Nightmare

In the nightmare, I'm naked in bed, looking at a mirror on the ceiling. I discover that I am a Negro, and I'm circumcised!

Quickly I sit up, grab my pants and look in the pockets to find my driver's license photo. Yup, the photo is that same color. Black.

I feel myself getting very depressed. Downcast, I sit down in a chair. But it's a wheelchair!

That means, of course, besides being black and Jewish, I'm also disabled!

I say to myself, aloud, "This is impossible! It's impossible that I should be black and Jewish and disabled!"

"It's the pure and unvarnished truth," whispers someone from behind me.

I turn around, and it's my boyfriend.

Just what I need!!! I am a homosexual, and on top of that, with a Mexican boyfriend. Oh, my God! I'm black, Jewish, disabled, gay with a Mexican boyfriend, drug addict, and HIV-positive!!!

Desperate, I begin to shout, cry. I try to pull my hair, and . . . Oh, nooooo -- I'm bald!!!

The telephone rings. It's my brother. He is saying, "Since mom and dad died, the only thing you do is hang out, take drugs, and laze around all day doing nothing. Get a job, you worthless piece of crap. Any job!"

Mom? Dad? Nooooo ..... Now I'm also an unemployed orphan!

I try to explain to my brother how hard it is to find a job when you are black, Jewish, disabled, gay with a Mexican boyfriend, a drug addict, HIV positive, bald, and an orphan, but he doesn't get it.

Frustrated, I hang up. It's then I realize I only have one hand!!!

With tears in my eyes, I go to the window to look out. I see I live in a shanty-town full of cardboard and tin houses! There is trash everywhere.

Suddenly I feel a sharp pain near my pacemaker.

Pacemaker?? Besides being black, Jewish, disabled, a fairy with a Mexican boyfriend, a drug addict, HIV positive, bald, orphaned, unemployed, an invalid with only one hand and a bad heart, I live in a crappy neighborhood!

At that very moment my boyfriend approaches and says to me, "Sweetie pie, love, my little black heart-throb. Have you decided what you are going to wear to Washington to meet Obama?"

Say it isn't so!!! I can handle being a black, disabled, one armed, drug-addicted, Jewish homosexual on a pacemaker who is HIV positive, bald, orphaned, unemployed, lives in a slum, and has a Mexican boyfriend, but please.....

Oh dear God, please don't tell me I'm a Democrat!!!

Angel Lights

Reacting to a post I did last Thursday, "A Prayer to our Guardian Angel," Scott M., an FOTM reader-commenter, sent us these extraordinary pictures he'd taken.

At the time when Scott took these pictures, he didn't see anything out of the ordinary. It was only when he looked at the photos that he saw them -- an angel, orbs of light, a golden candlestick, and a tiny cross over his son's heart.

It didn't matter what camera he used. The pictures all came out suffused with the extraordinary and the unexplainable.

Here are some of the pictures, with Scott's commentary. To protect the privacy of Scott's son, Max, I've superimposed a picture of a dove over the boy's face. (Click the pics to enlarge.)

1, Angel in the Window:

Scott writes: "This pic was taken in an old abandoned 1800′s church in North Florida. We were all alone, we just got through saying the Lord’s Prayer. Max looked at me and said, 'You know, Dad, Jesus made an awesome sacrifice for us.' Right then I snapped the picture. Later when I down loaded it I saw something in the window. Around the church outside there was nothing even close to the windows. I cropped it out and blew it up…and it blew me away. If you look close you can see her hands folded over her heart. You can even see her little fingers. At the bottom of the picture you can see where she manifested herself up from, like a traveling tube. She is smiling and her wings are spread. Just amazing."

"This picture of my son, Max, was taken inside our church. The window behind Max is the spot where the angel was seen. Notice the angel orbs of light around Max (indicated by the yellow arrows). There was also a tiny little orb of light on Max's chest."

See that golden candlestick on the left? In actuality, there was no golden candlestick when Scott took this pic. Here's his commentary: "The second is a golden candle stick to the left of my son. This is amazing. I believe it to be a sign of God's inner sanctuary ( The secret place of the most high, our hearts in His heart). As in the Holy of Holies within His temple. I was also led to Zachariah 4 and 5. Another amazing thing is I took the picture with a flash and yet the golden candlestick threw a shadow. How is that possible?"

Scott writes: "God has so showered me and my family with His loving grace and mercy. We have come back from utter desolation through our complete surrender to His love and will. I tell Him every day, 'Lord, I love you … and I appreciate you very much.' We have now, with much hard work and His guidance, turned generations of sickness and walking-away into repentance and spiritual closeness in our secret place of the Most High -- His hands. Thank you Lord."

Husband shoots 2 bank robbery suspects who kidnapped him, his wife

KHOU: COLUMBUS, Texas -- Two bank robbery suspects were shot in Colorado County Thursday night by a man who said they kidnapped him and his wife, a bank employee.

According to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, the couple had been held at gunpoint by the suspects inside their home just north of Columbus. They were then forced to drive to the First National Bank of Eagle Lake in Columbus.The suspects then forced the woman to take out an undisclosed amount of funds, investigators said.

“We believe they had knowledge that she was an employee of the bank for them to be at the residence and to take her back,” Sgt. Andrew Weido with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said.

He said the suspects then forced the husband to drive them in his truck south down Highway 71, and that's when the husband of the bank employee was able to gain access to a firearm inside the vehicle.

He fired at the suspects near County Road 101. Authorities then responded to a 911 call from the scene at 7:30 p.m. with the Columbus Police Department arriving first. When they arrived, officers found the two suspects with gunshot wounds lying on the ground near a pickup that was parked in a ditch.

One of the wounded, 20-year-old Jordan Kutach, was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. The other, 21-year-old Preston Kutach, was taken by EMS to the Columbus Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Both suspects lived in the community of Rock Island and neighbors said they were brothers.

The bank’s president, Sam Kana, tells KHOU 11 News he is thankful and blessed that the couple was not hurt. Those who know them said the husband is a reserve officer with the sheriff’s department and that the community has their back.

“I’m sure that they’re both going to be upset for awhile,” resident Brenda Buehler said. “It’s a frightening thing to have happen, but I think everybody’s going to tell them good job.” “It’s very positive to a community to hear that the good guy does win in the end,” resident Evan Mullins said. “It could have turned out so much worse,” store owner Debbie Damon said.

Investigators said the couple did not know their attackers, and it is unclear how they became targets.

They are not releasing their names, or surveillance video, which they said captures some of the crime still in progress. The Texas Rangers will be assisting with the sheriff’s investigation.

JBLM soldier reunited with life-saving helmet

The News Tribune: Sgt. Roger Daniels knows he’s alive and still walking because his Army-issued helmet did something it wasn’t supposed to do.

When enemy fighters ambushed his patrol in Afghanistan last year, his helmet somehow stopped a large-caliber machine gun round that should have easily penetrated it and gravely wounded the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) soldier.

Instead the bullet pierced the helmet, rattled around a bit and caused only a concussion and some cuts.

Daniels, 22, got to pick up the helmet Friday for the first time since the August 2012 attack.

The Army’s Virginia-based Program Executive Office Soldier, which manages the equipment soldiers use, had kept the helmet for much of the past year to study how it saved Daniels’ life. The information that was gleaned could improve plans for the Army’s next standard-issue helmet.

Daniels broke into a wide smile when he lifted it. He seemed to marvel at the equipment and his close brush with death.“I guess I just got lucky,” he said.

He serves in Lewis-McChord’s 109th Military Intelligence Battalion of the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade.Soldiers in his unit worked hard to get the helmet back from the Virginia office because they knew it was special to him. They also used his experience to encourage soldiers to maintain their equipment and listen when they’re advised about how to use it correctly.

The message is simple but powerful: “We had a soldier who was shot in the head and walked away with only a concussion,” said Capt. David White of the intelligence battalion. Their unit specializes in collecting and analyzing information on the battlefield. Daniels was shot on what was the battlion’s first mission outside the wire.

He was attached to an infantry platoon on overnight patrol in Afghanistan’s Ghazni Province. He was there to gather information that could be used to help the infantrymen. They stopped for the night in a compound and heard reports that insurgents were preparing to attack from three directions. Soldiers climbed on a roof and prepared for battle.

Hidden enemy fighters hit the rooftop with heavy machine guns. Three of the infantrymen were wounded. Daniels felt the bullet strike his helmet as if he was being clubbed with a bat, he said. He staggered off the rooftop and settled in on the ground floor. Fellow intelligence soldier Spc. Shiniah McKinney, 29, tried to keep him and the other wounded soldiers calm until they could be evacuated. “I was just in a daze, really,” Daniels said.

He spent a week at a head injury clinic in Afghanistan. He rejoined the team in Ghazni Province about a month later. He started going on missions right away.

He’s grateful for the care McKinney gave him on the day of the shooting. They’re close friends. “It’s beyond a mental bond,” McKinney said.

“When you’ve been shot with someone, it’s just like family,” Daniels said. He’s going to keep his damaged helmet for years to come, he said.

“It definitely did the job it was supposed to do, and then some,” said Master Sgt. Benjamin Owens of the Program Executive Office.

Creation: Kepler Supernova

The word "nova" means "new" in Latin, referring to what appears to be a very bright new star shining in the celestial sphere.

A star is a massive, luminous sphere of plasma held together by its own gravity. Our nearest star is the Sun, the source of most of the energy on Earth.

A supernova is an exploding star that is extremely luminous and causes a burst of radiation that often briefly outshines an entire galaxy, before fading from view over several weeks or months. During this short interval a supernova can radiate as much energy as the Sun is expected to emit over its entire life span. The explosion expels much or all of a star's material at a velocity of up to 10% of the speed of light, driving a shock wave into the surrounding interstellar medium. This shock wave sweeps up an expanding shell of gas and dust called asupernova remnant.

