Should Christians Be Afraid?
There is a growing sense that America is facing a watershed moment not seen since the famed Lincoln-Douglas debates in 1860.  The Lincoln-Douglas debates presented a deeply-divided America with starkly contrasting choices concerning the future direction of the country.
Choices so stark that no matter how it was decided, at least half the country would viscerally disagree.
Of course, in the Lincoln-Douglas debate, the topic under discussion was slavery and whether or not it should be allowed to expand beyond its existing Southern boundaries.
The debates dragged the issue to the forefront of public attention.  Once there, it lingered as more and more people were forced to decide between self-interest and the best interests of the nation.
As Lincoln observed during one of the debates:
"Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed. Consequently he who molds public sentiment, goes deeper than he who enacts statutes or pronounces decisions. He makes statutes and decisions possible or impossible to be executed."
Presidential debates are designed to sway public sentiment by allowing each candidate to present his own vision for where he would take the nation over the next four years.
For most Americans, they are boring, stuffy affairs that most voters blow off, preferring the "highlight" reel as summarized by the cable news talking heads.  But this year, something is different.
The choices are as stark as they were in 1860 and the issue at hand is once again slavery, only this time, the economic kind.
According to Mitt Romney, somewhere around 47% of the country is already partially enslaved by the entitlement trap set for them by Barack Hussein Obama and his Marxist-socialist agenda.
Romney noted in his now-infamous comment that 47% of the country won't vote for him anyway.
That's because Romney's vision has nothing to offer them.  They aren't swayed by promises of tax cuts since they pay no federal taxes and they are repulsed by spending cuts, since they are the recipients of the spending.
They see Romney's proposed spending cuts as direct cuts to their personal income and Obama's re-election as a potential income boost.
As almost every person that ripped into Romney's comments as "heartless" pointed out, many of those people feel that they have no choice due to their economic circumstances -- they haveto vote for Obama.
They are enslaved by the system. If they attempt to move forward personally, they jeopardize their existing benefits.  The welfare-to-work program was designed to eliminate this barrier, which is why Obama was willing to defy the law in order to water it down.
They can't vote for national austerity despite the warnings that the country is headed towards an economic abyss because they know that they will be the first ones to go over.  They are trapped.
They can't go backward because their backs are against the wall.  They can't go forward without risking what they already have, and so they remain where they are, doing what is necessary to keep themselves above water, always paddling but going nowhere.
Like slaves to the machine that enslaves them, they have no choice but to self-perpetuate the misery in order to keep it from getting worse.
They are as enslaved as the smoker who longs to quit but is unwilling or unable to endure the withdrawal.   So he lights up another one, knowing what it is doing to him and trying not to think about it.
It is important to understand that this is by deliberate design
The presidential debates this year will be about whether or not to expand economic slavery beyond its current boundaries.
And no matter how it is decided, at least half the country will viscerally disagree.
Assessment:
A member emailed me yesterday to tell me just how scared he was about this election.  He writes;
"I find myself in great turmoil because I know that God places those in power and removes them according to his will. I am very much afraid that Obama will remain in power in order to further God's judgment on America. I know God is in control but the destruction of our country just tears at my heart seeing so many of our citizens actually supporting our destruction by supporting this administration.  I guess I just don't know how to deal with the possibility that God will put Obama back in office to finish the destruction. It breaks my heart."
The email exactly captured the conundrum many of us find ourselves in.  Knowing that God is in control doesn't really seem to make it any easier.
(I say "seem" because it really does.  Make it easier, I mean.  Just imagine how scary all this would look if you didn't know God was in control.)
For most of my adult life, I've been studying, reading, writing and teaching Bible prophecy as it pertains to the last days and so from my perspective, none of this is unexpected.
The Bible makes no mention of America during the Tribulation Period, and so it should come as no huge surprise that America seems to be standing on the precipice at this point in history.
Given how far we've fallen over the past few decades, it should come as no huge surprise that America would be facing Divine judgment, for as Scripture reveals:
"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." (Luke 12:48)
Many prophecy teachers have noted a correlation between US policy and natural catastrophes befalling the country, beginning with the Oslo Agreement and Hurricane Andrew and on to the present.  So, as I said, none of this is unexpected.
And there is a direct relationship between fear and faith.  It could be argued that fear is the opposite of faith.  If one has enough faith, what is there to fear?
And yet I find myself looking around at all that is taking place and it doesn't just cause me great turmoil, it scares the pants off me!
Great!  On top of everything else I'm scared of being afraid!   I'm not just scared of what is happening all around me, I'm scared I don't have enough faith to face what is to come.
Terrific! If only I had enough faith, then I could cheerfully face whatever this old world could throw at me!
But no, I'm scared.  What a loser!
I'm worried about my finances.  I am worried about my personal security.  I worry about my kids.  I'm worried about what will happen if Obama gets another four years to finish what he's started.
Still, I KNOW that if that is God's will, that is what will happen.  And because it is God's will, all will be well.
And I have faith.  I know that He is in control.  I see it every day.  Every time I read a newspaper, I see confirmation that God remains on His Throne.
I am an eyewitness to the fulfillment of the Promise -- I am part of that generation that shall not pass until ALL these things, up to and including the Second Coming of Christ, will be fulfilled.
But I'm still scared.  What does that mean?  How can I counsel others and tell them not to fear when I know in my heart that I share my correspondent's apprehensions.  I don't really know how to deal with it all.
What if Obama gets re-elected?  I cannot imagine how America could survive another term.  Does that mean we're closer to the Rapture?
What if Romney gets elected?  Does that mean that America's been given a temporary reprieve?  Does it mean the Rapture is pushed back?
How should I pray?  Do I pray my own self-interest?
"Dear God, please protect me and my family from the coming of the Evil One."  Is that selfish?
Do I pray that God will hold back the time?  Is that faithless?
Like I said, it isn't like I didn't know that all this was going to happen.  I've been preaching about the unfolding of the last days for years and years.
And now that the time is now here,  I find myself faltering -- in great turmoil, as my correspondent put it -- my own heart failing me for fear and for looking after the things that are coming upon the earth as the powers of heaven are shaken.
If I feel that way, then I can only imagine how terrifying it must look to those without Christ, or to those with no understanding of Bible prophecy.
How does one reconcile one's faith that all that is coming is according to God's will with the fear of all that is coming?
"Then saith He unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with Me. And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt." (Matthew 26:38-39)
Jesus knew what was to come.  He knew that all was according to the will of the Father.  He had faith, but even so, He prayed so hard that Luke 22:44 says His sweat was mingled with blood.
Jesus Christ is the Lord of the Universe.  He knew all things, including why He was there in the Garden, where He would be in a matter of hours and what He would have to endure.
Jesus Christ had no lack of faith.  But He prayed that if it were possible, the cup would pass from His lips, knowing that His prayer was futile.
At the risk of being accused of blasphemy, I submit to you that Jesus was scared of what was to come.
So it is ok if I am.  And it is ok if you get scared, sometimes, too.  So don't be afraid that being afraid means you have no faith.  That is what Scripture means when it says,
"Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh."
Don't fear being afraid.  Your faith is still intact.
"For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken." (Proverbs 3:25-26)
You are going to need it in the days ahead.

