The surrender of 'El Fantasma'

The unusual arrest of El Fantasma: not a single bullet fired against the chief of El Chapo's gunmen.

Nobody warned Jonathan Salas Aviles that the Army was going for him. Not his bodyguards, not the police agents who worked for him, not the"punteros" (drug vendors) scattered around the Valle de San Lorenzo. Not his boss, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman.

Nobody. That's why, on Saturday, February 9, when El Fantasma was awakened by the sound of helicopters flying over his house in Colonia San Angel, Costa Rica township, the first thing he saw from his window was the military encirclement laid out around him.

There was no way out. The soldiers, around 200 of them, extended in a 300 yard radius around his home, with three layers of security, everything designed to allow no person to go in or out.

The decline of El Fantasma was predictable. His presence had become uncomfortable for Chapo Guzman as well as for Ismael El Mayo Zambada, because he always had a military operation on his tail looking for him.

In March of 2012, after Salas Aviles escaped a pursuit laid out against him by Navy forces around Oso Viejo, Mayo Zambada ordered him to get out of the Costa Rica and Quila area and go into hiding in the area around El Dorado and the coast of Culiacan.

However, El Mayo continued to receive complaints from the inhabitants in those three townships, who were terrified of El Fantasma's violent acts, who was just as likely to break into a private party carrying high powered rifles, to beat up peaceful residents or, with his bodyguards, to go into City Police installations to beat up police officers or release detainees.

With Military Intelligence always on his heels, Salas Aviles had become even more shy, which leads his relatives and gunmen to speculate what people suspect: it was an agreed upon, negotiated delivery, which resulted in soldiers not firing a single bullet when they arrested one of the Sinaloa cartel's most hardened men.

The presumption that it was a negotiated surrender is laid out in the recommendation that, in July 2012, the Army made to then-president Felipe Calderon to go after the smaller cartels, called "satellites" to decrease the indices of violence associated with drug trafficking. In the same report (Rio Doce 524), the Intelligence Cabinet said there was an agreement to reduce violent acts and to act only in response to attacks by rival criminal organizations.

The only thing for certain is that El Fantsma was arrested in the most unbelievable manner possible. "That's it; let's go" ("Ni modo, vamonos."), was the only thing he said to the soldiers who identified him and placed him under arrest and quickly transported him to the Attorney General's Specialized Unit for Organized Crime Investigation (SEIDO: Subprocuraduria Especializada en Investigacion de Delincuencia Organizada). Minutes later, they placed him aboard a helicopter and took him away from Ismael Zambada's cherished turf.

Well aimed operation


Up until the afternoon of the day before their arrest, Jonathan Salas Aviles paid tribute to his alias. He had gotten together with his bodyguards in the shade of a guamuchil tree in the middle of an empty lot which is located between Infonavit San Angel and the Center of Barrio Los pintos.

He would often meet there with his crew, always with well shaped women, beer and the pickup's sound system at full blast. He went around without a care. He seemed not to know that the Army and Federal Police were issuing bulletins saying he was one of Chapo Guzman's chiefs of sicarios, considered by police to be a bloody gunman who was feared even by the rest of the gunmen in the Sinaloa cartel.

From the time he arrived to the Culiacan valley in the middle of the nineties decade, accompanied by his parents who had come to Veracruz to work as farm laborers, he was seen as a ghostly being who would disappear for weeks at a time and wrap himself in a sepulchral silence when he returned, not saying where or with whom he had been.

In the area of Eldorado and Costa Rica, he connected with drug vendors who introduced him to people close to Chapo Guzman, who began to trust him because of his skill with weapons, a product of his military training.

He earned a reputation for being slippery. On February 18. 2012, he vanished before getting to a roadblock that was waiting for him at El Salado, and on March 2, 2012, after a ground and airborne operation carried out by the Navy, they mistakenly thought they had killed him in Oso Viejo.

He liked the nickname of El Fantasma (the Ghost). It bothered him to be addressed by his given name and would ask people to refer to him by his alias. He was always careful not to leave a trail, to protect his identity, and he followed that precaution even before the soldiers arrested him, because he suddenly vanished in his pickup with his bodyguards, without anybody else in the party knowing where he went.

