No WH Tours for Kids but..........

There are currently 139 people -- special assistants, etc., in the White House who make over $100K/year -- and their pay is NOT being cut by sequestration.....instead, Obama is closing the White House (The "People's House") to tours by school kids, etc. to "save money." However, the truth is that the tours are conducted by VOLUNTEERS! Any so-called "cost" would be the boost in the number of Secret Service agents who must be on duty to protect the anointed one from the dangerous school kids.

Spring Break for the "First Child"

The irony is Obama is demanding more cuts to the military while his daughter is costing the tax payers MILLIONS!

Spring Break for the "First Child"
Malia on break in Mexico

After driving the U.S. more deeply into debt than any other President,
this should make you shake your head. If George Bush's daughters or
Bill Clinton's daughter had done this, it would have been all over the
news and the voter's would have been calling for heads to roll 24/7.
But with the chosen one, you hear nothing on the major media.

Want to know where Obama's 13 year-old daughter went with 12 friends?
On "spring break" in Oaxaca Mexico , on your dime.
She took two jets, 12 friends and 25 secret service men.
A thirteen year-old? What the?
Why haven't you heard about it?

The Obama Administration has had the Secret Service scouring the web
ordering that any website mentioning this be taken down because letting
the travel plans out could have endangered the president's daughter's
security.

Nonsense, the "royal couple" just want to hide the way they are ripping
off the U.S. taxpayer. Only a few Canadian Web-sites still have it up.
(both below)

The Obama's are laughing at the "suckers" who are funding their
Imperial Lifestyle.

This trip cost more than most Americans make in their entire lifetimes

Fall From Grace!

SHRINKING AARP IS LOSING PLENTY OF SENIORS...AARP'S FALL FROM GRACE.
THE LADY THAT WROTE THIS LETTER, NOT ONLY HAS A GRASP OF ‘THE SITUATION’ BUT AN INCREDIBLE COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!

Her letter was sent to Mr. Rand who is the Executive Director of AARP. It only takes a few days on the Internet and this will have reached 75% of the public in the USA.

Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. This isn't what you were looking for, but it's is the most honest response I can give you. Our coverage gap is a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith. While we have proudly maintained our membership for years and long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse its abdication of our values. Your letter stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours.

Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP once gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama Regime and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there! We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces that we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities and values.

This Obama Regime scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage. But more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist Mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities.

Your web site generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? The illegal perpetrators have broken into our 'house', invaded our home without invitation or consent. The President insists we keep these illegal perpetrators in comfort and learn the perpetrator's language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them. I DON'T choose to welcome them, to support them, to educate them, to medicate them, or to pay for their food or clothing. American home invaders get arrested. Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get? Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break and enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current Regime. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America. Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than ones that are driven by a need to yield AMNESTY (aka-make voters out of the foreign lawbreakers so they can vote to continue the governments free handouts). This addition of 10 to 20 million voters who then will vote to continue Socialism will OVERWHELM our votes to control the government's free handouts. It is a "slippery slope" we must not embark on!

As Margaret Thatcher (former Prime Minister of Great Britain) once said "Socialism is GREAT - UNTIL you run out of other people's money".

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you. I am disappointed as all get out! I am more scared than I have ever been in my entire life! I am ANGRY! I am MAD as heck, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore!

Our thermometers simply aren't cooperating with the Man Caused Global Warming Dogma!

Environmentalist Lawrence Solomonwriting in Canada's Financial Post, Feb. 7:
Our thermometers simply haven't been rising. According to a study last month by NASA's James Hansen, Al Gore's mentor, temperatures have been "flat for the past decade." According to the U.K.'s Meteorological Office, every bit Al Gore's equal in alarmism, the temperature standstill has lasted 15 years and, its revised models say, may extend to 20. No wonder public opinion hasn't rallied to the alarmist cause.

For governments to muster the courage they need to impose carbon taxes or other unpopular measures, public opinion will need to swing dramatically to boost the number who worry that global warming threatens the planet. . . .

But what is the chance of that, when temperatures have risen only about one-half of one degree C in each of the previous three centuries, and not at all so far in the 21st century? Alarmists will need to somehow up their game if they are to make progress in scaring the public into action.

