7 Reasons Nothing Should Stand in the Way of the Keystone XL Pipeline...

7 Reasons Nothing Should Stand in the Way of the Keystone XL Pipeline

The Washington Post slammed the Obama administration’s continued delay of a Keystone XL decision, calling it “absurd” and “embarrassing.” And for good reason—in fact, many good reasons. Below are seven of the most compelling.

  1. Jobs and economic growth. Opponents will minimize the job numbers, saying that the pipeline will create only “a handful” of permanent jobs—and that’s correct. But that argument also dismisses the tens of thousands of construction jobs that the pipeline project will create. In fact, simply building the southern portion—which didn’t need President Obama’s approval—has already created 4,000 construction jobs. Keystone XL also will add economic value, and will result in billions of dollars of tax revenue for states it runs through.
  2. Can be built without the help of the taxpayer. Building and operating Keystone XL will result in real private-sector jobs that will grow the U.S. economy. This is much different from the president’s taxpayer-funded green jobs plan that merely siphons resources out of the market and forces pricier energy on the American public.
  3. Safest mode of getting oil and gas to Americans. Many in the United States live near a pipeline without even knowing about it. America has more than 500,000 milesof crude oil, petroleum and natural gas pipelines and another 2 million miles of natural gas distribution pipelines. When it comes to accidents, injuries or fatalities, pipelines are the safest mode of transporting oil and gas.
  4. Environmentally safe. It was Albert Einstein who said the definition of insanity was “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” The State Department must be teetering on the edge of insanity, because after multipleenvironmental reviews concluding that Keystone XL poses minimal environmental risk to soil, wetlands, water resources, vegetation, fish, and wildlife, we’re still without a pipeline.
  5. Negligible climate impact. In a speech last June, Obama said the climate effects of Keystone XL would have an impact on the administration’s ultimate decision. These effects, however, would be minimal. The State Department’s final environmental impact statement concludes that the Canadian oil is coming out of the ground whether Keystone XL is built or not, so the difference in greenhouse gas emissions is miniscule.
  6. Stable supply of oil from an important trading partner. The pipeline would carry up to 830,000 barrels of oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast, where U.S. refineries are already equipped to handle heavier crudes. The pipeline will efficiently provide supply from a secure source and a friendly and important trading partner.
  7. The people want it. Lots of people want it. A new Rasmussen poll shows that 61 percent of the American public favor building the pipeline. Many unions want it. When Hillary Clinton was secretary of state and was asked about the pipeline approval, she answered, “We are inclined to do so.” Former Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar called the project a “win-win.” These comments put Salazar in the company of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.

It was former Secretary of Energy Stephen Chu who said it most accurately: “The decision on whether the construction should happen was a political one and not a scientific one.”  It’s time to stop politicizing and start building.

The pipeline is an easy choice, unless you are a bloated, convoluted, backwards, Socialist government, bend on oppressing the populace . . . oh wait, that's why I don't live in the US right now, because it's nearly the same as every other country in the world, except for it's diminishing veneer of freedom, which the rest of the world still sucks up, and which is constantly "saving" America from the precipice of impending collapse.
These are 7 important reason to build the pipeline, but it isn't the primary reason Obama and his Democrat co-conspirators are refusing to approve its construction. That reason is the Koch brothers...!!! The Koch Brothers Are the Largest Land Owners of Canada's Tar Sands!!! The Koch Brothers are one of the largest donors to conservative causes in the U.S.A. Democrats are trying to blacklist them for being "conservative Americans"... See http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/312-...

What can I say anymore that I haven't said before, President Obama doesn't want "Jobs and Economic Growth" this Far-left President is working to ruin our Country by trying to implement his agenda of a Socialist Government. I hope that the 53% of Americans who voted him into Office wake - up and realize what is happening to their / our Great wonderful Country.

Sorry George, but the 53 percent that voted for Obama can't, as you say, wake up. That would imply that they have or had, at some point, the innate ability to understand complex issues and make rational decisions concerning what is best for the country. If that were the case, they would have never voted for Obama in the first place. I fully expect the same people will vote for Hillary in 2016 with equally disastrous results.

The Koch brothers exist for one reason -- to line their pockets with our money. The pipeline is being pushed for one reason -- to get our money. But, hey, if you don't care if you leave our children a habitable planet, if you like being driven into oblivion by big business, if you have never heard of renewable energy, then I can see why you'd be for this project and these half-truths would appeal to you.