Amazing WWII Aircraft Facts

No matter how one looks at it, these are incredible statistics.  Aside from the figures on aircraft, consider this statement from the article:  On average 6600 American service men died per MONTH, during WWII (about 220 a day).  Most Americans who were not adults during WWII have no understanding of the magnitude of it.  This listing of some of the aircraft facts gives a bit of insight to it.

276,000 aircraft manufactured in the US .

43,000 planes lost overseas, including 23,000 in combat.

14,000 lost in the continental U.S.

The US civilian population maintained a dedicated effort for four years, many working long hours seven days per week and often also volunteering for other work.  WWII was the largest human effort in history.

Statistics from Flight Journal magazine.

THE COST of DOING  BUSINESS---- The staggering cost of war.

THE PRICE OF VICTORY (cost of an aircraft in WWII dollars)

B-17       $204,370.     P-40       $44,892.
B-24       $215,516.     P-47       $85,578.
B-25       $142,194.     P-51       $51,572.
B-26       $192,426.     C-47       $88,574.
B-29       $605,360.     PT-17     $15,052.
P-38         $97,147.     AT-6       $22,952.

PLANES-A-DAY  WORLDWIDE

From Germany's invasion of Poland Sept. 1, 1939 and ending with Japan's surrender on Sept. 2, 1945 --- 2,433 days.
From 1942 onward, America averaged 170 planes lost a day.

How many is a 1,000 planes?  B-17 production (12,731) wingtip to wingtip would extend 250 miles.  1,000 B-17s carried 2.5 million gallons of high octane fuel and required 10,000 airmen to fly and fight in them.

THE NUMBERS GAME

9.7 billion gallons of gasoline consumed, 1942-1945.
107.8 million hours flown, 1943-1945.
459.7 billion rounds of aircraft ammo fired overseas, 1942-1945.
7.9 million bombs dropped  overseas, 1943-1945.
2.3 million combat sorties, 1941-1945 (one sortie = one takeoff).
299,230 aircraft accepted, 1940-1945.
808,471 aircraft engines accepted, 1940-1945.
799,972 propellers accepted, 1940-1945.