Green Cars Have a Dirty Little Secret Producing and charging electric cars means heavy carbon-dioxide emissions.

By Bjorn Lomborg

Electric cars are promoted as the chic harbinger of an environmentally benign future. Ads assure us of "zero emissions," and President Obama has promised a million on the road by 2015. With sales for 2012 coming in at about 50,000, that million-car figure is a pipe dream. Consumers remain wary of the cars' limited range, higher price and the logistics of battery-charging. But for those who do own an electric car, at least there is the consolation that it's truly green, right? Not really.

For proponents such as the actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio, the main argument is that their electric cars—whether it's a $100,000 Fisker Karma (Mr. DiCaprio's ride) or a $28,000 Nissan Leaf—don't contribute to global warming. And, sure, electric cars don't emit carbon-dioxide on the road. But the energy used for their manufacture and continual battery charges certainly does—far more than most people realize.

A 2012 comprehensive life-cycle analysis in Journal of Industrial Ecology shows that almost half the lifetime carbon-dioxide emissions from an electric car come from the energy used to produce the car, especially the battery. The mining of lithium, for instance, is a less than green activity. By contrast, the manufacture of a gas-powered car accounts for 17% of its lifetime carbon-dioxide emissions. When an electric car rolls off the production line, it has already been responsible for 30,000 pounds of carbon-dioxide emission. The amount for making a conventional car: 14,000 pounds.

While electric-car owners may cruise around feeling virtuous, they still recharge using electricity overwhelmingly produced with fossil fuels. Thus, the life-cycle analysis shows that for every mile driven, the average electric car indirectly emits about six ounces of carbon-dioxide. This is still a lot better than a similar-size conventional car, which emits about 12 ounces per mile. But remember, the production of the electric car has already resulted in sizeable emissions—the equivalent of 80,000 miles of travel in the vehicle.

So unless the electric car is driven a lot, it will never get ahead environmentally. And that turns out to be a challenge. Consider the Nissan Leaf. It has only a 73-mile range per charge. Drivers attempting long road trips, as in one BBC test drive, have reported that recharging takes so long that the average speed is close to six miles per hour—a bit faster than your average jogger.

To make matters worse, the batteries in electric cars fade with time, just as they do in a cellphone. Nissan estimates that after five years, the less effective batteries in a typical Leaf bring the range down to 55 miles. As the MIT Technology Review cautioned last year: "Don't Drive Your Nissan Leaf Too Much."

If a typical electric car is driven 50,000 miles over its lifetime, the huge initial emissions from its manufacture means the car will actually have put more carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere than a similar-size gasoline-powered car driven the same number of miles. Similarly, if the energy used to recharge the electric car comes mostly from coal-fired power plants, it will be responsible for the emission of almost 15 ounces of carbon-dioxide for every one of the 50,000 miles it is driven—three ounces more than a similar gas-powered car.

Even if the electric car is driven for 90,000 miles and the owner stays away from coal-powered electricity, the car will cause just 24% less carbon-dioxide emission than its gas-powered cousin. This is a far cry from "zero emissions." Over its entire lifetime, the electric car will be responsible for 8.7 tons of carbon dioxide less than the average conventional car.

Those 8.7 tons may sound like a considerable amount, but it's not. The current best estimate of the global warming damage of an extra ton of carbon-dioxide is about $5. This means an optimistic assessment of the avoided carbon-dioxide associated with an electric car will allow the owner to spare the world about $44 in climate damage. On the European emissions market, credit for 8.7 tons of carbon-dioxide costs $48.

Yet the U.S. federal government essentially subsidizes electric-car buyers with up to $7,500. In addition, more than $5.5 billion in federal grants and loans go directly to battery and electric-car manufacturers like California-based Fisker Automotive and Tesla MotorsTSLA +0.63% . This is a very poor deal for taxpayers.

The electric car might be great in a couple of decades but as a way to tackle global warming now it does virtually nothing. The real challenge is to get green energy that is cheaper than fossil fuels. That requires heavy investment in green research and development. Spending instead on subsidizing electric cars is putting the cart before the horse, and an inconvenient and expensive cart at that.