Using NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, a space telescope launched on the STS-93 Space Shuttle on July 23, 1999, scientists have created a stunning new image of one of the youngest supernova remnants in the Milky Way galaxy -- the Kepler Supernova, which is about 13,000 light years from Earth.

This new view of the debris of an exploded star helps astronomers solve a long-standing mystery, with implications for understanding how a star's life can end catastrophically and for gauging the expansion of the universe.

Over 400 years ago, sky watchers -- including the famous astronomer Johannes Kepler -- noticed a bright new object in the night sky. Since the telescope had not yet been invented, only the unaided eye could be used to watch as a new star that was initially brighter than Jupiter dimmed over the following weeks.

The explosion of the star that created the Kepler remnant blasted the stellar remains into space, heating the gases to millions of degrees and generating highly energized particles. Copious X-ray light, like that shining from many supernova remnants, was produced.

Astronomers have studied Kepler intensively over the past three decades with radio, optical and X-ray telescopes, but its origin has remained a puzzle. By comparing the relative amounts of oxygen and iron atoms in the Kepler supernova, a team of astronomers led by Stephen Reynolds of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., were able to determine that Kepler resulted from a Type Ia supernova. Such a supernova is produced when a white dwarf star pulls material from an orbiting companion until the white dwarf becomes unstable and is destroyed by a thermonuclear explosion.

Type Ia stars are the source of most of the iron in the universe.

In the Chandra Kepler image above, red represents low-energy X-rays and shows material around the star -- dominated by oxygen -- that has been heated up by a blast wave from the star's explosion. The yellow color shows slightly higher energy X-rays, mostly iron formed in the supernova, while green (medium-energy X-rays) shows other elements from the exploded star. The blue color represents the highest energy X-rays and shows a shock front generated by the explosion.

Many on Social Security Disability can but don’t want to work

More than a year ago, in May 2012, Lance Roberts wrote that"Without government largesse many individuals would literally be living on the street." As much as 1/5 or 22.5% of the average American's income is dependent on "government transfers."

One of those "government transfers" are Social Security Disability benefits.

There are two types of Social Security Disability benefits:

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI): Earned disability benefits for those who have held jobs for significant periods of time and paid at least partially into Social Security before becoming disabled.
Social Security Disability (SSI): Unearned disabilitybenefits for individuals who have petitioned to be classified as disabled, although many of them have never worked and have never paid into Social Security.

Under Obama, the number of Americans claiming disability has surged to the highest levels on record since the beginning of the last recession. What is most notable, however, is when the surge of disability claims began – exactly two years from the beginning of the financial crisis. This was when the 2 years of extended unemployment insurance began to run out.

Unlike welfare, disability isn't term-limited, and in some cases it's become permanent unemployment insurance for the unemployable or those who simply refuse to work.

Today, more than 28 million Americans who are of working age have a disability – a level higher than at any other time in recorded history. There are approximately 11 million SSDI or earned recipients and approximately 7 million SSI or unearned recipients.

But how many of those on disability are actually disabled?

Luke Rosiak reports for the Washington Examiner, July 30, 2013, that a study by the Social Security Administration found some disturbing, but unsurprising, attributes of disability recipients:

Recipients of federal disability checks often admit thatthey are capable of working but cannot or will not find a job.

Returning to work is not a goal for 71% of the SSDI recipients, and 60% of the SSI recipients.

Most have never received significant medical treatment and not seen a doctor about their condition in the last year, even though medical problems are the official reason they don't work.

Those who acknowledge they're on disability because they can't find a job say they make little effort to find one.

Of those who say they're actually looking for a job, most say they're looking only for part-time jobs that will allow them to keep their disability benefits.

The unearned disability recipients are in less pain than their counterparts who had paid into the system. In other words, they are using SSD as a substitute for welfare. These individuals are typically overweight, uneducated and from broken homes.

There are practical barriers to weaning recipients off the disability rolls. The jobs they'd be candidates for often don't provide health insurance, which is essential for those with medical problems, and they'd rather receive the SSD benefits. Many also say they don't have transportation to work.

72% of the small number of SSDI recipients who started a job while on disability got cash under the table, as did 70% of the small number of SSI recipients who started a job while on disability.

24% of the SSDI recipients lack even GEDs, as do 43% of the SSI recipients.

Only 18% of SSDI and 15% of SSI recipients said, during the past 4 weeks, they could not do social activities with family or friends because of their physical health or emotional problems.

As many as 96% of SSDI and 91% of SSD recipients admit whatever physical health or mental problems they have do not hinder or limit them from the kind or amount of work or other daily activities they do. In other words, they are not really so disabled they can't work.

47% of SSDI and 41% of SSD recipients are obese; 30% of both groups are overweight; only 21% of SSDI and 25% of SSD recipients are of normal weight.

28% of SSD recipients had never worked for pay, i.e., they never had a job!

Most SSD recipients don't bother to educate themselves about or avail themselves of government programs to wean them off disability, such as the Plan for Achieving Self-Support, Earned Income Exclusion, and Continued Medicaid Eligibility after they get off disability benefits.

Many disability recipients also receive other government welfare benefits: 28% of SSDI and 81% of SSD recipients are on Medicaid; 80% of SSDI and 42% of SSD recipients are on Medicare; 18% of SSDI and 52% of SSD recipients are on food stamps.

The lack of a spouse is a significant factor: 54% of SSDI and 88% of SSD recipients are not married.

11% of SSDI and 21% of SSD recipients have been receiving disability benefits for 20 years or more.

America’s national debt now exceeds our GDP and is closing in on $17 trillion. It doesn’t take an Albert Einstein to know that our super-extended welfare state cannot continue as it is. Indeed the danger signs are already visible.

In three years, by 2016, the first of the Social Security funds — Social Security Disability — will be in full collapse.

Brian Faler reports for The Washington Post, May 30, 2012:

“The disability program pays benefits averaging $1,111 a month, with the money coming from the Social Security payroll tax. The program cost $132 billion last year, more than the combined annual budgets of the departments of Agriculture, Homeland Security, Commerce, Labor, Interior and Justice. That doesn’t include an additional $80 billion spent because disability beneficiaries become eligible for Medicare, regardless of their age, after a two-year waiting period. The disability program is projected to exhaust its trust fund in 2016, according to a Social Security trustees report released last month. Once it runs through its reserve, incoming payroll-tax revenue will cover only 79% of benefits, according to the trustees. Because the plan is barred from running a deficit, aid would have to be cut to match revenue.”

Lastly, since the American Medical Association recently declared obesity to be a "disease," expect even more Americans to apply for and receive Social Security Disability benefits.

Christian university threatens to arrest and expel pro-life student

Biola University (BU) is a private, evangelical Christian, liberal arts university located in La Mirada, California.

On its website, the university identifies itself as providing "Biblically Centered Education." Its 2012-2022 motto, as proclaimed by university president Barry Corey is "A Soul of Conviction, a Voice of Courage."

In May 2013, Diana Jimenez, a Nursing student at BU, asked the university for permission to display pro-life signs on campus, including this poster, showing the results of abortion:

The university administration first sent Dean of Students Danny Paschall to "talk" to Jimenez. Not surprisingly, Paschall denied her request.

But, compelled by her conscience and invoking her Constitutional right to freedom of speech, Jimenez went ahead and displayed the poster of the aborted ~~fetuses~~ babies.

BU goon, John Ojeisekhoba

BU's Chief of Campus Security John Ojeisekhoba tore the poster from her hands. He also pompously forbade the video-taping of the incident and threatened "legal action" if the video is posted to "any site."

Then Ojeisekhoba threatened to "kick" Jimenez "off the campus" if she "acts the same way" by showing pro-life signs in the future. Being "kicked off campus" will mean she's expelled from the university and "can't graduate." He'll even sic "the sheriff" on her.

Although Biola University did not expel Jimenez, she is being punished. Her professors are instructed to refuse her requests for letters of recommendation, which is a death knell to her professional future as a nurse.

Groups go door-to-door to encourage enrollment in Obamacare

Washington Post: Her clipboard said the man who lived in the pink stucco apartment building a few blocks from the hotel-lined beach might not have health insurance. So Laura Botero climbed the darkened staircase to the second floor and knocked on the door.

Eduardo Devine, 49, an unemployed beach waiter in black, square-framed glasses, peeked into the dim hallway. He confirmed he had been without coverage since he was laid off a month ago, and his face lit up when Botero mentioned “Obamacare.”

For the health-care law to succeed, millions of Americans must sign up for insurance. It could be a tough sell.

The efforts come in advance of Oct. 1, when the law’s health-care marketplaces are set to open. “I just heard about it on the news, but I don’t know how it works,” he said, taking a pamphlet. “It will help. That’s all I know.”

It was a small but critical victory for Botero, a volunteer forEnroll America, a nonprofit group that is fielding a small army to spread the word about Obamacare. In recent weeks, President Obama’s signature health-care law entered a new phase as hundreds of advocates began the arduous task of identifying the uninsured and coaxing them, one by one, to sign up for coverage.

For the law to succeed, groups such as Enroll America, whose officials include several veterans of Obama campaigns, will need to cajole millions of Americans, including many healthy ones, to enter the insurance market. It could be a tough sell. Confusion about the law is rampant. The online insurance sites, which open for enrollment Oct. 1, could be tricky. Some people who rarely need medical care might view even low-cost health plans as too pricey.

And while advocates say that knocking on doors is one way to overcome these challenges, skeptics point out that such canvassing, which is modeled on successful political campaigns, is untested for a complex national program such as the Affordable Care Act. It’s also labor-intensive; Botero’s group, Enroll America, expects to talk to each person seven to eight times to encourage enrollment in a health plan.

“Obviously, we’ve got to find the uninsured, but we’ve got plenty of examples of finding the uninsured and letting them slip away,” said Stan Dorn, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute and a supporter of the law. He said such campaigns work only if the volunteers take the extra step of filling out the people’s forms — an even more laborious role that Enroll America does not plan to undertake.

Enroll America and other groups, including insurance companies and state health departments, are nevertheless taking their pitches directly to people’s doorsteps.