According to the AAF Statistical Digest, in less than four years
(December 1941- August 1945), the US Army
Air Forces lost 14,903 pilots, aircrew and assorted personnel
plus 13,873 airplanes --- inside the continental  United States.
They were the result of 52,651 aircraft accidents (6,039 involving fatalities)
in 45 months.

Think about those numbers. They average 1,170 aircraft accidents per month--
nearly 40 a day.  (Less than one accident in four resulted in totaled aircraft, however.)

It gets worse.....
Almost 1,000 Army planes disappeared en route from the US to foreign climes.
But an eye-watering 43,581 aircraft were lost overseas including 22,948 on combat missions (18,418 against the Western Axis) and 20,633
attributed to non-combat causes overseas.

In a single 376-plane raid in August 1943, 60 B-17s were shot down.
That was a 16 percent loss rate and meant 600 empty bunks in England .
In 1942-43, it was statistically impossible for bomber crews
to complete a 25-mission tour in Europe .

Pacific theatre losses were far less (4,530 in combat) owing to smaller forces committed.  The worst B-29 mission against Tokyo on May 25, 1945, cost 26 Superfortresses, 5.6 percent of the 464 dispatched from the Marianas .

On  average, 6,600 American servicemen died per month during WWII, about 220 a day. By the end of the war, over 40,000 airmen were killed in combat theatres
and another 18,000 wounded.  Some 12,000 missing men were declared dead,
including a number "liberated" by the Soviets but never returned.

More than 41,000 were captured; half of the 5,400 held
by the Japanese died in captivity, compared with one-tenth in German hands.
Total combat casualties were pegged at 121,867.

US manpower made up the deficit.  The AAF's peak strength was reached
in 1944 with 2,372,000 personnel, nearly twice the previous year's figure.

The losses were huge---but so were production totals.
From 1941 through 1945, American industry delivered more than 276,000 military aircraft. That number was enough not only for US Army, Navy and Marine Corps, but for allies as diverse as Britain , Australia , China and Russia .
In fact, from 1943 onward, America produced more planes than Britain and Russia combined.  And more than Germany and Japan put together--1941-45.

However, our enemies took massive losses.
Through much of 1944, the Luftwaffe sustained uncontrolled hemorrhaging,
reaching 25 percent of aircrews and 40 planes a month.

And in late 1944 into 1945, nearly half the pilots in Japanese squadrons had flown
fewer than 200 hours.  The disparity of two years before had
been completely reversed.

Experience Level:

Uncle Sam sent many of his sons to war with absolute minimums of training.
Some fighter pilots entered combat in 1942 with less than 1 hour
in their assigned aircraft.

The 357th Fighter Group (often known as The Yoxford Boys) went to England
in late 1943 having trained on P-39s.
The group never saw a Mustang until shortly before its first combat mission.
A high-time P-51 pilot had 30 hours in type.
Many had fewer than five hours.  Some had one hour.

With arrival of new aircraft, many combat units transitioned in combat.  The attitude was, "They all have a stick and a throttle.  Go fly `em." When the famed 4th Fighter Group converted from P-47s to P-51s in     February 1944, there was no time to stand down for an orderly transition.   The Group commander, Col. Donald
 Blakeslee, said,
"You can learn to fly `51s on the way to the target.

A future P-47 ace said, "I was sent to England to die."
He was not alone.   Some fighter pilots tucked their wheels in the well on their first combat mission after one previous flight in the aircraft.

Meanwhile, many bomber crews were still learning their trade.
Of Jimmy Doolittle's 15 pilots on the April 1942 Tokyo raid, only five had won their wings before 1941.   All but one of the 16 copilots were less than a year out of flight school.

In WWII flying safety took a back seat to combat.  The AAF's worst accident rate was recorded by the A-36 Invader version of the P-51: a staggering 274 accidents per 100,000 flying hours.   Next worst were the P-39 at 245, the P-40 at 188, and the P-38 at 139.  All were Allison powered.

Bomber wrecks were fewer but more expensive.  The B-17 and B-24 averaged 30 and 35 accidents per 100,000 flight hours, respectively-- a horrific figure considering that
from 1980 to 2000 the Air Force's major mishap rate was less than 2.

The B-29 was even worse at 40; the world's most sophisticated, most capable and most expensive bomber was too urgently needed to stand down for mere safety reasons. The AAF set a reasonably high standard for B-29 pilots, but the desired figures were seldom attained.