Mr. Lomborg is director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center in Washington, D.C.

This Week: House to Begin Work on Balanced Budget to Help Grow Our Economy, Expand Opportunity for All Americans

MARCH 10, 2013

This week, the House of Representatives will begin work on a balanced budget that will promote economic growth and help expand opportunity for all Americans. Watch Speaker John Boehner preview the budget here and read more below.

MORE FROM THE SPEAKER’S BLOG:

GOP working on a responsible, balanced budget: Speaker Boehner says the budget to be unveiled by Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) this week will “cut wasteful spending, fix our broken tax code to create more jobs and increase wages, and protect and strengthen important priorities like Medicare.”
President Obama could have longest budget delay of any incumbent president: While the House works on a plan for a balanced budget and a healthier economy, President Obama’s budget is already more than a month late.
180 economists agree spending is the problem: Washington’s spending binge has led to a booming deficit that economists say is hurting families and our economy. Tell us what you think and share the economists' statement with your friends.
Fixing our tax code for all Americans: Speaker Boehner told CNBC’s Larry Kudlow we need to fix our tax code – closing loopholes and lowering rates for everyone – to help create new jobs and increase wages for working families.
There’s no reason to delay Keystone XL pipeline a second longer: In a new video, Speaker Boehner says Keystone holds the promise of new American jobs and more affordable energy for middle-class families.
70 percent of Americans support Keystone XL: A new survey showed broad, bipartisan support for the Keystone pipeline. Speaker Boehner said the president needs to stand up for middle class jobs and approve Keystone.
U.S. Capitol still welcoming visitors: As Americans continued to deal with having their long-planned White House tours canceled, Speaker Boehner assured taxpayers and tourists that the Capitol remains open for tours.
Before cancelling White House tours or raising taxes… here are some examples of government waste that can be cut. Remember: every American has a $52,000 share of the national debt. Spending is the problem.
Preventing White House from gutting welfare reform: The House Ways & Means Committee approved H.R. 890, a bill to stop the Obama administration from gutting work requirements in the 1996 bipartisan welfare reform law.
Keeping government open: The House approved a straightforward measure to keep the government running – now Senate Democrats need to take action and approve the House bill.
House Historian unveils new site on the Civil Rights movement: The House historian’s new website preserves testimonies from Members of Congress who contributed to the historic civil rights movement.
House Republicans host Millennial Meetup: House Republicans recently met with 20 young leaders to discuss how Washington’s spending problem is hurting young Americans and threatening future generations. Video here.

How can you explain a Nobel Peace Prize based on zero accomplishments?
How can you explain the idiots at Sports Illustrated who named in one of the 50 Most Powerful People In Sports when he couldn’t even secure the 2016 Olympics for America. How effin cute that the SI crew named the 44th President of the United States the 44th powerful people in sports?
Hell, how can you explain that he became the 44th President of the United States with little or no verified personal background (although we know he was a druggie), associations with communists, socialists, terrorists, and convicted felons, and zero experience in anything other than affirmative action jobs promoted by so-called “mentors?”
If shooting hoops and playing golf qualified someone for being powerful in the sports world, there are any number of better qualified candidates. Considering he wasn’t ranked last year, what do you suppose the source of his power really is?

Barack Obama

U.S. President

POTUS might be the ultimate global power player, but he also wields significant influence in the Republic of Sports. One relevant riff -- on his NCAA tourney picks, on his desire for a college football playoff, on his concern over permitting the sons that he doesn't have to play football -- and the sports world takes notice. Plus, the 51-year-old can shoot the J.

WHY IS PRESIDENT OBAMA LYING ABOUT GUN CONTROL AND NOT SPEAKING OUT ABOUT CRIME CONTROL?
Posted: 09 Mar 2013 08:02 PM PST
Once again, I received an e-mail asking me to “Join President Obama and Demand Action on Guns …

The truth is that their campaign is a lie! Gun control does not reduce violence, crime control does.

The truth is that crazies and criminals will always get weapons, be they guns, knives, baseball bats, automobiles, chemicals and explosives.

