Christmas Trees From Around The World
What's really interesting at the end is the real meaning of the 12 days of Christmas - I didn't know that...
Make sure you go all the way to the bottom of the e-mail, the picture and information about Arlington Cemetery in the winter, before Christmas is beautiful!

The Capitol Christmas tree in Washington, D.C., is decorated with 3,000 ornaments that are the handiwork of U.S. schoolchildren. Encircling evergreens in the 'Pathway of Peace' represent the 50 U.S. states.

The world's largest Christmas tree display rises up the slopes of Monte Ingino outside of Gubbio, in Italy's Umbria region. Composed of about 500 lights connected by 40,000 feet of wire, the 'tree' is a modern marvel for an ancient city

A Christmas tree befitting Tokyo 's nighttime neon display is projected onto the exterior of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka.

Illuminating the Gothic facades of Prague's Old Town Square, and casting its glow over the manger display of the famous Christmas market, is a grand tree cut in the Sumava mountains in the southern Czech Republic.

Venice 's Murano Island renowned throughout the world for its quality glasswork is home to the tallest glass tree in the world. Sculpted by master glass blower Simone Cenedese, the artistic Christmas tree is a modern reflection of the holiday season.

Moscow celebrates Christmas according to the Russian Orthodox calendar on Jan. 7. For weeks beforehand, the city is alive with festivities in anticipation of Father Frost's arrival on his magical troika with the Snow Maiden. He and his helper deliver gifts under the New Year tree, or yolka, which is traditionally a fir.

The largest Christmas tree in Europe (more than 230 feet tall) can be found in the Pra'a do Com'rcio in Lisbon, Portugal. Thousands of lights adorn the tree, adding to the special enchantment of the city during the holiday season.

'Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree': Even in its humblest attire, aglow beside a tiny chapel in Germany's Karwendel mountains, a Christmas tree is a wondrous sight.

Ooh la la Galeries Lafayette! In Paris , even the Christmas trees are chic. With its monumental, baroque dome, plus 10 stories of lights and high fashion, it's no surprise this show-stopping department store draws more visitors than the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower

In addition to the Vatican 's heavenly evergreen, St. Peter's Square in Rome hosts a larger-than-life nativity scene in front of the obelisk.

The Christmas tree that greets revelers at the Puerta del Sol is dressed for a party. Madrid 's two-week celebration makes millionaires along with merrymakers. On Dec. 22, a lucky citizen will win El Gordo (the fat one), the world's biggest lottery.

A token of gratitude for Britain 's aid during World War II, the Christmas tree in London 's Trafalgar Square has been the annual gift of the people of Norway since 1947.

Drink a glass of gluhwein from the holiday market at the Romer, Frankfurt 's city hall since 1405 and enjoy a taste of Christmas past.

Against a backdrop of tall, shadowy firs, a rainbow trio of Christmas trees lights up the night (location unknown).
There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
This week, I found out.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.-
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke &John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.

-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.

-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness,
 Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.

-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.

-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...so pass it on if you wish.'
Merry Christmas Everyone

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one of the poorest parts of the state.

Here is proof that  husbands do listen to their wives.

Milk  and eggs

This  is a story which is perfectly logical to all males:

A wife asks her  husband,
"Could you please go  shopping for me and buy one carton of milk,
And  if they have eggs, get 6."

A short time later the husband comes back with  6 cartons of milk.
The wife asks him,  "Why did you buy 6 cartons of milk?"

He replied, "They had  eggs."

(I'm  sure you're going back to read it again!)

GUN POSTERS!

PONDERING LIFE......

As I was lying in bed pondering the problems of the world,I rapidly realized that I don't really give a rat's hind end. It's the tortoise life for me!
1.. If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
2.. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, and is fat.
3.. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
4.. A tortoise doesn't run and does nothing, yet it lives for 450 years.
And you tell me to exercise?? I don't think so.
I'm retired. Go around me.
God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now that I'm older here's what I've discovered:
1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.
2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and all-bran.

3. I finally got my head together, and now my body is falling apart.
4. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded.

5. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded.

6. If all is not lost, where is it?

7. It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.

8. Some days, you're the dog; some days you're the hydrant.

9. I wish the buck stopped here; I sure could use a few.

10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.

11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.

12. It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere.

13. The only time the world beats a path to your door is when you're in the bathroom.

14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he'd have put them on
my knees.

15. When I'm finally holding all the cards, why does everyone want to play chess?

16. Its not hard to meet expenses . . . they're everywhere.

17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter . . .I go somewhere to get something, and then wonder what I'm hereafter
19. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded.