Starting next year, virtually all Americans must carry health insurance or face a fine. But advocates do not expect the penalty, which will start at $95 for the first year and rise to $695 or more annually for an individual in 2016, to be enough of a motivation. That is why they are relying on Enroll America and other groups to make the hard sell to people who, for various reasons, may not be eager to enroll.

A particular challenge is that 2.7 million of the new enrollees must be cheap-to-insure young and healthy people; otherwise, there will be too many older, sicker people and costs and premiums will rise.

If anyone comes knocking on my door asking me to enroll, I'll have two questions for them:

If this is so good for me, then:

1. Why is Obama throwing Capitol Hill a helping hand on ObamaCare?

And,

2. Why does the IRS chief say he'd rather not switch to the ObamaCare plan?

If these guys don't want it, then why is it so great for me?

Millionaire gay fathers to sue the Church of England for not allowing them to get married in the church

Daily Mail: The first legal challenge to the Church of England's ban on ~~same-sex~~ homosexual marriage was launched today - months before the first gay wedding can take place.

Gay father Barrie Drewitt-Barlow declared: 'I want to go into my church and marry my husband.' He added: 'The only way forward for us now is to make a challenge in the courts against the Church.'

The legal move means an early test for David Cameron's promise to the CofE and Roman Catholic bishops that no church would be forced to conduct ~~same-sex~~ homosexual weddings against the will of its leaders and its faithful.

Ministers set down a 'quadruple lock' in the new ~~same sex~~homosexual marriage law - which received Royal Assent last month - which is supposed to protect those churches which oppose ~~gay~~ homosexual marriage.

However the guarantees will have to be tested in the courts and ~~gay~~ homosexual rights groups have been expecting to bring an early challenge.

Mr. Drewitt-Barlow and his civil partner Tony have been a celebrated couple since 1999, when they became the first ~~gay~~homosexual couple to be named on the birth certificate of a child. They now have five children through surrogate mothers.

He said : 'We need to convince the church that it is the right thing for our community for them to recognise us as practising Christians.'

'I am a Christian - a practising Christian. My children have all been brought up as Christians and are part of the local parish church.' Mr Drewitt-Barlow, 42, who owns a surrogacy company based near the family home in Essex and is opening another in Los Angeles, added: 'If I was a Sikh I could get married at the Gurdwara. Liberal Jews can marry in the Synagogue - just not the Christians.

'It upsets me because I want it so much - a big lavish ceremony, the whole works.

He said it was a shame that he and his partner were being forced to take Christians to court to get them to recognise them, but he said the new law did not give them what they have been campaigning for.

Mr Drewitt-Barlow, who took out a civil partnership in 2006, added: 'It is like someone giving me a sweetie with the wrapper on and telling me to suck it.' Under the Government's ~~same-sex~~ homosexual marriage law, which is expected to lead the first gay wedding next summer, churches must legally opt in before they can conduct ~~same-sex~~homosexual ceremonies.

Those that hold objections to ~~gay~~ homosexual marriage have been told the quadruple lock will prevent the courts from forcing them to stage ~~gay~~ homosexual weddings against the conscience of priests and most congregations. The lock says that no religious organisation could be compelled to marry~~same-sex~~ homosexual couples or to permit this to happen on their premises.

It would be unlawful for ministers to marry ~~same-sex~~homosexual couples unless their organisation's governing body has opted into provisions for doing so. The Equality Act 2010 would be amended to ensure no discrimination claim could be brought against religious organisations for refusing to marry a ~~same-sex~~ homosexual couple.

The law also states that it is illegal for the Church of England and the Church in Wales to marry ~~same-sex~~ homosexual couples.

The CofE is also protected by its own internal canon laws, which are part of the law of land, which say marriages must be between a man and a woman.

However a succession of past court cases have resulted in defeats for Christians who were in disputes over equality laws, and in particular courts have always found in favour of~~gays~~ homosexuals who have challenged Christians.

In recent years notable cases have ended in the sacking of a town hall registrar who refused to conduct civil partnership ceremonies, the sack for a Relate counsellor who said he would not give sex advice to ~~gay~~ homosexual couples, and defeat for a couple who declined to let a room in their hotel to a ~~gay~~ homosexual couple on the grounds that they were unmarried.

Colin Hart, of the Coalition for Marriage said: 'The ink's not even dry on the Bill and churches are already facing litigation. We warned Mr Cameron this would happen, we told him he was making promises that he couldn't possibly keep.

'He didn't listen. He didn't care. He's the one who has created this mess. Mr. Cameron's chickens are coming home to roost and it will be ordinary people with a religious belief who yet again fall victim to the totalitarian forces of political correctness.'

Mr. Hart added: 'We now face the real prospect of churches having to choose between stopping conducting weddings, or vicars, and priests defying the law and finding themselves languishing in the dock.'

I'm not going to be surprised if this homosexual couple win their case. The homosexual agenda won't stop until they have every demand met, even if it violates someone else's religious beliefs.

Obama’s Benghazigate gets stinkier: Dozens of CIA agents were on the ground during 9-11 attack

No matter how much the POS airily dismisses his many scandals as "phony," at least one scandal -- Benghazigate -- will not go away but is getting ever stinkier.

None other than CNN is reporting that on the night of September 11, 2012, when four Americans -- U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, State Department officer Sean Smith, and ex-Navy SEALS Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods -- were killed during a terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, the CIA had dozens of operatives on the ground near the scene.

But the spy agency has engaged in an intimidation campaign of those agents to keep them quiet about the events of that night and why the CIA was in eastern Libya to begin with. The agents have been subjected to frequent polygraph examinations every month since January of this year, more frequent than the routine tests done every three to four years.

Former CIA operative and CNN analyst Robert Baer told CNN that "agency employees typically are polygraphed every three to four years. Never more than that. If somebody is being polygraphed every month, or every two months it's called an issue polygraph, and that means that the polygraph division suspects something, or they're looking for something, or they're on a fishing expedition. But it's absolutely not routine at all to be polygraphed monthly, or bi-monthly."

According to Fox News, at least 5 of those CIA spooks on the ground in Benghazi during the attack have been "told" to keep quiet:

One of CNN's sources described the CIA's attempts to silence its agents as "unprecedented": "You have no idea the amount of pressure being brought to bear on anyone with knowledge of this operation."

More than keeping those CIA agents silent, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) says the CIA is hiding them from the public, "changing [their] names, creating aliases," and dispersing them around the U.S.

In other words, the Obama regime is engaged in a massive Benghazi-gate cover-up.

So why were "dozens" of CIA spooks in Benghazi that night?

Breitbart.com reports that Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA), a sub-committee chairman of the Appropriations Committee, says “We’re getting calls from people who are close to people who were [in Benghazi at the time] that they [CIA] were moving guns [to Syrian rebels]. So where are the guns?” Wolf also wonders what Ambassador Chris Stevens was actually doing in Benghazi on that night: "Nobody knows, so I think there are so many questions from the failure to respond to where the guns went.”

Wolf is currently attempting to create a Select Committee to investigate the Benghazi attack by launching a discharge petition from committee. He needs 218 signatures to take the issue to a vote on the floor.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) first asked then-Secretary of StateHillary Clinton during a congressional hearing about her knowledge of any gun running coming out of the CIA annex in January. Clinton claimed she did not know anything about the issue and referred Paul to the CIA for such questions. Clinton also callously dismissed the deaths of Amb. Stephens and the other three Americans as old news: "What does it matter?"

Additionally, members of Congress’s Super Eight, (consisting of both parties’ leaders in both chambers, along with House and Senate Select Intelligence committee chairs and ranking members) would have been required to have been briefed on such gun running activity. Five of the eight members have either said they knew nothing about any gunrunning that was happening in Benghazi or claimed the issue cannot be spoken about because it is classified.

Stressed out, California porn professor enters rehab

Hugo Schwyzer (pic above), a California community college professor infamous for teaching a course on pornography, says he's cancelled the course and is going into rehab from all the stress.

Timothy Dionisopoulos reports for the excellent Campus Reform, Aug. 1, 2013, that two days ago, Professor Hugo Schwyzer of Pasadena City College (PCC) in southern California announced he's cancelled his controversial “Navigating Pornography” course, and said he's entering psychological rehab because of all the criticism he's received for offering the class.

Schwyzer is a professor of history and gender studies at PCC.

In March of this year, Schwyzer defended the "Navigating Pornography" course in an interview with The College Fix,calling the subject matter legitimate: "(The course) focuses on giving students tools to understand pornography as a historical and contemporary phenomenon. Students today live in a porn-saturated culture and very rarely get a chance to learn about it in a safe, non-judgmental, intellectually thoughtful way.”

Schwyzer said students do not view porn inside the classroom. Instead, they watch it on their own time as homework. Assignments include journals, a research paper, and a final exam.

Known widely as the “porn professor” who has admitted to "struggling" with drug addiction, domestic violence, and sexual relationships with some of his female studentsin the past, Schwyzer said in an email he is “exhausted by threats and controversy” and “need[s] a break” from teaching.

Poor baby!

He also blames university administrators for pressuring him to drop the course: “There is a very hostile climate at PCC right now, faculty do not get along with administrators, it’s the worst I’ve seen in 20 years.”

Schwzer also blames government legislators cutting funding for “explicit learning” (whatever that means), which “forces the porn industry to become teacher as well as amuser and arouser.”

The “Navigating Pornography” course garnered national headlines after Campus Reform reported on a public lecture Schwyzer had organized in February with porn star James Deen. BuzzFeed posted a YouTube video in which Schwyzer says it is pornography’s job to “inspire us” sexually.

PCC’s public relations department did not respond to a request for comment from Campus Reform in time of publication.

Tennessee newspaper fires editorial writer for anti-Obama headline

Are you still under the delusion that there is freedom of speech and freedom of the press in Amerika?

A Tennessee newspaper, the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times Free Press, just fired an editorial editor, Drew Johnson, for writing this headline:

Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough.