The truth is that crazies and criminals do not respect the law and most often do not obtain weapons through a registration process.

The truth is that disarming more law-abiding citizens only enlarges the victim pool.

The truth is that gun-free zones are safe killing zones for criminals and the deranged.

The truth is that most people cannot wait until help arrives minutes later when it is seconds that count.

The truth is that calling 911 in the face of an armed assailant is tantamount to calling dial-a-prayer.

Why is Obama and his fellow travelers lying to the American public, ignoring crime control in favor of gun control?

Because they are afraid to tell you that most violent gun-related crime occurs in democrat-governed areas, where strict gun controls are already in place.

Because they are afraid to tell you that most violent gun-related crime occurs in the inner cities which are predominantly minority and comprise a large segment of the democrat voter base.

Because they are afraid to tell you that most violent gun-related crime is associated with minority gangs fighting over turf and respect. With collateral damage – the killing of innocent unarmed citizens going virtually unnoticed by the politicians and mainstream media except in high-profile cases.

And, because they are afraid of the true meaning of the Constitution’s Second Amendment, armed citizens banding together in militias to combat government tyranny. Not the crazy survivalist paramilitary militias that are based on race, color, ethnicity or some other demographic. But, the ones that will stop the government from disarming law-abiding citizens and turning them into victims.

Bottom line …

You can not expect law-abiding people to simply give up their right to self-protection or to rely on the assistance of the authorities which may not come.

You cannot criminalize the behavior of law-abiding citizens and expect them to simply beg for their lives when then encounter criminals.

It’s up to you .. live free or die a cowering before a criminal or crazy.

It appears that the Obama Administration is targeting the Republicans – using a combination of charm, lying and chaos – to prove the Republicans are incapable of cooperation in governance and therefore need to be replaced in the 2014 election. Thus allowing Obama and his fellow travelers an unrestricted ability to pass gun control, comprehensive immigration, additional health programs and climate control in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

But looking at Obama’s behavior makes me wonder if “We the People” have a nutter in office …

Circular firing squads are about as helpful as they sound, yet they are something at which some Republicans excel. I do my best to avoid engaging in them. To paraphrase President Reagan, my 80 percent friend is not my 20 percent enemy. But sometimes my 80 percent friends do something 100 percent stupid, and pretending they didn’t could cause more damage than calling them out on it.

Consider Sen. John McCain. Few have honed their circular firing squad skills to the level of the senior Senator from Arizona. McCain fancies himself a lot of things – a conservative, a leader, a “maverick.” But mostly he’s an insecure egomaniac more interested in Sunday show bookings and favorable media coverage than adhering to principles.

On Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., engaged in an epic 12-plus-hour filibuster to demand an answer on domestic drone use against American citizens while a dozen Republicans, including McCain, dined and played footsie with President Obama. When the filibuster ended, Sen. Paul got from the administration something few Republicans or even journalists have been able to – an answer.

Through his actions, Paul not only got the Obama administration to commit something to paper they were reluctant – if not unwilling – to admit, he also reinvigorated the grassroots and engaged people in a way the party hasn’t been able to do with hundreds of millions of dollars spent on campaigns. He got disinterested young people to pay attention, to question a president that largely hasn’t, if even for half a day.

For this, Sen. Paul was rightly praised by people across the political spectrum.

But this wasn’t good enough for Sen. McCain, who is not known to enjoy sharing the spotlight.

The next day, with the political world still abuzz from Paul’s actions, McCain couldn’t help but criticize him.

McCain, a man who could be counted on to routinely attack the Bush administration as guilty of torture for pouring water up the nose of three, count them – THREE, of the world’s most despicable terrorists, thought Paul “ill-informed” to think any president ever would use armed drones against Americans on U.S. soil. To think the worst of a president in one case and assume the best of another, and all future others, in another case is intellectually inconsistent, to put it mildly.

But McCain was not alone in his hypocrisy, as he rarely is. His “mini-me,” presidential dining partner and devout clone in all things critical of his own party, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., was right there with him. The next two days saw Sens. Mutt and Jeff avail themselves of every possible opportunity to try to devalue what Sen. Paul accomplished.