But the soldiers knew that when he left the guamuchil tree, he feinted a departure from Costa Rica when he was really going to a nearby house, no more than 100 yards away, to sleep. The bodyguards were the ones who left the town in a convoy.

Around midnight, a column of military vehicles traveled by highway and arrived at the west entrance to Costa Rica. From there, the contingent advanced on the periphery of the town until 200 soldiers manned the security zone surrounding Salas Aviles.

Once the pincer movement closed, three armored Marine helicopters landed in a soccer field in Centro del Barrio. The sound of their rotors awakened El Fantasma and the rest of the neighbors who never noticed the troop movements.

The soldiers went straight to the house where Jonathan Salas had been sleeping. They knocked on the door and asked him to surrender. Somebody opened the door and told them the person they were looking for was not there. Once again, it seemed that El Fantasma had vanished.

Jonathan Salas had taken off, jumping over the fence in back of the house into the adjacent house, apparently inhabited by his mother. He changed his clothes and lay down pretending to sleep. The soldiers got to him and, on the verge of calling the operation a failure, recognized him, compared facts and took him away.

Look who's talking


The arrest of El Fantasma infused with courage not only the Army, which had failed once and again to capture him, but also Governor Mario Lopez Valdez, Attorney General Marco Antonio Higuera Gomez, and even in the mayor of Culiacan, Aaron Rivas Loaiza, who, previously reluctant to discuss drug trafficking, now recognized the success of the operation and speculated that it would contribute to greater public tranquility and security.

After verifying the arrest made by the commander of the Third Military Region, General Moises Melo Garcia, Malova (Governor Mario Lopez Valdez) quickly declared that they were not expecting any reaction from organized crime as a result of El Fantasma's arrest.

He denied that he would request federal reinforcements to guarantee the safety of residents of Sinaloa because, he said -- and these were his exact words -- "General Melo has not given me an indication that he feels overwhelmed, I would have to wait for a signal from them, by virtue of the fact that I'm grateful for the work he has done, I don't want to be disrespectful of the high command by knocking on doors in Mexico City without them telling me to."

The governor talked the same way he did on March 2, 2012, when the Navy believed they had killed El Fantasma. On that occasion, before the death of Jonathan Salas had even been confirmed, he stated that it "would bring Sinaloa a little bit of peace and tranquility."

"One less person to go around committing crimes," he ventured.

But the courage felt by the authorities also reached the Attorney General Higuera Gomez, who assumed that the arrest of Jonathan Salas demonstrates the interest there is in stopping violence in Sinaloa:

"Said person was causing serious criminal indicators (sic)in the northern and central zones of the state, and with his capture, there will be a great accomplishment in the security index, which has been going down in the past two years," said the state prosecutor.

Well into the subject that had been taboo for state and municipal governments, Mayor Aaron Rivas Loaiza declared that he expects tranquility will increase in Culiacan with the arrest of the alleged chief of security of Joaquin El Chapo Guzman.

"I expect that peace in Culiacan will be even better, that there will not be any problems because they caught this character, I expect things will not change," he said.

The governor, the attorney general and the mayor had lost their fear of their own "ghosts."

Hunting without bullets


In Sinaloa, it has become customary for the Army to arrest members of organized crime groups in peaceful operations, without a confrontation between the hunters and the hunted. When it involves objectives who are difficult to locate and capture, common sense would indicate that these would be arrests that take place in the middle of gun fire from soldiers and capos.

On January 27, 2004, the the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA: Secretaria de Defensa Nacional) disclosed the arrest of Javier Torres Felix in an operation that didn't report any major incidents in the Colinas de San Miguel sector in Culiacan. Although the head of SEDENA at the time, Ricardo Clemente Vega, compared him with Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, el JP did not offer any resistance, and many of the neighbors in the neighborhood in which the military carried out the deployment never even knew about the "big fish" with the Sinaloa cartel, who was extradited to the United States in April, 2006, where he is about to be released.

