"The definition of freedom is the unimpeded pursuit of happiness and prosperity...something that veterans fight for and fight to defend" -Concerned Veterans for America

Dear Supporter,

This past weekend Congress passed a six-month Continuing Resolution (CR) that will fund the government through March 2013; the short-term deal includes funding for the Department of Defense. A CR was needed because Congress failed to pass a traditional yearlong bill (otherwise known as a 'budget', a rare specimen in Washington) to fund the government.  Once again, the can was kicked down the road...with untold (but not unforeseen) consequences for future generations.

The challenges facing our country and our economy-including the need to reform defense spending-are massive, and are a shared responsibility. Both parties need to step up to the plate, and veterans are tired of broken promises. We are looking to Washington to someday-finally!-practice fiscal responsibility before it is truly too late.  And as leaders who have worn the uniform, we crave principled leadership that places our economy on the road to recovery without undercutting our national defense. Unfortunately, all we have seen from Washington thus far is empty rhetoric and is business as usual (which is to say, no business).

Concerned Veterans for America remains committed to the freedoms and prosperity we fought for, and thank you for joining us in this cause. There is much more to be done, and together we'll fight to keep our country great.