REDNECK LENT

Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill and cook a venison steak. But, all of Bubba's neighbors were Catholic and since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating meat on Friday.

The delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing such a problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their priest. The Priest came to visit Bubba, and suggested that he become a Catholic.

After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass and as the priest sprinkled holy water over him, he said, "You were born a Baptist, and raised a Baptist, but now you are a Catholic."

Bubba's neighbors were greatly relieved, until Friday night arrived, and the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood.

The Priest was called immediately by the neighbors, and, as he rushed into Bubba's yard, clutching a rosary and prepared to scold him, he stopped and watched in amazement.

There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water which he carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat and chanted: "You wuz born a deer, you wuz raised a deer, but now you is a catfish".

BEST SUMMATION OF BARACK AND MICHELLE OBAMA EVER

Mychal Massie is a respected writer and Black talk show host in Los Angeles.

The other evening on my twitter, a person asked me why I didn't like the Obama's? Specifically I was asked: "I have to ask, why do you hate the Obama's? It seems personal, not policy related. You even dissed (disrespect) their Christmas family picture."
The truth is I do not like the Obamas, what they represent, their ideology, and I certainly do not like his policies and legislation. I've made no secret of my contempt for the Obamas. As I responded to the person who asked me the aforementioned question, I don't like them because they are committed to the fundamental change of my/our country into what can only be regarded as a Communist state.
I don't hate them per definition, but I condemn them because they are the worst kind of racialists, they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America. They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds, and for those who are willing to admit same, Michelle Obama's raw contempt for white America is transpicuous.
I don't like them because they comport themselves as emperor and empress. I expect, no I demand respect, for the Office of President and a love of our country and her citizenry from the leader entrusted with the governance of same. President and Mrs. Reagan displayed an unparalleled love for the country and her people. The Reagan's made Americans feel good about themselves and about what we could accomplish. Obama's arrogance by appointing 32 leftist czars and constantly bypassing congress is impeachable. Eric Holder is probably the MOST incompetent and arrogant DOJ head to ever hold the job. Could you envision President Reagan instructing his Justice Department to act like jack-booted thugs?
Presidents are politicians and all politicians are known and pretty much expected to manipulate the truth, if not outright lie, but even using that low standard, the Obama's have taken lies, dishonesty, deceit, mendacity, subterfuge and obfuscation to new depths. They are verbally abusive to the citizenry, and they display an animus for civility.
I do not like them, because they both display bigotry overtly, as in the case of Harvard Professor Louis Gates, when he accused the Cambridge Police of acting stupidly, and her code speak pursuant to now being able to be proud of America. I view that statement and that mindset as an insult to those who died to provide a country where a Kenyan, his illegal alien relatives, and his alleged progeny, could come and not only live freely, but rise to the highest, most powerful, position in the world. Michelle Obama is free to hate and disparage whites because Americans of every description paid with their blood to ensure her right to do same.
I have a saying, that "the only reason a person hides things, is because they have something to hide." No president in history has spent over a million dollars to keep his records and his past sealed.
And what the two of them have shared has been proved to be lies. He lied about when and how they met, he lied about his mother's death and problems with insurance, Michelle lied to a crowd pursuant to nearly $500,000 bank stocks they inherited from his family. He has lied about his father's military service, about the civil rights movement, ad nausea. He lied to the world about the Supreme Court in a State of the Union address. He berated and publicly insulted a sitting Congressman. He has surrounded himself with the most rabidly radical, socialist academicians today. He opposed rulings that protected women and children that even Planned Parenthood did not seek to support. He is openly hostile to business and aggressively hostile to Israel. His wife treats being the First Lady as her personal American Express Black Card (arguably the most prestigious credit card in the world). I condemn them because, as people are suffering, losing their homes, their jobs, their retirements, he and his family are arrogantly showing off their life of entitlement - as he goes about creating and fomenting class warfare.
I don't like them, and I neither apologize nor retreat from my public condemnation of them and of his policies. We should condemn them for the disrespect they show our people, for his willful and unconstitutional actions pursuant to obeying the Constitutional parameters he is bound by, and his willful disregard for Congressional authority.
Dislike for them has nothing to do with the color of their skin; it has everything to do with their behavior, attitudes, and policies. And I have open scorn for their constantly playing the race card.
I could go on, but let me conclude with this. I condemn in the strongest possible terms the media for refusing to investigate them, as they did President Bush and President Clinton, and for refusing to label them for what they truly are. There is no scenario known to man, whereby a white president and his wife could ignore laws, flaunt their position, and lord over the people, as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.
As I wrote in a syndicated column titled, "Nero In The White House" - "Never in my life, inside or outside of politics, have I witnessed such dishonesty in a political leader. He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed. Even by the low standards of his presidential predecessors, his narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequalled. Using Obama as the bar, Nero would have to be elevated to sainthood... Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation, and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders. He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement - while America's people go homeless, hungry and unemployed.”