Something similar occurred on January 21, 2008, when Alfredo Beltran Leyva, El Mochomo, was arrested in Colonia Burocrata in Culiacan. The police mobilization took this individual, considered a key man in the organization led by Chapo Guzman, by surprise.

Because of the unusual characteristics of the arrest, the brothers Arturo, Hector, Carlos and Mario Beltran Leyva accused the Sinaloa cartel of having betrayed him and started a merciless war against Guzman Loera and Ismael Zambada.

More recently, on October 13, 2012, the Army announced it had killed Manuel Felix Torres, El Ondeado, without any reports of a confrontation between the soldiers and the man who was considered the chief of gunmen and personal bodyguard for Mayo Zambada.

In all of these cases, because they were events characterized by the peaceful capture of renowned celebrities in organized crime, it has been speculated that they had been "placed" within reach of the Army and that the arrests were negotiated between high ranking military commanders and the leaders of the Sinaloa cartel.

Day to day fear


In Costa Rica (Sinaloa), fear is now a way of life. To lock yourself indoors when the sun sets and come out only when the sun is shining has become a kind of curfew that the residents have imposed on themselves due to the presence of drug trafficking gunmen who have taken control of the area.

Most of the police, they all say, quietly, are colluding (with criminals) and the few good elements don't dare "pull the lion's tail." In the San Lorenz valley, everybody knows who who's going bad and who's OK.

"There's no peace any more, everything that let people live peacefully, to go out into the streets without fear of not coming back, is gone," says Guadalupe Rivera Valenzuela, the president of the Council for the Defense of Human Rights of the town of Costa Rica.

A social activist in no-man's land, she hopes what decent families also hope for. That with the arrest of El Fantasma, or any other criminal, peace will return and end the state of vulnerability and terror that deprives some of their sleep and others of their lives.

In Costa Rica, there has been no Ministerial Police force for two years and the City Police are frequently humiliated by the gunmen. That's why the early morning military incursion on February 9 has reanimated the hope that peace will be reestablished.

It's only a matter of going into the Colonias and neighborhoods to sense the fear that dominates the place. The breakdown of public services and the abandonment of public security disguises the fear that any stranger who arrives there may be a gunman. The instinct for survival has taught them to keep quiet, to not give information, names or details of those who keep them afraid.

Guadalupe Rivera says that so long as the military do not commit abuses against the civilian population, their operations will be well received by the people. "What we want is peace, no matter who imposes it. Peace, so that the abuses, the robberies, the murders will end."

They have faith that the arrest of Jonathan Salas will bring peace to the Costa Ricans. But then she recalls a phrase that Ismael El Mayo Zambada spoke in his interview with Julio Scherer: "In jail, dead or extradited, their replacements are already around here."

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas— Monday February 18 2013- The government of Tamaulipas through the Attorney General of the State reported that Balmori Roberto Alejandro Garza, who serves as the head of the Secretariat of Public Safety, as missing in the town of Nuevo Laredo.

After several days, there have been various hypotheses about the whereabouts and location of the municipal official of the border city. Necessary instructions have been issued to locate him.

In a statement issued by the authorities, the authorities confirmed that they instructed the delegate of the PGJE (Office of the State Attorney General), Pedro Castillo, in Nuevo Laredo to switch jobs in order correspond to the respective authorities for establishing the collection of information leading to the whereabouts of the municipal official.

Furthermore, it is reported that the Attorney General of the State, through the staff assigned to the delegation of the institution, began questioning the absence of Balmori Garza.

Just last September of 2012 in that same town, there was a vehicle located with the remains of 3 dead bodies located inside the vehicle. The bodies were identified as José Luis Orozco (the police chief strategy officer), Arturo Alvarado (In charge of weapons), and Guillermo Hernández Pacheco (The director analysis of the SSPE (State Public Security Secretariat)

The State Public Security Secretariat and the State Attorney General’s Office reported that around 23:00 hours on Wednesday, September 19, they received a report on the finding on Jesus Carranza Street and Paseo Colón, in the border city mentioned.