Jeff Poor reports for the Daily Caller, Aug. 1, 2013, that the headline greeted the POS when he visited Chattanooga, Tenn. earlier this week, as part of his PR blitz on the supposed "recovering" economy.

The editorial began:

Welcome to Chattanooga, one of hundreds of cities throughout this great nation struggling to succeed in spite of your foolish policies that limit job creation, stifle economic growth and suffocate the entrepreneurial spirit. Forgive us if you are not greeted with the same level of Southern hospitality that our area usually bestows on its distinguished guests. You see, we understand you are in town to share your umpteenth different job creation plan during your time in office. If it works as well as your other job creation programs, then thanks, but no thanks. We’d prefer you keep it to yourself.

In a story published on Thursday, the Chattanooga Times Free Press announced the firing of editor Drew Johnson and called his headline "inappropriate":

The headline was inappropriate for this newspaper. It was not the original headline approved for publication, and Johnson violated the normal editing process when he changed the headline. The newspaper’s decision to terminate Johnson had nothing to do with the content of the editorial, which criticized the president’s job creation ideas and Chattanooga’s Smart Grid. The Free Press page has often printed editorials critical of the president and his policies.

Obama aids enemy Muslims: $ to Hamas; military contracts to Taliban/al-Qaeda

On the afternoon of July 26, 2013, President Lucifer took advantage of it being Friday to pull a stunt.

As reported by The Washington Times, citing "national security interests," Obama waived Congress' ban on direct funding of the Palestinian Authority (PA), despite the PA's ties to the terrorist organization Hamas. In so doing, Obama cleared the way for $500 million of U.S. taxpayers' hard-earned dollars to be sent as "aid" to terrorists.

Now comes news that supporters of the brutal Taliban and the terrorist group al-Qaeda in Afghanistan have been getting U.S. military contracts! As my bud, FOTM's Steve, would say: Bring me more duct tape 'cause my head is about to explode.

Tony Capaccio reports for Bloomberg, July 29, 2013, that Obama administration officials, specifically the U.S. Army Suspension and Debarment Office (ASDO), are citing “due process rights” as a reason not to cancel the military contracts.

Worse still, according to John Sopko, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, ASDO has declined to act in 43 such cases, saying “They may be enemies of the United States but that is not enough to keep them from getting government contracts.”

In a letter accompanying a 236-page quarterly report to Congress, Sopko said:

“I am deeply troubled that the U.S. military can pursue, attack, and even kill terrorists and their supporters, but that some in the U.S. government believe we cannot prevent these same people from receiving a government contract. There appears to be a growing gap between the policy objectives of Washington and the reality of achieving them in Afghanistan, especially when the government must hire and oversee contractors to perform its mission."

According to the report, Sopko’s agency “has found it impossible to confirm” the number of contracts awarded in a $32 million program to install barricades, bars or gratings in culverts at about 2,500 Afghan locations to prevent insurgents from placing roadside bombs. The explosives are the biggest killer of U.S. and Afghan troops. In other words --

The military contracts awarded to the Taliban and al-Qaeda include having them undertake installations to prevent the same Taliban and al-Qaeda from placing roadside bombs that kill our troops.

Did you get that?

The U.S. has 60,000 troops in Afghanistan, with plans to reduce the number to 34,000 by next February, although Obama hasn’t decided how many to keep in the country after 2014 to train Afghan forces and engage in anti-terrorist missions.

The Obama administration has requested $10.7 billion in Afghanistan's "reconstruction" funding for fiscal 2014 to cover projects from improving local government to building roads and schools. But Sopko expressed pessimism that the U.S. can maintain effective oversight of billions of dollars in reconstruction spending as forces are withdrawn:

“Unless the U.S. government improves its contract-oversight policies and practices, far too much will be wasted. [The policy to create an effective Afghan Army, which has 185,287 troops] will remain hollow unless Washington pays equal attention to proper contracting and procurement activities to sustain those forces.”

As of March, 40,315 of the personnel working under Pentagon contracts in Afghanistan, or about 37%, were Afghan locals, according to Sopko's report.

In another report, Sopko said $47 million that the U.S. Agency for International Development has spent on a program to stabilize Afghanistan before U.S. troop withdrawals, hasn’t dealt with the sources of instability. An audit showed that after 16 months, none of the agency’s essential program objectives have been reached and the money spent has mostly financed workshops and training sessions.

Sopko said: “It’s troubling that after 16 months, this program has not issued its first community grant. Rather, it has spent almost $50 million, about a quarter of the total program budget, on conferences, overhead and workshops.”

Political correctness: ‘Brown bag,’ ‘citizens’ are out at Seattle City Hall

Seattle PI: Public affairs officers at Seattle city agencies were advised in a recent memo that use of the phrases “brown bag” and “citizens” are potentially offensive, and that the words must be chosen.

“Luckily, we’ve got options,” Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in a missive entitled “On ‘brown bags, ‘citizens’ and language”.

“For ‘brown bag,’ try ‘lunch-and-learn’ or ‘sack lunch,’”wrote Bronstein. “For ‘citizens,’ how about ‘residents?’ (Our Citizens Service Bureau became the Customer Service Bureau a few years ago.) Just thought I’d bring this up. Language matters, and the city has entrusted us with the keyboards.”

What could be the offense of using “brown bag” or “citizens,” especially having witness Mayor Mike McGinn’s special pleasure at the swearing in of new U.S. citizens at the Seattle Center on Independence Day.

“This issue came up in one of the departments and I thought I’d send it around as an fyi for your consideration. We often use the expression ‘brown bag’ to designate a bring-your-own lunch time event. We also use the word ‘citizens’ as a synonym for ‘residents.’

“Innocuous phrases, right? Mm, not so much for. For some people, the phrase ‘brown bag’ calls up ugly associations with use of the expression ‘brown bag’ to determine if people’s skin color was light enough to allow admission to an event, a home, etc.

“‘Citizens’ is a different case: We sometimes use it as another way of saying ‘members of the public’ — except for all the members of the public who aren’t actually citizens but who live and work here.”

Asked on Wednesday how the issue of ‘”brown bag” and “citizens” came up, Bronstein answered: “Boy, I don’t remember who raised it. It has come up now and again in the past.”

“The term ‘brown bag’ doesn’t bother everybody, but . . . there is a history behind use of it,” he added. “It is something easy to correct because there are alternatives.”

In Bronstein’s view, there are “a lot of normal terms once used as ‘normal’ that are not used so much any more.” He cited, as example, the term “gyp” as a synonym for an attempt to cheat someone. “I never realized until recently that it was shorthand for ‘gypsy’.”

City government has rightfully embraced all those who live within boundaries of the Emerald City. Indeed, the Mayor’s office has lately explored with King County the possibility of finding a way to give “permanent residents” the right to vote in local and municipal elections.

Language DOES matter — witness the recent excesses of Rush Limbaugh and various Fox News hosts — but isn’t the Office for Civil Rights trolling the far parameters of political correctness? With McGinn’s new emphasis on social justice as a prerequisite to right-of-way decisions, can businesses locating here expect to be asked to adopt the nomenclature of “Residents” rather than “Citizens”?

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has been granted temporary asylum in Russia and is allowed to enter the country’s territory.

The whistleblower has been granted temporary political asylum in Russia, Snowden's legal representative Anatoly Kucherena said, with his words later confirmed by Russia’sFederal Migration service.

“I have just handed over to him papers from the Russian Immigration Service. They are what he needs to leave the transit zone,” he added.

Kucherena showed a photocopy of the document to the press. According to it, Snowden is free to stay in Russia until at least July 31, 2014. His asylum status may be extended annually upon request.

With his newly-awarded legal status in Russia, Snowden cannot be handed over to the US authorities, even if Washington files an official request. He can now be transported to the United States only if he agrees to go voluntarily.

Snowden departed at around 15.30 Moscow time (11.30 GMT), airport sources said. His departure came some 30 minutes before his new refugee status was officially announced.

His present location has not been made public nor will it be disclosed, Kucherena said.

“He is the most wanted person on earth and his security will be a priority,” the attorney explained. “He will deal with personal security issues and lodging himself. I will just consult him as his lawyer.”

Snowden eventually intends to talk to the press in Russia, but needs at least one day of privacy, Kucherena said.

The whistleblower was unaccompanied when he left the airport in a regular taxi, Kucherena added.

However, WikiLeaks contradicted the lawyer, saying the organization’s activist Sarah Harrison

Russia is confident that the latest development in the Snowden case will not affect US President Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to Moscow, presidential aide Yuri Ushakovsaid.

“We are aware of the atmosphere being created in the US over Snowden, but we didn’t get any signals [indicating a possible cancellation of the visit] from American authorities,” he toldRIA Novosti.

Snowden, a former CIA employee and NSA contractor, came to international prominence after leaking several classified documents detailing massive electronic surveillance by the US government and foreign allies who collaborated with them.

Snowden was hiding out in a Hong Kong hotel when he first went public in May. Amidst mounting US pressure on both Beijing and local authorities in the former-British colony to hand the whistleblower over for prosecution, Snowden flew to Moscow on June 23.

Moscow was initially intended as a temporary stopover on his journey, as Snowden was believed to be headed to Ecuador via Cuba. However, he ended up getting stranded atSheremetyevo Airport after the US government revoked his passport. Snowden could neither leave Russia nor enter it, forcing him to remain in the airport’s transit zone.

In July, Snowden applied for temporary asylum in Russia, a status that would allow him to live and work in the country for one year. Kucherena earlier said the fugitive whistleblower is considering securing permanent residency in Russia, where he will attempt to build a life.

JCPenney is still sinking

Despite finally getting rid of its homosexual-pandering CEO Ron Johnson nearly 4 months ago, JCPenney's fortunes are still sinking.