I have read that the purpose of the Keystone XL pipeline is to ship raw Canadian crude oil to the Texas refineries that are capeable of removing all the sand and crud before shipping the cleaned oil to CHINA for their consumption. The contracts written between Canada, China and the US companies prohibit the US from obtaining any of this oil for US consumption. The US will also be obligated to dispose of the crud removed from the oil and where will that crud go? That is a US problem as well as cleaning out what settles in the pipeline as it is being pumped south.
Item 3 of the above article implies that pipelines are the "Safest mode of getting oil and gas to Americans" which may be true but THE OIL IN THIS PIPELINE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE GOING TO AMERICANS.
Please explain this to the Americans who are in favor of this pipeline exploitation.

It doesn't matter if there are 7 or 700 good, sensible and economically justifiable reasons to build the XL pipeline. The only thing that is important to Obama and most Democrats is the $100 million dollars Tom Steyer has pledged to spend on supporting Democrats in the 2014 elections. That's the real bottom line in why the pipeline won't get approved anytime soon.

Chicago Gun Violence: Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Deflect Attention from Gangs to Guns

One Citizen Speaking...

Chicago Gun Violence: Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Deflect Attention from Gangs to Guns

Posted: 23 Apr 2014 09:09 PM PDT

Two corrupt, progressive liberal democrats who continue to lie to the public about the rampant crime rate in Chicago under their watch, preferring to blame anyone but the actual perpetrators of these heinous crimes …

two

It’s not the gangs and gangstas, it must be the guns!

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy would have you believe that the city that has one of the strictest gun laws in the nation, needs additional gun control to prevent continuing violence in the inner cities and elsewhere. Of course, these two progressive socialist democrats refuse to condemn the gangs or gangsta culture for fear of offending the minorities that form the basis of the democrat coalition of victimhood.

It was another week in slaughter alley, Chicago neighborhoods under assault by domestic terrorist gangs and the usual assortment of criminals and crazies…

9 PEOPLE KILLED, 36 WOUNDED ON WEEKEND

  • Two of the deaths can be attributed to one of those fine, highly-trained, unionized correctional officers who shot his Chicago Police Officer wife and then killed himself. Both parties are the type of people who the progressive socialist democrats believe should be armed.
  • Five young children, were shot from a car after being asked their gang affiliation.
  • Two people were killed in another shooting from a vehicle, believed by police to possibly belong to a relative.
  • Two men were killed by perpetrators shouting gang slogans.

Yada, Yada, Yada!  <Source>

Yes, it must be those evil guns and we must disarm law-abiding citizens leaving an even greater pool of potential victims for the gang members, criminals, and crazies. At least it is more politically correct than suggesting a crackdown on gangs and making high-profile (and dangerous) sweeps through minority neighborhoods and housing projects. Yes, stand up before the world and blame those evil guns.

And, then there is the matter of the Rahm's Chicago Police Superintendent caught lying about crime statistics …

This year, the Inspector General’s office finalized an audit of assault related crimes in the city during 2012. The audit found that “…the department under-counted aggravated assaults and batteries by more than 24 percent, based on the sample cases reviewed.” Chicago Magazine discovered examples of 10 murders, people “…who were beaten, burned, suffocated, or shot to death in 2013 and whose cases were reclassified as death investigations, downgraded to more minor crimes, or even closed as noncriminal incidents…”

In short, Police Superintendent McCarthy and department higher-ups accomplished their remarkable, 3 year reduction in crime by–to put it charitably–”…changing how certain crimes are categorized.” For example, homicides as initially reported by case officers would be quietly downgraded to non-criminal events.  Chicago Magazine reported that “…many officers of different ranks and from different parts of the city recounted instances in which they were asked or pressured by their superiors to reclassify their incident reports or in which their reports were changed by some invisible hand. One detective refers to the “magic ink:” the power to make a case disappear.” <Source: Rahm Emmanuel's Police Superintendent Caught Faking Low Homicide Rate >

Bottom line …

The progressive socialist democrats, the lying liars who lie, continue to point at guns rather than accept the hard truth that they are failing their constituents while allowing the politically-connected special interests to steal the people blind. Taking money that would improve education, housing, employment, and reduce crime and shoveling it into the unions in return for campaign funds and voter support.

Wake up people! The progressive socialist democrats are a clear and present danger to America and Americans. Barack Obama wants to release people convicted of drug offenses – forgetting most of these perpetrators plead down their charges and that non-violent status may only refer to the last crime committed.

You can’t trust these people in the House, Senate, Presidency, State Office, Municipal Office or anywhere else. Throw these corrupt socialist/communist bastards out before they actually achieve their goal of destroying America from within.