The Public Prosecutor in turn, with the support of the Forensic Services Unit and the state police, moved to the scene to begin a preliminary investigation, attesting that inside the gray 2012 Chevy Aveo, with Tamaulipas state plates, were the bodies of the three people who were later identified as public servants of the Ministry of Public Security of the State of Tamaulipas.

According to information issued by Tamaulipas state authorities, these public servants were killed in the line of duty.
The vehicle in which they were traveling had bullet holes from gun fire. At the scene, there were 32 high-caliber cartridges found.

Wednesday, I approached my truck from the passenger side to place
my computer bag (aka my man purse) in the front passenger seat.

As I reached to open the door I noticed there was a hole right
under my door handle.

My first thought was, "someone has shot my truck !"

I began to think about it and inspect it a little closer and
the "light" slowly began to come on.

I phoned my friend who owns a body shop and asked if he had any
vehicles with damage to the doors that looked like a bullet hole.

"Yes, I see it all the time. Thieves have a punch and place it
right under the door handle, knock a hole through, reach in and
unlock it, just as if they have a key. No alarms, broken glass,
or anything."

I then placed a call to my insurance agent and explained it to
him. I was puzzled that they left my GPS and all other belongings.

Here is where it gets scary !

"Oh no, he said, they want the break-in to be so subtle that you
don't even realize it. They look at your GPS to see where "home"
is. Or check your address from Insurance and Registration in your glove box. Now, they know what you drive, go to your home, and if your
vehicle isn't there they assume you aren't and break into your home."

He said they will even leave a purse or wallet and only take one
or two credit cards. By the time you realize there has been a
theft, they may have already had a couple of days or more to
use them.

(I didn't realize my situation for two full days!)

They even give you the courtesy of re-locking your doors for you.

Periodically, walk around your car, especially after you park
in a shopping center or other large parking area.

Report thefts immediately....your bank w/missing check numbers,
your credit card agencies, police, and insurance companies, etc.

One would have to look pretty darn close to notice a hole like that. If the hole was on the passenger side I would never see.

Standing in front of all the movers and shakers, in the neighborhood where a 15-year old student was gunned downed by gangbanger, the President speaks obliquely about gun control, but fails to address the real cause of the problem: minority gangs, the source of the majority of gun violence, crime and drugs causing the killing and disruption of life in the neighborhoods of Chicago and similarly situated inner cities. As I have said many times before, it is not a gun control issue, it is a crime control issue. Woman killed in North Chicago was innocent victim of gang violence says dad

Janay McFarlane, 18, was killed late Friday just hours after her younger sister was among a group of teens who were onstage as President Barack Obama gave a speech in Chicago on violence.

The father of an 18-year-old woman shot to death in North Chicago said Sunday he believes the crime was gang-related and that his daughter was an innocent victim. The victim’s father, Joe McFarlane, said police told him the assailant was aiming for a man who was walking with his daughter to a store. He said Janay was in North Chicago to visit relatives and to attend a cousin’s performance with a dance group.

“I’m from the streets and from what I can gather, this was definitely gang-related,” McFarlane said. He said his daughter was not in any gang.

Bottom line …

When will Obama and his fellow democrat travelers declare gangs as domestic terrorists and purge them from America? You can survive being called the N-word, but you cannot survive a gang bullet. So when are the Reverends Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright, Father Phleger, Minister Louis Farrakahn and others radical leftists demand action against the gangs?

I have just finished watching the President’s State of the Union Speech again and much of the coverage in the mainstream media. And, it clearly indicates why the majority of Americans are being disadvantaged by the mainstream media whose historic journalistic ethics and “speaking truth to power” characteristics can no longer be relied upon.

In spite of obvious lies, distortions, half-truths and misdirection – the mainstream media, once again, disregarded the facts and spun the speech as a “brilliant” work. It did not seem to matter that most of the speech was comprised of stale, shop-worn rhetoric from previous campaigns, that Obama was little more than an accomplished actor – reading the TelePrompTered spin-tested words written by others, or that the fact-checking results were not given the same attention as the speech itself.

But, beyond this, it appears that the spin-tested phrases which had the majority of Americans bobbing their heads in agreement meant little or nothing when compared to the executive branch power grab, nullification of congressional authority and the gross and unconstitutional manipulation of the law.