The Right to Self-Defense Judge Andrew Napolitano

Townhall Columnists Judge Andrew Napolitano

Mar 07, 2013

In all the noise caused by the Obama administration's direct assault on the right of every person to keep and bear arms, the essence of the issue has been drowned out. The president and his big-government colleagues want you to believe that only the government can keep you free and safe, so to them, the essence of this debate is about obedience to law.

To those who have killed innocents among us, obedience to law is the last of their thoughts. And to those who believe that the Constitution means what it says, the essence of this debate is not about the law; it is about personal liberty in a free society. It is the exercise of this particular personal liberty -- the freedom to defend yourself when the police cannot or will not and the freedom to use weapons to repel tyrants if they take over the government -- that the big-government crowd fears the most.

Let's be candid: All government fears liberty. By its nature, government is the negation of liberty. God has given us freedom, and the government has taken it away. George Washington recognized this when he argued that government is not reason or eloquence but force. If the government had its way, it would have a monopoly on force.

Government compels, restrains and takes. Thomas Jefferson understood that when he wrote that our liberties are inalienable and endowed by our Creator, and the only reason we have formed governments is to engage them to protect our liberties. We enacted the Constitution as the supreme law of the land to restrain the government. Yet somewhere along the way, government got the idea that it can more easily protect the freedom of us all from the abuses of a few by curtailing the freedom of us all. I know that sounds ridiculous, but that's where we are today.

The anti-Second Amendment crowd cannot point to a single incident in which curtailing the freedom of law-abiding Americans has stopped criminals or crazies from killing. It is obvious that criminals don't care what the law says because they think they can get away with their violations of it. And those unfortunates who are deranged don't recognize any restraint on their own behavior, as they cannot mentally distinguish right from wrong and cannot be expected to do so in the future, no matter what the law says.

The Federal Government has already formed its 'army of oppression'. It's pretty common knowledge the The Department of Homeland Security has purchased massive amounts of ammo and armored military vehicles of the type used in Iraq. If any group starts any kind of armed insurrection, they will be annilated. We have allowed the one world Marxist crowd to take over the country and the cost will be more than we can bear.

Kennesaw, Ga. is now not the only town where authorities are trying to get a gun in each household, with sensible exceptions. Kennesaw has an admirably low rate of robbery and an exemplary record on public safety. Naturally, Obama's cheerleaders, the News outlets, have not noted Kennesaw success. And now another town has come on board.

Sorry judge, but words being as important as we know they are, you have used a few that are an ill fit. The Second is not about personal self-defense. It is about the defense of a free State. That is what it says. Those words mark out a rather profound difference in how the right ought to be exercised.
Now, to assuage those who wonder if that orphans a right to self-defense, it easily umbrellas under the second. It also has two other places in the constitution it resides, one of which is, I think, a more perfect fit. Self defense, hunting, collecting, gun shows, the shooting sports all are covered fully under the Ninth Amendment and the Tenth Amendment.
The second is about war making capabilities. Let's not water it down.

I disagree. The second amendment is a doomsday provision assuring our right to protect against tyrannies, including abusive government. Essentially giving us the ability to self-defend our rites and state of being free. I think the smart people might call us, the armed citizenry, "non-state actors" in this scenario.