The original cadre of the 58th Bomb Wing was to have 400 hours
of multi-engine time, but there were not enough experienced pilots
to meet the criterion.  Only ten percent had overseas experience.
Conversely, when a $2.1 billion B-2 crashed in 2008, the Air Force initiated a two-month "safety pause" rather than declare a "stand down", let alone grounding.

The B-29 was no better for maintenance. Though the R3350 was known as a complicated, troublesome power-plant, no more than half the mechanics had previous experience with the Duplex Cyclone.   But they made it work.

Navigators:
Perhaps the greatest unsung success story of AAF training was Navigators.  The Army graduated some 50,000 during the War.  And many had never flown out of sight of land before leaving "Uncle Sugar" for a war zone.  Yet the huge majority found their way across oceans and continents without getting lost or running out of fuel-- a stirring tribute to the AAF's educational establishments.

Cadet To Colonel:

It was possible for a flying cadet at the time of Pearl Harbor to finish the war
with eagles on his shoulders.  That was the record of John D. Landers, a 21-year-old Texan, who was commissioned a second lieutenant on December 12, 1941.  He joined his combat squadron with 209 hours total flight time, including 2½ in P-40s.  He finished the war as a full colonel, commanding an 8th Air Force Group --- at age 24.

As the training pipeline filled up, however, those low figures became exceptions.
By early 1944, the average AAF fighter pilot entering combat had logged
at least 450 hours, usually including 250 hours in training.  At the same time, many captains and first lieutenants claimed over 600 hours.

FACT:

At its height in mid-1944, the Army Air Forces had 2.6 million people
and nearly 80,000 aircraft of all types.

Today the US Air Force employs 327,000 active personnel (plus 170,000 civilians)
with 5,500+ manned and perhaps 200 unmanned aircraft.
The 2009 figures represent about 12 percent of the manpower and 7 percent of the airplanes of the WWII peak.

IN SUMMATION:

Whether there will ever be another war like that experienced in 1940-45 is doubtful,
as fighters and bombers have given way to helicopters and remotely-controlled drones over Afghanistan and Iraq .  But within living memory, men left the earth in 1,000-plane formations & fought major battles 5 miles high, leaving a legacy that remains timeless.

MARINES
• On Nov. 2, 2012, Mack’s Marines will gather at Crawford Hall, Marine Barracks, 8th and Eye streets, NE to celebrate the 237th Birthday of the U. S. Marine Corps. This is the 37th straight year Mack’s Marines has celebrated the Marine Corps Birthday.
The organization dates back to November 10, 1975, when five Marines, led by Sgt Maj Mack McKinney met on Capitol Hill to celebrate the Bi-Centennial of the Marine Corps. They had no specific name, but met each year for the Birthday celebration, at one point having up to 240 participants. Downsizing to about 30 attendees, Sgt Maj McKinney named the group The Gang of 30. Upon his death in 2006, the Gang changed its name to Mack’s Marines to honor his legacy and tenacity.
Almost 130 guests are expected to reconnect with comrades in arms and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Marines, telling tall sea stories and toasting the Corps. Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with the luncheon beginning at noon. The traditional cake-cutting ceremony will also take place as the guest of honor cuts the birthday cake, and then presents the first piece of cake to the oldest Marine present and the next piece to the youngest Marine present. A good time will be had by all.
For more information, call Aretha Wright at202/302-6708.
As usual, this event will begin with the following invocation:
“O Lord, we have long known that prayer should include confession. Therefore, on behalf of the Marines and their guests here gathered, I confess their sins: Lord, they’re just not in step with today’s society.
“They are unreasonable in clinging to old-fashioned ideas like patriotism, duty, honor and country. They hold radical ideas like believing that they are their brother’s keeper and responsible for the Marine on their flank. They have been seen standing when colors pass, singing the national anthem at ballgames and drinking toasts to fallen comrades.
“Not only that, they have been observed standing tall, taking charge and wearing their hair unfashionably short. They have taken John Kennedy’s words too seriously and are overly concerned with what they can do for their country, instead of what this country can do for them.
“They take the Pledge of Allegiance to heart and believe that the oath is to be honored. Forgive them, Lord, for being stubborn men and women who hold fast to such old-fashioned values. After all, what can you expect? They’re Marines.
“O Lord our God, bless our misguided ideals, continue to raise up in this nation strong leaders and deliver us from ‘me-first’ managers and ‘don’t ask me’ followers.
“Be our honored guest this day. Let it be a day of laughter, good food, good drink, and the telling of tall tales and legends that far exceed the truth.
“Watch over and keep safe those who wear this nation’s uniform with special attention to their families everywhere.
“Now through this day and all the days ahead, God bless this great Nation and God bless the Corps.”