The idea of an increased minimum wage had the lowest end of the employment spectrum bobbing their heads in agreement. But, few – perhaps due to their poor understanding of the subject – did not realize the implications of what the President was saying.

We know our economy is stronger when we reward an honest day’s work with honest wages. But today, a full-time worker making the minimum wage earns $14,500 a year. Even with the tax relief we put in place, a family with two kids that earns the minimum wage still lives below the poverty line. That’s wrong. That’s why, since the last time this Congress raised the minimum wage, 19 states have chosen to bump theirs even higher.

Tonight, let’s declare that in the wealthiest nation on Earth, no one who works full-time should have to live in poverty, and raise the federal minimum wage to $9.00 an hour. (Applause.) We should be able to get that done. (Applause.)

This single step would raise the incomes of millions of working families. It could mean the difference between groceries or the food bank; rent or eviction; scraping by or finally getting ahead. For businesses across the country, it would mean customers with more money in their pockets. And a whole lot of folks out there would probably need less help from government. In fact, working folks shouldn’t have to wait year after year for the minimum wage to go up while CEO pay has never been higher. So here’s an idea that Governor Romney and I actually agreed on last year -- let’s tie the minimum wage to the cost of living, so that it finally becomes a wage you can live on. (Applause.)

But, how many of these head bobbers realize that minimum wage is not the whole story and that you must factor taxes, benefits and other costs into the equation? And, that if the cost of labor significantly increases, prices must also increase to maintain profit margins. And, if profit margins decline, there is less incentive for the employers to provides those goods and services; leading to the outsourcing of jobs or the cessation of businesses. Or, as a common reaction, the reduction of personnel with increased workloads to make up for the increased expenses.

How many of these head-bobbers realize that this will decimate the what little employment exists in the inner cities or kill summer jobs for high school students? Thus, providing additional funds to fewer people in a down economy?

But, the idea of higher wages “resonates” with those who are liberals or are in the lower socio-economic group. Even though it will exacerbate the employment situation and our gross domestic product.

These are the people who elected Barack Obama to the Presidency – believing that this historic elevation of a Black Man to the highest office was the beginning of “true hope and change” in a post-partisan president who would work for the people and not either political party. A resonance kept alive by the mainstream media even though it is demonstrably false and Obama’s actions mark him as an “affirmative action” president of stunning incompetence. An ignorant man who has learned to smile and use high-sounding words, but knows almost nothing other than to use resonance to convince the American people he is serving “We the People.”

A classic case of the Emperor’s New Clothes – officially sanctioned by the mainstream media to the detriment of America.

Bottom line …

The democrats are engaged in a continual campaign, to destroy the republican party and to place American in a dire economic and military position where there is little hope but to cede additional powers to an ever growing public. To accomplish their ends, they must disarm the American public – intellectually by dumbing down education and physically with gun control. They must create a cadre of citizens, perhaps former illegal aliens, who will join the military and have little or no qualms about disarming or firing on American citizens.

I would not be surprised if the republican party continues to cave – playing games with religious and social matters – while our nations economic viability and military prowess are nullified by those in the democrat party. Perhaps, the democrat party should now be denoted with the “Hammer and Sickle” as they go about creating their version of Amerika, a democratic socialist republic heading towards the communist nirvana. Perhaps they are being blackmailed by the democrats who know that the republicans are just as personally corrupt as they are – but make such as show about “family values” that the smallest peccadillos forces them out of the race or to resign their offices.

Did everyone see the misdirection and ridicule heaped on Marco Rubio when he delivered the republican response to Obama’s State of the Union Address. Right out of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals – where ridicule is a most powerful and effective weapon. Deflecting the message of the speaker into a meaningless horse laugh for late night comedians.

2014 is closer than you think – and is a bulwark against adopting the most radical of the democrat socialist policies. And, if the democrats can keep the republicans talking about religion, abortion and other such nonsense in this time of peril – they will win over America.

