Cheney in Playboy Interview: Damage Done By Obama Is a 'Real Tragedy'
Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (Ret.) appeared on "America's Newsroom" today to weigh in on comments Dick Cheney made in a recent interview with Playboy about the damage the Obama administration has done.
"[T]here's been a basic fundamental belief since the end of World War II that United States leadership in the world produces a far more peaceful, less hostile world and greater prosperity," Cheney said. "It's going to take a lot to rebuild the damage that has been done over the past few years, because we've actively conveyed to the world the notion - this president has - that we no longer believe that."
Peters agreed with Cheney's comments and asserted that the next president could make a "marvelous difference," if they are the right individual.
"There's no question President Obama has done tremendous damage," Peters stated, explaining that Obama's worldview is farther to the left that he even realizes.
Peters said another problem is that the president "like a good, little leftist" hasn't studied history.
"If you do not know history, you are prey to the left-wing dogma that America is bad," Peters said. "I think that is really Obama's worldview, that America has done more harm than good."
"His greatest failing is that he's been unwilling and unable to learn in six years ... but obsesses on his original intent."
Peters said that the image of the U.S. has plummeted around the world and we are no longer regarded as a dependable, courageous ally.
"We have to be trusted by our allies and we have to be feared by our enemies. And if we are not feared by our enemies, you get the world that Obama has created."
