Ask Governor Scott to involve the public and private stakeholders to develop a plan to correct Florida’s water quality issues. While freshwater springs are not a major feature of southwest Florida, they do suffer many of the ills as our local waterways – over consumption of water supplies and excessive nutrient pollution.  Springs are also a valuable part of Florida’s economy, tourism and natural beauty and they deserve to be protected.  In the last 10 years, many of the famous freshwater springs and rivers in the central and northern parts of the state have seen a sharp drop-off in flows and a steady rise in algae, including Silver Springs and the Silver River. LATEST OPEN-SOURCE CYBERSECURITY SOFTWARE APPROVED FOR GOVERNMENT USE   DHS S&T co-sponsors validation of publically available cryptography software   Washington, DC– The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) today announced the validation and availability of an open-source cybersecurity tool for securing information shared across the Internet.  Government agencies required to use cryptographic software validated to Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS),  will now have access to Open Secure Socket Layer (OpenSSL v2.0), a free, publicly available security software that meets federal security guidelines.   “OpenSSL is a widely-used component in many software security applications,” said Luke Berndt, DHS Program Manager for the Homeland Open Security Technology (HOST) program. The mission of the HOST program is to identify viable and sustainable open source solutions that support national cybersecurity objectives. “With this program available for government use, the nation’s critical online information will be safer while the government will find greater cost savings.”   The National Institute of Standards and Technology validated the Open SSL using the FIPS 140-2 security standard for testing cryptographic modules.  This validation is required for cryptography used to protect sensitive or valuable data within the federal government.  The validation process was funded by DHS S&T and other government agency and private sector partners.   “DHS S&T’s investment in the validation process for OpenSSL will help government users access the latest security software, and allow software developers to integrate OpenSSL into the products they offer to government clients,” said Berndt. “This collaborative effort is a great example of how government and industry can both benefit from the use of open source software.”   More information about the new FIPS 140-2 validated OpenSSL module is available at http://openssl.org/.

Did y'all see Diane Sawyer's special report? They removed ALL items from a typical, middle class family's home that were not made in the USA . There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally. During the special they showed truckloads of items - USA made - being brought in to replace everything and talked about how to find these items and the difference in price etc.. It was interesting that Diane said if every American spent just $64 more than normal on USA made items this year, it would create something like 200,000 new jobs! I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT WALMART and ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA ' FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA ' I WAS SHOCKED SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE SINCE IT'S FROM CALIF Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think? The Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets. 70% of Americans,.. believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended. Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? You Can..DO IT YOURSELF,AMERICA !! Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without. Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example. The point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own. THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Americans each refuse to buy just $20 of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!! Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on Aug. 1st and continue it until Sept. 1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they might have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it. Remember, August 1st to Sept. 1st !START NOW. Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted. If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives,WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET! Pass it on, America ... Well, come to think of it, instead of doing it for just 1 month why not try to do it all the time.

It is time that George Bush step aside so that Obama can get his presidency going. Barack Obama is setting a record-setting number of records during his first term in office: Largest budget ever. Largest deficit ever. Largest number of broken promises ever. Most self-serving speeches ever. Largest number of agenda-setting failures ever. Fastest dive in popularity ever! Wow! Talk about change. Just three years ago, fresh from his inauguration celebrations, President Obama was flying high. After one of the nation's most inspiring political campaigns, the election of America 's first black president had captured the hopes and dreams of millions. To his devout followers, it was inconceivable that a year later his administration would be gripped in self-imposed crisis. Of course, they don't see it as self-imposed. It's all George Bush's fault ! George Bush, who doesn't have a vote in congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all. He broke Obama's promise, to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them. He broke Obama's promise, to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN. He broke Obama's promise, to end earmarks. He broke Obama's promise, to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent. He broke Obama's promise, to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year. He broke Obama's promise, to make peace with direct, no precondition talks with America 's most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation. He broke Obama's promise, to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs. He broke Obama's promise, to end no-compete contracts with the government. He broke Obama's promise, to disclose the names of all attendees at closedWhite House meetings. He broke Obama's promise, for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters. He broke Obama's promise, to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter. Yes, it's all George Bush's fault! President Obama is nothing more than a puppet in the never-ending failed Bush administration. If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, all of President Obama 's problems would be solved. His promises would have been kept, the economy would be back on track, Iran would have stopped its work on developing a nuclear bomb and would be negotiating a peace treaty with Israel . North Korea would have ended its tyrannical regime, and integrity would have been restored to the federal government. Oh, and did I mention what it would be like, if the Democrats, under the previous leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, didn't have the heavy yoke of George Bush around their necks? There would be no ear marks, no closed-door drafting of bills, no increase in deficit spending, no special-interest influence (unions), no vote buying (Nebraska, Louisiana). If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, we'd have real change by now. All the broken promises, all the failed legislation and delay (health care reform, immigration reform) is not President Obama 's fault or the fault of the Democrat-controlled Congress. It's all George Bush's fault ! Take for example the decision of Eric Holder, the president's attorney general, to hold terrorists' trials in New York City. Or his decision to try the Christmas Day underpants bomber as a civilian. Two disastrous decisions. Certainly those were bad judgments based on poor advice from George Bush! Need more proof? You might recall that when Scott Brown won the election to the U.S. Senate fromMassachusetts, capturing "The Ted Kennedy Seat", President Obama said,Brown's victory was the result of the same voter anger that propelled Obama into office in 2008. People were still angry about George Bush and the policies of the past 10 years. And they wanted change. Yes, according to the president, the voter rebellion in Massachusetts , was George Bush's fault. Therefore, in retaliation, they elected a Republican to the Ted Kennedy seat, ending a half-century of domination by Democrats. It is all George Bush 's fault ! Will the failed administration of George Bush ever end, and the time for hope and and change ever arrive ??? Will President Obama ever accept responsibility for something/anything? But on Obama, she said, “I don’t believe for a moment that he goes out and talks about it.” Attorney General Eric Holder has launched an investigation looking into the leaks that revealed cyber-attacks against Iran and a plot by al Qaida to bomb an airliner. Republicans have been critical of the White House over recent leaks, blaming the administration for playing politics with national security.