"There is a smarter way to reduce the size of government than to slash defense spending, threaten national security and hurt military families," says Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL) in the Weekly Republican Address. “In fact, the Republican-led House has already voted twice to replace the president’s sequester with targeted spending cuts based on real budget priorities." Rep. Roby called on President Obama and Senate Democrats to join House-led efforts to replace his sequester – not with more tax increases, but with responsible spending cuts that help balance the budget in 10 years.
“We’re weeks away from the president’s sequester," said Speaker Boehner, and the president still has “laid out no plan" to replace it. Senate Democrats still haven’t passed a replacement plan of their own either.
"Do Senate Democrats support President Obama’s agenda?" asked Speaker Boehner. If the president wants more ‘stimulus’ spending, more tax hikes, and a national energy tax, Senate Democrats ought to “go ahead and take it up." The GOP will be focused on creating jobs and addressing our debt.

Under President Obama, it takes 30 times longer to get a federal drilling permit than some state and private permits. Energy production on federal land has plummeted and popular projects like Keystone XL remain blocked.
The Hill says the president is waging an “endless campaign," and "stump-style appears are ‘what he’s best at’." Replacing his sequester with responsible cuts that put us on a path to balance the budget in 10 years, submitting a budget, and approving the Keystone XL pipeline would all be more productive.

Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone.

This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.

With over 300 million firearms in America in the hands of private citizens, the people are sending a loud and clear message to their government.

Back off. Stop encroaching on our personal liberties. Limit yourself to your Constitutionally granted powers and nothing more.

BUT THE SAME GOVERNMENT IDIOTS WANT TO MAKE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND EXPENSIVE FOR US CITIZENS TO BUY AMMO FOR OUR SELF- DEFENSE, TARGET PRACTICE, HUNTING AND OTHER RECREATIONAL AND COMPETITIVE SHOOTING.

(The Homeland Security ammo buy is not the first time the government's bullets purchases have sparked questions and concerns. The same thing happened last year when the Social Security Administration posted a notice that it was buying 174,000 hollow point bullets!)

With its smooth and elegant lines, this could be a prototype for some future successor to the stealth bomber. But this flying wing was actually designed by the Nazis 30 years before the Americans successfully developed radar-invisible technology. Now an engineering team has reconstructed the Horten Ho 2-29 from blueprints, with startling results.

Blast from the past: The full-scale replica of the Ho 2-29 bomber was made with materials available in the 40s.

Futuristic: The stealth plane design was years ahead of its time.
It was faster and more efficient than any other plane of the period and its stealth powers did work against radar. Experts are now convinced that given a little bit more time, the mass deployment of this aircraft could have changed the course of the war.

The plane could have helped Adolf Hitler win the war.
First built and tested in the air in March 1944, it was designed with a greater range and speed than any plane previously built and was the first aircraft to use the stealth technology now deployed by the U.S. in its B-2 bombers.
Thankfully Hitler's engineers only made three prototypes, tested by being dragged behind a glider, and were not able to build them on an industrial scale before the Allied forces invaded.
From Panzer tanks through to the V-2 rocket, it has long been recognized that Germany 's technological expertise during the war was years ahead of the Allies.
But by 1943, Nazi high command feared that the war was beginning to turn against them, and were desperate to develop new weapons to help turn the tide.
Nazi bombers were suffering badly when faced with the speed and maneuverability of the Spitfire and other Allied fighters.
Hitler was also desperate to develop a bomber with the range and capacity to reach the United States .
In 1943 Luftwaffe chief Hermann Goering demanded that designers come up with a bomber that would meet his requirements, one that could carry 1,000kg over 1,000km flying at 1,000km/h.

A wing section of the stealth bomber. The jet intakes were years ahead of their time. Two pilot brothers in their thirties, Reimar and Walter Horten, suggested a flying wing design they had been working on for years.
They were convinced that with its drag and lack of wind resistance such a plane would meet Goering's requirements.
Construction on a prototype was begun in Goettingen in Germany in 1944.
The centre pod was made from a welded steel tube, and was designed to be powered by a BMW 003 engine.
The most important innovation was Reimar Horten's idea to coat it in a mix of charcoal dust and wood glue.