When Johnson took over as JCP's CEO in November 2011, he decided to “improve” the family store by pandering to homosexuals — a move that, on the grounds of simple market calculation, isn’t smart. In April 2011, Williams Institute, a gay and lesbian think tank at UCLA School of Law, released a stud y that found Americans grossly overestimate the number of homosexuals in the United States. Instead of the common misconception that 25% of the US population are gay or lesbian, the truth is that it’s probably less than 2 percent.

First, Johnson made Ellen Degeneres the company’s spokeslesbian. Then JC Penney featured a lesbian couple in its Mother’s Day promotion, followed by a Father’s Day ad depicting two gay men and their children.

James Covert reports for the New York Post, July 31, 2013, that CIT — the largest commercial lender in the US apparel industry — has abruptly stopped supporting deliveries from smaller manufacturers to Penney stores.

Penney shares plunged more than 10% on The Post’s report, closing at $14.60.

Insiders speculated that CIT got skittish after getting a peek at Penney’s financials, which have been deteriorating as the department store scrambles to recover from a botched turnaround bid under former CEO Ron Johnson.

“CIT met with (Penney officials) yesterday,” according to one source close to the situation. “I assume they got a thorough briefing and didn’t like what they heard.”

A second source, however, speculated that the tightening by CIT was more of an opportunistic move to raise what it charges to finance Penney accounts.

CIT’s policy move — which only affects future orders and doesn’t impact deliveries that have already been scheduled — comes despite an aggressive financing deal this spring arranged by Goldman Sachs, which raised $1.75 billion in cash backed by Penney’s real estate.

Penney CEO Mike Ullman, who took the reins from Johnson in April, has moved to reintroduce the traditional sales events and coupons that Johnson had scrapped in favor of a disastrous flat pricing strategy. But sales this summer have been “lackluster,” according to one executive at a major Penney supplier.

Penney, which stopped reporting monthly sales last year under Johnson, is slated to report second-quarter earnings next month.

David Tawil, co-founder at Maglan Capital, said CIT's move “just shows the growing concern over performance at JCPenney since they are not giving out monthly sales data anymore. No one wants to wait until the earnings come out to make decisions for merchandise that’s shipping out for Decenber and further out.”

Tawil and other industry experts said the practical effect of CIT’s clampdown on Penney’s inventory flow could be modest, as the bulk of Penney’s stores are supplied by apparel giants such as PVH, Jones Group and VF Corp.

“The upshot could be that JCP ends up dealing without CIT,” according to a source, noting that the retailer would likely be reluctant to extend collateral to resolve the situation. “They can just start working directly with the suppliers, paying them a little faster.”

It’s now illegal to pray in Jesus’ name in this NC county

A federal judge, James A. Beaty Jr., ruled last week that city commissioners in Rowan County, North Carolina must immediately cease opening government meetings with Christian prayers because doing so violates the constitutional rights of three county residents who found those prayers oppressive.

The three Rowan County residents are Nancy Lund, Liesa Montag-Siegel and Robert Voelker.

Katherine Weber reports for Christian Post, July 25, 2013, that Judge James A. Beaty Jr. allowed a preliminary injunction against the prayers in the case Lund, et al. v. Rowan County, which was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of North Carolina Legal Foundation in March on behalf of three Rowan County residents, who argued their constitutional rights were being violated because the majority of the county commission's prayers were Christian in scope.

"Defendant Rowan County, North Carolina is hereby enjoined from knowingly and/or intentionally delivering or allowing to be delivered sectarian prayers at meetings of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners during the pendency of this suit," read the docket entry in the U.S. Middle District Court case, as reported by Fox News.

The lawsuit is representing Rowan County residents Nancy Lund, Liesa Montag-Siegel and Robert Voelker.

Montag-Siegel told the local Salisbury Post that she was delighted with the judge's Tuesday ruling because she believes it shows that all Rowan County residents should be treated "fairly": "We feel that the judge recognized that the law applies to everyone and that what we're asking for - which is for people to feel equal and for people to not feel left out when they come to meeting [...] has been listened to."

Judge Beaty Jr. also denied on Tuesday the county's request to drop the case, saying that similar cases are currently being debated in higher courts.

Rowan County Commissioner Craig Pierce said in an email response to WBTV that although the commission would not disobey the judge's ruling, he believes that the real issue has to do with First Amendment rights rather than the commision of prayer:

"Naturally we anticipated the injunction. We were told by our attorneys that it would come. This is just another example of the ACLU trying to take away the rights of the American citizen. It's not about prayer as much as a first amendment right, I don't give up my rights because I'm sitting in a chair conducting county business. I'm not casting any opinion for the rest of the commission, or other members of the board, but for me it's all about first amendment rights."

The ACLU filed a lawsuit against the Rowan County Board of Commissioners in March, claiming that the commission expressed preference to the Christian religion in that an alleged 97% of board meetings since 2007 had opened with Christian-themed prayers.

The ACLU claimed in a press release at the time that some portions of the commission's opening prayers included statements "there is only one way to salvation, and that is Jesus Christ," as well as references to the "virgin birth," the "cross at Calvary," and "the resurrection."

The main sticking point with the ACLU was that the commissioners in the meetings performed the prayers themselves, instead of having a volunteer citizen or chaplain deliver the prayer.

But in a similar case in Hamilton County, Tenn. earlier this week, a Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals judge refused to halt prayers performed at the county's commissioner meetings, arguing that they were constitutional because they could be offered voluntarily by any citizen of any religious denomination.

64-year-old James A. Beaty Jr., was nominated in 1994 by then Pres. Bill Clinton to the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. In 2006, Beaty became chief judge of that court, and is based in Winston-Salem, NC. In 2011, Beaty had blocked NC's cuts to Planned Parenthood.

NSA Project X-Keyscore Collects Nearly Everything You Do On The Internet.

Further leaks have revealed an NSA project called X-Keyscore that, with a few keystrokes, can give a data analyst access to nearly everything a user does on the Internet – from chat sessions to email to browsing habits.

The system requires an email because many behaviors online are completely anonymous and it is only via some sort of identifier – a username and domain – that the system can scour the database of collected Internet traffic and metadata.

As Snowden said to the Guardian on June 10, “I, sitting at my desk could wiretap anyone, from you or your accountant, to a federal judge or even the president, if I had a personal email.” X-Keyscore is how it is done.

The system is available to NSA analysts and can be accessed without a warrant. According to training manuals produced in 2010, the system requires analysts to request data on certain individuals. The system then scans traffic beginning and terminating the United States using keyword searches. The system can also search Facebookcomments as well as other social media data.

The data is not permanent. Because the system gathers billions of records a day the database can store it for at most a few days. The NSA claims that these searches, which can pinpoint communications between people online and over the phone and find mention of certain terms and names in blog posts, emails, and other shared content, are completely audited and are aimed at overseas targets – although American nationals are often swept in during the intelligence gathering.

“XKeyscore is used as a part of NSA’s lawful foreign signals intelligence collection system,” said the NSA to the Guardian. “Allegations of widespread, unchecked analyst access to NSA collection data are simply not true.”

FEMA camp in Texas

Every time you're mocked and slapped with the label of "conspiracy theorist" for saying there are FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) camps in Amerika, just remind them of a fascinating 4-page KBR document , Project Overview and Anticipated Project Requirements, which is a solicitation for bids from subcontractors to provide services and supplies for FEMA camps.

KBR, Inc., formerly called Kellogg Brown & Root, is a top U.S. federal contractor and the largest non-union construction company in the United States. Formerly a subsidiary ofHalliburton, KBR is headquartered in Houston. KBR and its predecessors have won many contracts with the U.S. military, including during World War II, Vietnam War and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

According to Project Overview and Anticipated Project Requirements, “services will be required in each Statewithin each of the five regions of the continental United States.” Each FEMA camp is estimated to “range in size from 301 to 2,000 persons for up to 30 days in length.”

Just such a FEMA camp has been found 35 miles east of Austin, outside the small town of Taylor, Texas.

Melissa Melton reports for Activist Post, June 26, 2013, that while getting footage for a mini-documentary, she came across this FEMA camp near Taylor, which holds several hundreds, including illegal aliens, their American family members, and children.

The camp is called the T. Don Hutto Residential Center, and is administered by the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The ~~residential center~~ FEMA camp is designated for use under emergency rule, but presently houses illegal immigrants and resident aliens caught in legal limbo with ICE. At the same time, the camp's FEMA designation also places it under FEMA command for civilian detainment in the event of an emergency, including civil unrest, economic collapse, stress from migration, natural disaster or terrorist attack, etc.

This is what the ICE "Fact Sheet" says:

The T. Don Hutto Residential Center (TDHRC) represents a unique and pioneering setting, offering the least restrictive environment permissible to manage persons in administrative U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.

In keeping with the director's call for civil detention reform, TDHRC represents a clear departure from historical detention settings. Residents experience expanded services that include free and open movement, recreational and educational participation, food services and medical and mental health care.

TDHRC's person-centered philosophy guides every interaction with the residents by understanding the often complex circumstances surrounding their detention. TDHRC continues to fulfill the mission of ICE while at the same time recognizing and valuin]g the dignity of the individual.

Opened in Taylor, Texas (35 miles east of Austin), in May 2006, TDHRC has a capacity of up to 512 beds. The average length of stay is 31 days.

Tim Brown reports for Freedom Outpost that on January 23, 2013, Congressman Alcee Hastings (D-FL, 23rd District) introduced HR 390, the National Emergency Centers Establishment Act, but there is virtually no coverage of it.

If passed, HR 390 would authorize DHS to establish no less than six "emergency centers," i.e., FEMA camps, on military installations within the borders of the United States.Democrat Congressman Alcee Hastings

A previous version of the bill was introduced in 2009 by the same Congressman Hastings as HR 645, which died in committee. Congressman Ron Paul was asked in 2011 about HR 645 and whether or not it could lead to Americans being incarcerated in detention camps during a time of martial law. He responded, “Yeah, that’s their goal, they’re setting up the stage for violence in this country, no doubt about it.”

According to GovTrack, the new bill, HR 390, has a 3% chance of getting past the committee.

