

On June 22, 2012, Dr. Kristin Neuhaus was informed that Kansas authorities had revoked her medical license. A judge ruled that she did not properly perform medical examinations of eleven abortion patients. The prosecution said that Neuhaus was a "threat to any future patients she might have."

Not to mention the babies she helped Tiller abort.

There comes a time when a human being has to either face evil or admit to allowing it. Abortion is legal in the United States but it should not be celebrated or used as a political tool. Viable babies are human beings. If they could talk they would tell Mary Elizabeth Williams and other pro-choice zealots that their lives should not be marginalized by someone who thinks she's the boss. That's what the babies would say.