Inventors Reimar and Walter Horten were inspired to build the Ho 2-29 by the deaths of thousands of Luftwaffe pilots in the Battle of Britain .
The 142-foot wingspan bomber was submitted for approval in 1944, and it would have been able to fly from Berlin to NYC and back without refueling, thanks to the same blended wing design and six BMW 003A or eight Junker Jumbo 004B turbojets. He thought the electromagnetic waves of radar would be absorbed, and in conjunction with the aircraft's sculpted surfaces the craft would be rendered almost invisible to radar detectors.
This was the same method eventually used by the U.S. in its first stealth aircraft in the early 1980s, the F-117A Nighthawk.
The plane was covered in radar absorbent paint with a high graphite content, which has a similar chemical make-up to charcoal.
After the war the Americans captured the prototype Ho 2-29s along with the blueprints and used some of their technological advances to aid their own designs.
But experts always doubted claims that the Horten could actually function as a stealth aircraft.
Now using the blueprints and the only remaining prototype craft, Northrop-Grumman (the defense firm behind the B-2) built a full size replica of a Horten Ho 2-29.

Luckily for Britain the Horten flying wing fighter-bomber never got much further than the blueprint.

Thanks to the use of wood and carbon, jet engines integrated into the fuselage, and its blended surfaces, the plane could have been in London eight minutes after the radar system detected it. It took them 2,500 man-hours and $250,000 to construct, and although their replica cannot fly, it was radar-tested by placing it on a 50ft articulating pole and exposing it to electromagnetic waves.
The team demonstrated that although the aircraft is not completely invisible to the type of radar used in the war, it would have been stealthy enough and fast enough to ensure that it could reach London before Spitfires could be scrambled to intercept it.
If the Germans had had time to develop these aircraft, they could well have had an impact, says Peter Murton, aviation expert from the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, in Cambridgeshire.
In theory the flying wing was a very efficient aircraft design which minimized drag.
It is one of the reasons that it could reach very high speeds in dive and glide and had such an incredibly long range.
The research was filmed for a forthcoming documentary on the National Geographic Channel.

Why did God Allow Obama to be Elected..EXCELLENT !!!!

Don't know who this Pastor is but he hit the nail on the head. As for me, he straightened me out as I was so disappointed and disheartened that Romney did not win. What a wonderful attitude this man has. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

I like many Americans was deeply saddened by the reelection of Obama on Tuesday, was quick to be ashamed of America and the people who voted for him and also questioned why God would allow this to happen. Today I started to reflect upon what happened and why. Then it hit me that I wasn't trusting God and He is still in control! Perhaps God in his wisdom knew that Romney was not the right choice for us at this time. Perhaps God in his wisdom knew that whomever got elected was going to face huge problems and why shouldn't Obama be the one to shoulder that responsibility. After all he is the one who said he ‘hoped’ to ‘change’ America, unfortunately he has misled, the American people, and has further plans for the destruction of our Country as we have known and loved it. But, now has to "inherit" his own ‘change’ and can't blame it on Bush or someone else. The media would have crucified Romney over the next four years for "ruining" Obama's hope and change plans and blamed him for all the Obama problems. I believe that our God will show this nation what happens when you allowGodless people to manage the gifts this nation has to offer and He provided for us. I believe He will expose Obama once and for all for the failure he is and our corrupt media will not be able to save him. I also believe that Obama's attitude and treatment of Israel is not looked upon by God as obeying his command and Obama will have to answer for that. We have another Congressional election coming up in two years and maybe we can get rid of some of the democratic critters that occupy Congress today. Maybe in four years we can run a ticket for President and Vice President like Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Scott Walker, or Marco Rubio. Maybe when America again suffers serious setbacks, in jobs, higher taxes, gas, and food prices, people will realize what a weak and corrupt Obama administration team we have and be tired of it. I will not question God's wisdom or plans He has for us again, because He is in control and has always done what's best for us. We are reminded that prayer isn't always answered in the way we would like at the time, but God does answer our prayers in His time and in a way that is best for His children. So, let's keep the Faith, lay our worries at His feet and trust God to take care of us!