The second amendment does not limit your right to be arms for that purpose, but specifically enumerates it. In my opinion it is enumurated because the founders new it there would always be efforts to undermine it.

The right to self-defense is a natural individual right that pre-exists the government. It cannot morally or constitutionally be taken away absent individual consent or due process.
I have a question: If a person has been convicted of a felony, should this take away their right to self defense for the rest of their life? Mind you that if a felon (previously convicted) decides to get a gun the existence of a law against him having a gun will no more prevent him from obtaining that gun than other laws that he has decided to break.

Too few people realize that (picture this in italics) governments to not grant rights.

In the absence of all government, rights are constrained by God alone. If we, for the moment, confine our discussion to the purely human realm, there are no restrictions on rights because there is no authority promulgate them, much less enforce them beyond one's own conscience. Clearly, in such a world where any behavior in one's (or one's community's) self interest is permissible, life is dangerous and frightening.

Thus, the D of I first states life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as God-given rights, and then declares government's proper role as protector of those rights. It does so by restricting the right to do what contradicts them.

The majority of people get the words "rights" and "privilege" mixed up.

For example, someone will say "Owning a house is a right".
No, "Owning a house is a privilege (after you have worked for it)".

So maybe we can say that God grants rights and the government may grant privileges. I know that's simplifying the issue, but I think everyone can get my drift.

Our fore-father, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay when they wrote the
U.S. Constitution put the Second Amendment giving people the right to keep and bear
firearms because they knew that a "FREE PEOPLE ARE AN ARMED PEOPLE." However,
we now have a president who thinks he is our king and who wants totalitarian powers over
American citizens. Obama's actions for the last five years show that he is willing to say and do
almost anything to gain more power over citizens and that he holds our Constitution in contempt.
The major question now is what is the Department of Homeland Security planning to do
with over 1.6 billion rounds of ammo, over 7000 M-16s and now 2712 armored trucks. Will our guns be seized by military force?

Good column in general, but just to nitpick on the Judge's history.

There were some volunteers that owned and were experts at using long rifles. There were also companies of British and Hessians that had similar rifles and skills. This type of weapon was not very widespread, nor ultimately decisive for either side.

Both sides mostly used muskets, which not too accurate beyond 50 yards.

Chavez Gone and Soon Forgotten ...May God Bless Venezuela With Freedom & Liberty

USA TODAY editorial, March 5

Few Americans will lament the passing of Hugo Chavez, the charismatic leftist leader who relentlessly antagonized the United States during 14 years ruling Venezuela. But the more significant fact might be that few will even care.

Chavez, who died of cancer Tuesday at 58, spent his career trying to be a latter-day Fidel Castro, to whom he was both protege and patron. He nationalized Venezuela’s oil industry, lambasted what he called Yankee meddling in South America, and allied himself with Cuba to spread the Castro creed and subsidize the failing Cuban economy. But with one brief exception, tacit support for a failed coup that briefly deposed Chavez in 2002, the United States avoided taking the bait.

It launched no trade embargo like the one against Cuba. It spewed no vitriol to match Chavez’s steady stream of invective. For the most part, it avoided meddling in Venezuela’s internal affairs, leaving its people to live with their democratically elected choice.

And in so doing, it deprived Chavez of the weapon he most needed to attain his ambition: spreading his “Bolivarian revolution” throughout Latin America. Without an active U.S. foil, he could not as easily exploit the region’s long-standing anti-American grievances.

That’s not to say that he didn’t try, or that he didn’t attain some success.

Brazil, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Argentina have leftist leaders allied to one degree or another with Chavez and Castro. They all share Chavez’s ambitions, but lacking his charisma and Venezuela’s oil wealth, they’re even less likely to succeed. If the post-Cold War emergence of stable, economically successful democracies in the region continues, they’ll eventually be replaced.

Even in Venezuela, Chavez’s legacy is in doubt. His chosen successor, Vice President Nicolas Maduro, faces a stiff challenge from a Chavez opponent in elections expected next month. Maduro might win with sentiment and Cuban support, but compared with Chavez, he is a relatively bland figure unlikely to be another “president for life.”