‘They are under no illusions that American and NATO airpower won that war for them,” Hicks continued. “And so, in my personal opinion, a fast mover flying over Benghazi at some point, you know, as soon as possible might very well have prevented some of the bad things that happened that night.’

3 reasons why the Osama bin Laden assassination story stinks

Something really really stinks about that Navy SEALS raid (and assassination) on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abottabad, Pakistan, on May 2, 2011.

Here are three big reasons why we can't believe the story we've been told.

1. Obama regime's story about the raid keeps changing:

Was bin Laden armed or not?
Did he have a gun battle with the SEALS or not?
Was one of bin Laden’s wives killed in the raid or not?
Did Bin Laden use her as a human shield or not?
Who made the final decision to kill Bin Laden: Obama or the SEALS?
Was there a live video footage of the raid, or not? The most recent version from the White House was that there wasn't. If there was no live feed, what were Obama and his White House team watching in this much-publicized Situation Room photo? (Not to mention the fact thatgraphic artist and author Mara Zebest had analyzed the image below and determined that it's been "manipulated," including the insertion of Obama into the image, which means he was never in that situation room!)

2. The Pentagon said it had no records — not one photo, not one video, not even an e-mail — of bin Laden’s death:

A year later, in March 2012, in response to repeated (more than 20!) Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests by the Associated Press for files about the raid, which the AP had submitted the day after bin Laden’s supposed assassination, the Pentagon told the AP:

It could not locate any photographs or video taken during the raid or showing bin Laden’s body.
It could not find any images of bin Laden’s body on the Navy aircraft carrier where the al-Qaida leader’s body was taken.
It could not find any death certificate, autopsy report or results of DNA identification tests for bin Laden, or any pre-raid materials discussing how the government planned to dispose of bin Laden’s body if he were killed.
It said it had searched files at the Pentagon, U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa, Fla., and the Navy command in San Diego that controls the USS Carl Vinson, the aircraft carrier used in the mission, but could not find any emails about the bin Laden mission or his “Geronimo” code name that were sent or received in the year before the raid by William McRaven, the three-star admiral at the Joint Special Operations Command who organized and oversaw the mission.
The Pentagon said it also could not find any emails from other senior officers who would have been involved in the mission’s planning.

3. A year later, the Pentagon purged its computers of all files on the raid:

Given the Pentagon's denial in March 2012 that it had NO, NOTHING, NADA, ZERO record of the bin Laden assassination, it is curious to say the least that on July 8, 2013, the AP reports that an order was given from a "top special operations commander" (Adm. William McRaven) to purge all military files about the Navy SEAL raid from Defense Department computers, and to send those files instead to the CIA, where they could be more easily shielded from ever being made public.

The secret move, described briefly in a draft report by the Pentagon's inspector general, set off no alarms within the Obama administration even though it appears to have sidestepped federal rules and perhaps also the Freedom of Information Act.

An acknowledgement by Adm. William McRaven of his actions was quietly removed from the final version of an inspector general's report published weeks ago. A spokesman for the admiral declined to comment.

The CIA, noting that the bin Laden mission was overseen by then-CIA Director Leon Panetta before he became defense secretary, said that the SEALs were effectively assigned to work temporarily for the CIA, which has presidential authority to conduct covert operations.

"Documents related to the raid were handled in a manner consistent with the fact that the operation was conducted under the direction of the CIA director," agency spokesmanPreston Golson said in an emailed statement. "Records of a CIA operation such as the (bin Laden) raid, which were created during the conduct of the operation by persons acting under the authority of the CIA Director, are CIA records."

Golson said it is "absolutely false" that records were moved to the CIA to avoid the legal requirements of the Freedom of Information Act.

The records transfer was part of an effort by McRaven to protect the names of the personnel involved in the raid, according to the inspector general's draft report.

But secretly moving the records allowed the Pentagon to tell The Associated Press that it couldn't find any documents inside the Defense Department that AP had requested more than two years ago, and could represent a new strategy for the U.S. government to shield even its most sensitive activities from public scrutiny.

"Welcome to the shell game in place of open government," said Thomas Blanton, director of the National Security Archive, a private research institute at George Washington University. "Guess which shell the records are under. If you guess the right shell, we might show them to you. It's ridiculous."

McRaven's directive sent the only copies of the military's records about its daring raid to the CIA, which has special authority to prevent the release of "operational files" in ways that can't effectively be challenged in federal court. The Defense Department can prevent the release of its own military files, too, citing risks to national security. But that can be contested in court, and a judge can compel the Pentagon to turn over non-sensitive portions of records.

Under federal rules, transferring government records from one executive agency to another must be approved in writing by the National Archives and Records Administration. There are limited circumstances when prior approval is not required, such as when the records are moved between two components of the same executive department. The CIA and Special Operations Command are not part of the same department.

The Archives was not aware of any request from the U.S. Special Operations Command to transfer its records to the CIA, spokeswoman Miriam Kleiman said. She said it was the Archives' understanding that the military records belonged to the CIA, so transferring them wouldn't have required permission under U.S. rules.

Special Operations Command also is required to comply with rules established by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that dictate how long records must be retained. Its July 2012 manual requires that records about military operations and planning are to be considered permanent and after 25 years, following a declassification review, transferred to the Archives.

Also, the Federal Records Act would not permit agencies "to purge records just on a whim," said Dan Metcalfe, who oversaw the U.S. government's compliance with the Freedom of Information Act as former director of the Justice Department's Office of Information and Privacy. "I don't think there's an exception allowing an agency to say, `Well, we didn't destroy it. We just deleted it here after transmitting it over there.' High-level officials ought to know better."

It was not immediately clear exactly which Defense Department records were purged and transferred, when it happened or under what authority, if any, they were sent to the CIA. No government agencies the AP contacted would discuss details of the transfer. The timing may be significant: The Freedom of Information Act generally applies to records under an agency's control when a request for them is received. The AP asked for files about the mission in more than 20 separate requests, mostly submitted in May 2011 -- several were sent a day after Obama announced that the world's most wanted terrorist had been killed in a firefight.Obama has pledged to make his administration the most transparent in U.S. history.

Many politicians are psychopaths.

The personality traits that are so common to politicians — superficial charm, an exaggerated sense of self-worth, glibness, lying, lack of remorse and manipulation of others — are also common to psychopathic serial killers.

Jim Kouri, a vice president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police, came to that conclusion by using his law enforcement experience and data drawn from the FBI’s behavioral analysis unit. Both serial killers and politicians are psychologically capable of committing their dirty deeds with absolutely no remorse and free of any concern for social, moral or legal consequences.

Violent homicide aside, our elected officials often show many of the exact same character traits as psychopathic criminals. The only difference is that serial killers run from the police, whereas politicians merely run for office.

Former Democrat congressman, husband of Hillary Clinton's closest aide Huma Abedin, now NY mayoral candidateAnthony Weiner is an example.

Even after he was forced, in 2011, to resign from Congress for “sexting” pics of his private parts to young girls and lying about it, Weiner did not alter his behavior. Instead, he's been sending more lewd pictures of himself to a 22-year-old using a grandiose but unintentionally-hilarious alias, “Carlos Danger.”

Despite calls from one Democrat politico after another calling on him to quit the mayoral race, and despite Weiner now dropping to 4th place in the race, he still refuses to quit.

Bradley Manning Trial Verdict: Acquitted of Aiding The Enemy, Convicted On Lesser Charges.

FORT MEADE, Md. — A military judge Tuesday acquitted Pfc. Bradley Manning of aiding the enemy — the most serious charge the Army intelligence analyst faced for leaking hundreds of thousands of classified military reports and diplomatic cables.

Manning was convicted on nearly all of the lesser charges considered by the judge, Army Col. Denise Lind, in connection with the largest breach of classified material in U.S. history.

The suspense at the court martial session was limited because Manning previously pled guilty to 10 of the 22 counts he faced. Those charges carry a potential sentence of 20 years. The aiding-the-enemy charge can lead result in a sentence of up to life in prison or event to the death penalty, but the military did not seek capital punishment in Manning’s case.

If convicted on all charges apart from aiding the enemy, Manning faced a potential sentence of up to 154 years.

Manning did not dispute the fact that he sent WikiLeaks most of the material that led to the charges against him. However, his defense argued that some of the counts were legally flawed.

The Army intelligence analyst was arrested in May 2010 in Iraqat a forward operating base where he studied threats in a section of Baghdad. He’s been in custody since.

As soon as Wednesday, the court martial is expected to move into a sentencing phase. Prosecutors are expected to call witnesses demonstrating the harm caused by Manning’s disclosures, while the defense will seek to undercut that evidence and argue for leniency.

Lind ruled in January that Manning is entitled to a sentencing credit of nearly four months as a result of what she determined was unnecessarily harsh treatment the intelligence analysts received during his almost nine-month stay at a Marine Corps brig in Quantico, Va.

Manning’s case is one of an unprecedented flurry of leak-related criminal prosecutions brought under the Obama administration. A total of seven such cases have been brought in the past four and a half years, more than double the number of such cases in all prior administrations combined.

The administration expressed no regret about its handling of the recent wave of cases until earlier this year, when extensive attention to the Justice Department’s seizure of Associated Press phone records and a search warrant for a Fox reporter’s emails in a leak investigation led to a review of longstanding guidelines for such probes.

After an internal review, Attorney General Eric Holder changed DOJ policies to make it more difficult to access journalists’ work materials in instances where they are not the target of an investigation.

However, the case against Manning was prosecuted in the military justice system, which is separate from the civilian courts.

Author aims to shock with ‘sickest book of the summer’ about ‘insatiable’ female teacher who preys on school boys for sex

Daily Mail: A new novel about a predatory female teacher who preys on young boys has been banned in some book shops and branded 'disgusting' by those shocked by its graphic sexual content.

Tampa, by U.S. author Alissa Nutting, tells the story of the 'insatiable' eight-grade teacher Celeste Price, 26. She has a 'husband who is devoted to her' but has a 'singular sexual obsession - 14-year-old boys'.