Muslim women
An Interesting Read
I am also hoping those of you who think muslims are all the same or not bad will read slowly and for God's sake pass it on. America is still in denial and asleep.

20 years from now, I will be in Heaven --bye !!This was written by a woman born in Egypt as a Muslim. Make sure you read the paragraph (in red)towards the end.
Joys of Muslim Women
By Nonie Darwish

In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child. Consummating the marriage by 9.

The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) and for the purchase of the private parts of the woman, to use her as a toy.

Even though a woman is abused she can not obtain a divorce.

To prove rape, the woman must have (4) male witnesses.

Often after a woman has been raped, she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry. The family has the right to execute her (an honor killing) to restore the honor of the family. Husbands can beat their wives 'at will' and he does not have to say why he has beaten her.

The husband is permitted to have (4 wives) and a temporary wife for an hour (prostitute) at his discretion.

The Shariah Muslim law controls the private as well as the public life of the woman.
In the West World ( America and Britain ) Muslim men are starting to demand Shariah Law so the wife can not obtain a divorce and he can have full and complete control of her. It is amazing and alarming how many of our sisters and daughters attending American Universities and British Universities are now marrying Muslim men and submitting themselves and their children unsuspectingly to the Shariah law.

By passing this on, enlightened American and British women may avoid becoming a slave under Shariah Law.

Ripping the West in Two.

Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world, ripping Western law and liberty in two.

She recently authored the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law.Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza before immigrating to America in 1978, when she was eight years old. Her father died while leading covert attacks on Israel . He was a high-ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza .

When he died, he was considered a "shahid," a martyr for jihad. His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society.
But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age. She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing.. She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television.
In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping shariah law - what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.

For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed. Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual. Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world.

Peace and prosperity for one's children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world.

While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule, Shariah teaches two systems of ethics - one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims. Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Shariah encourages the side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others.

While Westerners tend to think in terms of religious people developing a personal understanding of and relationship with God, Shariah advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism.

It's hard to imagine, that in this day and age, Islamic scholars agree that those who criticize Islam or choose to stop being Muslim should be executed. Sadly, while talk of an Islamic reformation is common and even assumed by many in the West, such murmurings in the Middle East are silenced through intimidation.

While Westerners are accustomed to an increase in religious tolerance over time, Darwish explains how petro dollars are being used to grow an extremely intolerant form of political Islam in her native Egypt and elsewhere.

(In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. And Britain To elect the President by themselves! Rest assured they will do so... You can look at how they have taken over several towns in the USA .. Dearborn Mich. Is one... And there are others....) ( Britain has several cities now totally controlled by Muslims)

I think everyone in the U.S. And Great Britain Should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!
It is too bad that so many are disillusioned with life and Christianity to accept Muslims as peaceful.. Some may be but they have an army that is willing to shed blood in the name of Islam.. The peaceful support the warriors with their finances and own kind of patriotism to their religion. While America and Britain are getting rid of Christianity from all public sites and erasing God from the lives of children the Muslims are planning a great jihad on America .. (and Britain ) ..

This is your chance to make a difference...! Pass it on to your email list or at least those you think will listen..

Some of those I'm sending it to WILL NOT! Put your head back under the covers so you can't see the boogie man!

PASTOR'S ASS.

The Pastor's Ass
The Pastor entered his donkey in a race and
it won.

The Pastor was so pleased with the donkey
that he entered it in the race again and it won again.

The local paper read:
PASTOR'S
ASS OUT FRONT
.
The Bishop was so upset with this kind of
publicity that he ordered the Pastor not to enter the donkey in another race.

The next day the local paper headline read:

BISHOP
SCRATCHES
PASTOR'S
ASS.
This was too much for the Bishop so he ordered the Pastor to get rid of the donkey.

The Pastor decided to give it to a Nun in a
nearby convent.

The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day:

NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN.

The Bishop fainted.

He informed the Nun that she would have to
get rid of the donkey so she sold it to a farmer for $10.
The next day the paper read:

NUN
SELLS ASS FOR $10.

This was too much for the Bishop so he ordered the Nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild.

The next day the headlines read:

NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE.
The ! Bishop was buried the next day.

The moral of the story is . . . being
concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery .. ... even shorten your life.

So be yourself and enjoy life.

Stop worrying about everyone else's ass and
you'll be a lot happierand live longer!

Have a nice day!