In fact, it could well turn out that Chavez’s legacy will be a familiar and pedestrian one: that of the popular leader who came to power democratically then behaved more like a dictator, claiming virtually all power for himself and leaving behind little but instability. South America has seen it before.

Before World War II, Argentina was as wealthy as the United States. By the time it disposed of Juan Peron, a populist of the Chavez sort, just more corrupt, it was a basket case.

The lesson for the United States is that absent a direct threat like the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, our southern neighbors should be left to find their own way, even if it is dead wrong. Chavismo, like its many ideological predecessors, will eventually fail.

Had the United States historically taken such a hands-off approach, anti-Americanism would be far less of a problem in the hemisphere today.

Had it taken that approach with Cuba for the past 50 years, the U.S. would have spared itself and Cubans a lot of needless grief. Instead, it imposed an embargo that has achieved nothing other than to give Castro an excuse for his failures.

The lesson to be learned about the Chavez era is that populist leftists are permanently woven into South America political fabric, and the best way to handle them is to wait them out and let them fail on their own.

FLORIDA CABINET APPROVES CAMP BLANDING FLORIDA FOREVER PURCHASE ~Land will provide environmental, military buffering benefits~

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 7, 2013
CONTACT: DEP Press Office, 850.245.2112, DEPNews@dep.state.fl.us

TALLAHASSEE – Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet today approved the purchase of 1,578 acres in Clay County that will provide conservation value and military buffering for Camp Blanding as part of a Forever Florida Project.

The acquisition of this land is a collaborative effort between the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Department of Defense. The total cost of the 1,578 acres is $2.1 million, with the state paying $600,000 and the U.S. Department of Defense paying $1.5 million. Federal funding is available through a cooperative agreement between DEP and the Army National Guard Bureau.

"By approving this land acquisition, you continue to ensure the local and state economy will thrive, you will ensure these sensitive lands are conserved and citizens will be able to use them and will also ensure that our Army National Guard and other military units will have the environment to properly train and prepare our military men and women to protect Florida and our nation," said Lt. Gov Jennifer Carroll at Thursday's Cabinet meeting.

“The purchase of land near Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, the premier National Guard training site in Florida, is a win for Florida and a win for our military,” said DEP Secretary Herschel T. Vinyard Jr. “This land provides environmental protection benefits as well as a buffer to aid the military in its preparation to protect Floridians.”

Public acquisition of this project will contribute to the Florida Forever goals by increasing the protection of Florida’s biodiversity of species, the natural community and landscape as well as protecting, restoring and maintaining the quality and natural functions of land, water, and wetland systems of the state. There are four major blackwater streams from three major river basins originating within the Camp Blanding – Raiford Greenway project area, as well as several headwaters and tributaries. The purchase will also increase the amount of forestland necessary for continued natural resource management.

"Camp Blanding Joint Training Center is a major training environment for various local, state and federal organizations as well as the military, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue preserving the natural habitat that surrounds it," said Maj. Gen. Emmett Titshaw Jr, Adjutant General of Florida. "We certainly appreciate working together with Camp Blanding's neighbors to enhance our Florida Forever goals."

This land will provide a natural buffer to Camp Blanding’s training center and allow soldiers and equipment the necessary training area, thereby limiting disruption to neighboring residents. It will limit development in the vicinity of Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, provide proper space for military ranges and ensure that Florida remains the most military friendly state in the country. The Florida Department of Military Affairs, Florida Armory Board will manage the property as a natural forested area.

“DEP and Camp Blanding have been important partners with the District in our work to protect water resources in north Florida,” said St. Johns River Water Management District Executive Director Hans G. Tanzler III. “This property will provide protection of water quality in the area and may also have a future in enhancing public water supplies.”

This is the second acquisition in recent months that aids the Department in fulfilling its mission to buffer military installations and provide environmental benefits to Florida. In December, Florida acquired a conservation easement on Seven Runs Creek as part of a Deepwater Horizon oil spill settlement. That 2,336 acre parcel of Seven Runs Creek will provide an environmentally protected connection, in perpetuity, between Eglin Air Force base and the Choctawhatchee River Water Management Area,