In fact, she only chose the teaching profession so she could get close to school boys and the novel unfolds with sexual scenes of her seducing her pupils and caring 'nothing for anyone or anything but her own pleasure'.

Cosmopolitan have described the book as a 'twisted tale' and 'the sickest, most controversial book of the summer' andit has been banned in some Australian book stores.

Nutting, a new mother, has forbidden her own Catholic parents from reading it and has admitted some of the abuse she has received from outraged readers has been 'difficult'.

But she told The Times the whole point of the book is to shock and offer a 'social satire' on the way male victims of predatory teachers are treated by society in comparison to females.

She said: 'When these cases occur there is all this "nudge, nudge, wink, wink, what a lucky boy." 'It's one thing for an adult male to think, 'gee, she looks great, I'd like to have sex with her' - assuming the boy is able to consent as we are, which I think is untrue. When the victim is female we don't do any of that.'

She points out that when the victim is a male, the tendency is for people to think he wanted the attention from the teacher because he's an adolescent with raging hormones. Whereas female victims are always seen to be 'taken advantage of'.

This has been shown in the British press recently with the case of married teacher, Jeremy Forrest, who was jailed for running away with a 15-year-old pupil. There has been numerous cases of female teachers seducing school boys but these do not get the same coverage or condemnationaccording to Nutting.

She said: 'I wanted to satirise the ways that these cases are received in society. Always looking to excuse the woman rather than looks at it as a criminal case, the way we do with men.'

She said through the sexual content in her book and the extreme character of Celeste - who won't even have children because she's scared she'd want to have sex with her son when he's a teen - she wants to change people's way of thinking when the seducer of a pupil is a woman and not a man.

She explained: 'Portions of the book will shock and should shock. That's what's missing from these cases. 'We eroticise the (female) teacher, fetishise them, use them for our own arousal. I'd like to guide the reader into understanding how uncomfortable and upsetting that tendency is.'

Nutting's inspiration came from the media attention surrounding the case of Debra Lafave, a teacher in Florida who pleaded guilty in 2005 to having sex with a 14-year-old boy.

Nutting had gone to school with Lafave and was alarmed at how in the press coverage, more focus was made on the fact she was an attractive blonde (often pictured in a bikini) than on her crimes. Implying the school boy had 'got lucky' rather than been abused.

She said: 'With a boy, the reaction is so extreme as to have people say no crime was committed - 'what a wonderful learning experience, it will make him more popular'. 'If the table were turned, those comments would be so obviously appalling.'

This author makes a lot of accusations that people think women child abusers are not in any way just as responsible for their actions as male child abusers are.

I can't imagine any one wanting to read this book. Child abuse as "fiction" is not appealing to me in any shape or form.

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler's baby born without kidneys

MyNorthwest.com: U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler's first child has survived two weeks after birth despite a pregnancy problem that is usually fatal, and a doctor said Monday that the medical team is cautiously optimistic about the girl's future.

"She is every bit a miracle," says a statement posted on Herrera Beutler's Facebook page.

Abigail Rose Beutler was born prematurely on July 15,weighing just 2 pounds, 12 ounces, Herrera Beutler announced Monday. Doctors had diagnosed a serious problem during the pregnancy called Potter Syndrome, in which impaired kidney function leads to low amniotic fluid. It is typically fatal because it prevents the fetus's lungs from developing.

Abigail has no kidneys and had no amniotic fluid in the womb. During the pregnancy, doctors injected saline solution into the womb in the place of amniotic fluid. The statement reports they were able to see improvements after the treatment began.

"The initial lack of fluid in the womb caused pressure on her head and chest, but over the course of the treatment we were able to watch them reform to their proper size and shape. Her feet, which were clubbed in early ultrasounds, straightened. There was no way to know if this treatment would be effective or to track lung development, but with hearts full of hope, we put our trust in the Lord and continued to pray for a miracle."

At birth, Abigail had fully developed lungs and she is breathing on her own, suggesting that the relatively uncommon treatment had worked.

"As far as every doctor we've spoken with knows, Abigail is the first baby with bilateral renal agenesis to breathe sustainably on her own," says the Herrera Beutler's statement.

Abigail still requires ongoing dialysis and will eventually need a kidney transplant.

Herrera Beutler and her husband said they were thankful for the doctors and nurses who were not willing to accept the fatal diagnosis. "We are grateful to the thousands who joined us in praying for a miracle. But most of all, we are grateful to God for hearing those prayers," Herrera Beutler and her husband said in a joint statement.

Dr. Louis Halamek, a neonatologist at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in California, said they are cautiously optimistic about the future of the baby, born after a 28-week pregnancy.

"Despite Abigail's prematurity, small size and life-threatening disease, she is doing well," Halamek said.

Herrera Beutler, 34, is a Republican in her second term in Congress, representing the 3rd district covering the southwest portion of Washington state.

Such wonderful news! So glad prayers worked for their miracle baby!

Americans sign petitions to kill old people and newborn babies

When did Americans -- "ordinary" Americans -- become murderous genocidal Nazis, cheerfully willing to consign innocent people to death?

In the last week, two fake petitions were circulated -- one to legalize the murder of newborn babies; the other to kill ("mandatory euthanasia") old people.

One after another, Americans cheerfully signed the petitions.

1. Petition to Legalize the Murder of Newborn Babies

Last Wednesday, July 24, 2013, students at George Mason University (GMU) in Washington, D.C., signed a petition "demanding" that lawmakers legalize “fourth trimester” abortions. In other words, they want to legalize infanticide.

This is the same George Mason University where student after student knew nothing about the pervasive spying on every American conducted by the Obama regime's National Security Agency (NSA), nor about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. (See "University students oblivious to Obama's NSA spying," June 25, 2013.)

Oliver Darcy of the excellent Campus Reform reports, July 25, 2013, that the (fake) kill-babies petition was circulated on GMU’s flagship campus in Fairfax, VA., just outside Washington D.C., by Media Research Center reporter Dan Joseph.

Joseph told the students the petition was aimed at sending “a message to our lawmakers that women have the right to choose what to do with their bodies and babies” even “after their pregnancies.” To make sure that the students fully understand what they were signing, Joseph explained, “If you don’t know what fourth trimester is, it’s after the baby is already born."

Joseph also informed the students that “Currently fourth trimester abortions are illegal in all 50 states,” before asking them to sign his petition.

Most student responses varied from “okay” to “cool,” including a 15-year-old girl who happily signed the petition (see below):

One clueless student (see below) asked if the procedure would “cause harm to the child.” Joseph responded, “Well the child wouldn’t be there anymore. It’s abortion.” The female student then signed the petition.

Altogether, Joseph said he obtained 14 signatures in one hour, which "is a lot for the summer because there aren’t as many people on campus.”

2. Petition to Kill Old People

Media analyst and author Mark Dice went to San Diego, California, and asked passersby if they would sign a petition to support the "mandatory euthanasia" provision in Obamacare, so as "to help keep healthcare costs down." (Note: There is no such provision in Obamacare.)

Dice made sure that the signers know what "mandatory euthanasia" means, explaining that it means "putting senior citizens to sleep."

Married 75 years; died one day apart

I'm a fan of the UK series Downton Abbey, with its good story-telling and a total absence of CGI effects.

I'm such a fan that I own the "Original Music" DVD. Track 7 is Alfie Boe's song, "If You Were the Only Girl in the World" -- an achingly nostalgic song written by Nat D. Ayer with lyrics by Clifford Grey, first published in 1916 in the midst of the First World War. No doubt, listening to the song, many of us cringe and dismiss it as hopelessly old-fashioned and embarrassingly corny.

But I wonder how many of us, when we peel away the hardened crust, wish in our hearts that the song's sentiments are true -- that there really is that special one person in the world for us, and that to him/her, we are the only one as well.

For Les Brown, Helen was the only girl in the world.

For Helen Brown, Les was the only boy in the world.

Born on the same day, New Year's Eve, in 1918, Helen and Les met in high school and became teenage sweethearts. In 1937, the 18-year-old couple eloped because their parents thought marriage between a wealthy man and a working-class woman would never last.

The couple moved to Long Beach in 1963. Les pursued a career as a photographer while Helen sold real estate. Last September they celebrated their 75th anniversary.

On July 16, 2013, Helen Brown succumbed to stomach cancer. A day later, Les Brown died from ~~Parkinson's disease~~a broken heart.

Their youngest son Daniel told the Long Beach Press-Telegram: "My mom often said she didn't want to see my father die, and he didn't want to live without her." Their eldest son Les Jr. told the paper, "It was a real love match, wasn't it. They were together every day for 75 years."

Soldier saves teens from burning vehicle

US Army: It was a scene from a parent's worst nightmare: a car full of teens had hit a tree head on, and the car was now on fire. Thanks to Staff Sgt. Michael Peters and his wife, Debra, all the teens survived and are on the road to recovery.

Michael Peters and Debra Peters were driving home from work at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center, or CAJMTC, Ind., July 19, 2013, when they came upon a car accident moments after it occurred. A 15-year old passenger had gotten out of the vehicle, but the three other teens, ages 14, 16, and 18, were still inside.

When Peters, a trainer/mentor assigned to 2nd Battalion, 289 Field Artillery, 157th Infantry Brigade, First Army Division East, and his wife stopped, two of the teens were pinned in the front of the vehicle, which was on fire. A third teen was unconscious in the back seat.

"We didn't think about it; we just pulled over," Michael Peters recalled. "Our thought was to clear the teens out before the vehicle was entirely engulfed (in flames)."

Peters immediately took charge of the situation, calling 911 and helping his wife get two of the teens out. A local police officer arrived in time to help pull the third injured teenager from the burning car. Worried about the flames, Peters moved all the teens to safety. Moments later, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.

Michael Peters, a recent graduate of the U.S. Army Combat Lifesavers Course, used his training to quickly assess the situation.

"I just did my A-B-C's -- airway, breathing, and circulation," he said. "I could tell the driver had a broken femur. I kept him quiet by talking to him and let him know that help was on the way. I let him know that his buddies were being cared for by other people."

"Staff Sergeant Peters just completed an iteration of medical training and happened to be in the right place at the right time to lend a hand,"said Maj. Arthur Rutnarak, executive officer with the 2-289th Field Artillery Battalion, 157th Infantry Brigade, First Army Division East. "The 2-289th Field Artillery Battalion is honored to have Soldiers like Staff Sergeant Peters in their ranks, and we are proud he could support our local community in a time of need."

Humble and modest about the situation, Micheal Peters insists any other Soldier in the same situation would have reacted in the same way. "My Army training just kicked in," said Michael Peters. "It wasn't more than three minutes (after the teenagers were moved away) when the entire vehicle went up in flames. I just kept thinking, 'what if we were (driving by) minutes too early, or too late.' I'm glad my wife and I were there to help out."

A 15-year Army veteran, Michael Peters has worked as an emergency medical technician in the past. Debra Peters also remembered her basic life-saving training. She served nine years in the Army before getting out, and is now an administrative assistant for the Department of Public Works at CAJMTC.

"Once (Army training) is in you, it's in you," said Debra Peters. "I remembered to stay focused on the victims, stay calm and tried to get information from the teens to pass on to the first emergency responders."

Johnson County Sherriff Doug Cox credited the Peters duo with saving three lives. He said anyone stuck in the vehicles would have perished.

Due to a head injury, one teen was air lifted to a nearby hospital where he is still hospitalized, but is in good condition. The other three were also transported to local hospitals, two with fractures and broken bones. Two of the three have been released and are recovering at home.

"I appreciate the Peters' so much," said Angela Egner, mother of injured teen, Austin, 15. "My son wouldn't probably be here today if it weren't for them. They are two angels sent by God to save those boys. I don't think they can ever know how much I appreciate them."

"When my parents told me what happened, I was so happy they were able to help," said Michaela Peters, 15, Michael and Debra's daughter. "I am proud to call them my parents."

Michael Peters' military leaders are also proud of their actions.

"With a combined total of 25 years of U.S. Army service between Staff Sergeant Peters and Mrs. Peters, their actions validate the epitome of the U.S. Army Soldier," said Col. Brandt Deck, commander of the 157th Infantry Brigade, First Army Division East. "Relying upon their training, the Peters' reacted positively, without fear or hesitation for their own safety and saved three young teenagers. The 157th Infantry Brigade could not be more proud of Staff Sergeant Peters and Mrs. Peters."

San Francisco: Just 28 Residents for Each City Worker...Democratic Socialism good until you run out of other people's $$$

Given that one out of every 28 residents in San Francisco is on the city payroll, one can only wonder how a city like San Diego can get by with just one city worker for every 137 residents.

Using the Census Bureau's 2011 Annual Survey of Public Employment and Payroll, the Washington Examiner calculated the ratio of residents to city workers for American cities with a population of at least 200,000.

Washington, D.C., has the lowest ratio, just 25 residents for each city employee, and Bakersfield, Calif., has the highest — 246 residents per employee.

Washington "has the distinction of providing services that in many other places are often split among multiple levels of government, including state, local, and county authorities," the Examiner notes.

"Bakersfield's population has quadrupled in the last 40 years, and its public employee workforce may have lagged behind."

San Francisco is right behind Washington on the list of 107 cities. With a population of 805,235, the city has 28,660 employees, with an average annual salary of $90,702 and an annual payroll of more than $2.56 billion.($90,702 ???!!!!)

New York has the highest payroll, $18.6 billion, with 252,701 city workers — one for every 32 residents — earning an average of $74,270.

But those figures don't tell the whole story. The Census Bureau excludes all teachers and education professionals from being counted as city workers, and yet they make up the largest single group of local government employees. It also doesn't count employees of separate divisions such as the Baltimore City Housing Authority and the Chicago Park District.

Other large cities with low ratios include Baltimore, which has only 43 residents per employee, Denver (49 residents), Cleveland (50), St. Louis (50), Philadelphia (51), Atlanta (51), New Orleans (52), and Seattle (56).

Bankrupt Detroit has 61 residents per city worker, more than 19 cities on the list.

Los Angeles has 73 residents per employee, Chicago has 78, Houston has 95, and Miami, 101.

Bakersfield has 1,410 employees and a population of 347,483.

Other cities with high ratios of residents to workers include Fremont, Calif. (241 residents per employee); Irvine, Texas (233); and Las Vegas (225).

What's Going On with Our Water
A wet spring and very wet early summer have delivered more rain than the greater Everglades ecosystem -- that stretches from Orlando to Florida Bay, Fort Myers to Stuart -- can hold. So a lot of freshwater is running into the Kissimmee River and then into Lake Okeechobee, where water levels are high and endangering the Dike around the lake. The excess water, no longer able to flow south because of sugarcane and crops growing in the EAA (Everglades Agricultural Area), is shunted west to the Caloosahatchee estuary and east to the St. Lucie estuary. The impact is the same on both coasts: lethal levels of freshwater are killing and displacing marine life including oysters and seagrass that cannot move out of the way and fish and shellfish nursery is lost, washed out into the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean.

This excess freshwater is running off the land so fast it carries tannins from plants and other organic material with it, causing the unusually dark water. Flood control projects that began in the 1940s were designed to drain water off the land to accommodate growth and development in south Florida. So the high rainfall this year has saturated the land with water, raised water levels in Lake Okeechobee and necessitated water releases to lower the lake.

The excess water is coming from both the Caloosahatchee watershed in Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties as well as from Lake O releases. The solutions are twofold: to increase storage throughout the system and redirect water to more historic flow patterns.

Treasury Designates the Treviño-Morales Family Members and Accomplices

Action Targets Wife and Father-in-Law for Money Laundering Activities

The U.S. Department of the Treasury today designated Jesus Fernandez de Luna and his cattle sales company Compania Ganadera 5 Manantiales. Mexican national Jesus Fernandez de Luna engages in drug trafficking activities for the violent drug cartel Los Zetas, the recently-arrested Miguel Trevino Morales, and his brother Omar Trevino Morales.

Los Zetas leaders Miguel and Omar Trevino Morales have used proceeds from their involvement in the narcotics trade to purchase American quarter horses, and launder the money through Jesus Fernandez de Luna and his cattle business. Mexican authorities arrested Miguel Trevino Morales on July 15, 2013.

“Omar Trevino Morales' wife and father-in-law have been involved in money laundering activities on behalf of the notoriously violent Los Zetas. As we work to support our Mexican partners, we will continue to target anyone involved in these activities, including family members of cartel bosses who provide essential support to these violent narcotics organizations,” said Treasury’s Director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Adam J. Szubin.

Today’s action, taken pursuant to the Kingpin Act, generally prohibits U.S. persons from engaging in any transactions with these designees and freezes any assets they may have under U.S. jurisdiction.

Omar Trevino Morales established Compania Ganadera 5 Manantiales as a money laundering front for his wife, Carolina Fernandez Gonzalez, and her father, Jesus Fernandez de Luna. Shareholders include Jesus Fernandez de Luna and his wife, Esperanza Maria Gonzalez Muniz, and its principal officers, shareholders, and original incorporators include Jesus Fernandez de Luna, his brother, Gerardo Fernandez de Luna, and his brother-in-law, Emilio Guillermo Gonzalez Muniz.

Jesus Fernandez de Luna is wanted in the Western District of Texas (Austin Division) for conspiring to conceal or disguise drug proceeds for Miguel and Omar Trevino Morales. In September 2012, Jesus Fernandez de Luna purchased four valuable racehorses for Miguel and Omar Trevino Morales through Compania Ganadera 5 Manantiales.

The U.S. Government seized and sold these horses at auction. Additionally, in 2001, the Western District of Texas (Del Rio Division) indicted Jesus Fernandez de Luna, and his brother Gerardo Fernandez de Luna, along with Joaquin “Chapo” Guzman Loera, on narcotics trafficking charges.

The President identified Los Zetas as a significant foreign narcotics trafficker pursuant to the Kingpin Act in April 2009, and on July 24, 2011, he named Los Zetas as a significant Transnational Criminal Organization in the Annex to Executive Order 13581 (Blocking Property of Transnational Criminal Organizations). OFAC designated Los Zetas leaders Miguel and Omar Trevino Morales on July 20, 2009 and March 24, 2010, respectively

Today’s action is OFAC’s third designation targeting Los Zetas in the last three months. In July 2013, OFAC designated two key financial operators for Los Zetas, and in May 2013, OFAC designated a major narcotics trafficker responsible for smuggling multiple tons of marijuana and

cocaine, monthly, from Mexico to the U.S. for Miguel Trevino Morales and Omar Trevino Morales.

Additionally, last year OFAC designated Los Zetas front man Francisco Colorado Cessa and his company ADT Petroservicios for laundering millions of dollars of drug proceeds through the American quarter-horse racing and breeding industry for Miguel and Omar Trevino Morales. The U.S. Government has seized and auctioned hundreds of horses worth millions of dollars as part of an investigation of Los Zetas money laundering operations. In May 2013, Francisco Colorado Cessa was convicted of charges related to money laundering in U.S. District Court Western District of Texas (Austin Division).

Today’s action would not be possible without the support and cooperation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Government of Mexico.

Internationally, OFAC has designated more than 1,300 individuals and entities linked to 103 drug kingpins since June 2000. OFAC designations are part of an ongoing effort to apply financial measures against significant foreign narcotics traffickers and their organizations worldwide. Penalties for violations of the Kingpin Act range from civil penalties of up to $1.075 million per violation to more severe criminal penalties.

Criminal penalties for corporate officers may include up to 30 years in prison and fines up to $5 million. Criminal fines for corporations may reach $10 million. Other individuals face up to 10 years in prison and fines pursuant to Title 18 of the United States Code for criminal violations of the Kingpin Act.