20. DID I SEND THESE TO YOU BEFORE..........??????

WHY WE NEED MORE GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS AND FEDERAL IDIOTS IN CHARGE

 Rules are Rules

The Good news:It was a normal day in Sharon Springs, Kansas, when a Union Pacific crew boarded a loaded coal train for the long trek to Salina.
The Bad news:Just a few miles into the trip a wheel bearing became overheated and melted, letting a metal support drop down and grind on the rail, creating white hot molten metal droppings spewing down to the rail.
The Good news:A very alert crew noticed smoke about halfway back in the train and immediately stopped the train in compliance with the Governmental Regulations.
The Bad news:The train stopped with the hot wheel over a wooden bridge with creosote ties and trusses. When crew tried to explain to higher-ups they needed to move the train, they were instructed not to move the train because Federal Regulations prohibit moving the train when a part is defective. Well okee-dokey then, and the pictures tell the rest. As always the Government knows what is best for us.

REMEMBER, RULES ARE RULES!Don't ever let common sense get in the way of a Government Regulation.
And now they will decide your health care ! !

Americana Week: A Patriotic Alternative To Kwanzaa

As an American, I hereby offer the following observance, 'Americana Week, " as a patriotic alternative to Kwanzaa.

Starting Dec 26th-January 1st, 2012, I suggest using each to day to remember how we helped fellow Americans during these challenging times.

Recalling and sharing best practices from our common tradition is its goal.

Let's recap each year as a way to unite Americans, as opposed to Kwanzaa's separatism. I used to participate in Kwanzaa, but found its cumbersome ritual and focus to be socialism draped in east African lore.

Socialists have thoroughly infiltrated American Black culture to such an extent that I refer to it as a " Soviet client state " which ironically outlived the old Soviet Union.

Outcast group think is down loaded into young minds from every institution within our infected infrastructure. Once mainstream organizations like churches and the NAACP now merely offer less extreme socialism than bombastic militants.

Recognizing our heritage is fine- so long as we incorporate our American identity into the recognition. Promoting a " we're outcasts " mentality only creates more of what we don't need: criminals; con artists and otherwise responsible stakeholders who enable them.

Kwanzaa's founder, Maulana Karenga, is accused of torturing women; fostering violence against other nationalists and inventing this observance for less than noble reasons.

Its obsession with indoctrinating participants into a decidedly collectivist identity is at odds with their American one. This feature alone raised red flags in my mind for decades.

It overall lack of relevance in our daily lives was the other concern. As American citizens in the 21st Century, just how useful is seeing ourselves as outcasts in a hostile land?

That's why Americana Week crossed my mind.

American Blacks, like everyone else, should recount people; events and movements which helped America this year.

Our future rests upon how well unite as communities and countrymen to address challenges affecting all of us- regardless of ethnicity or creed.

That's why Americana Week is a patriotic alternative to Kwanzaa. Its focus isn't on creating outcasts like Karenga desired.

Americana Week seeks to share best practices from the past year in order to make the next year (s) better.

The best part is all Americans can share this week as the extended family we are!

Obama Announces New Federal Golf Rules

December 26, 2012 by Dan Mitchell
I’ve never criticized President Obama for playing a lot of golf. As far as I’m concerned, the nation is in much better shape when politicians spend a lot of time goofing off.

But I’m more than happy to use golf as a humor prop to make a serious points about public policy.

Earlier this year, for instance, I shared this golfing cartoon to help emphasize that Obama has been a big spender.

Let’s build upon that cartoon with a bit of humor sent to me by a friend from the Caribbean.

Here’s some new rules for golf, based on Obama’s soak-the-rich/entrap-the-poor approach to fiscal policy.

===========================================================

President B.H.O. has recently appointed a Golf Czar.

Major rule changes in the game of golf will become effective January, 20 2013.

This is only a preview as the complete rule book (expect 2716 pages) is being rewritten as we speak.

Here are a few of the changes:

Golfers with handicaps:
- Below 10 will have their green fees increased by 35%.
- Between 11 and 18 will see no increase in green fees.
- Above 18 will get a $20 check each time they play.

The term “gimmie” will be changed to “entitlement” and will be used as follows:
- Handicaps below 10, no entitlements.
- Handicaps from 11 to 17, entitlements for putter length putts.
- Handicaps above 18, if your ball is on the green, no need to putt, just pick it up.

These entitlements are intended to bring about fairness and, most importantly, equality in scoring.

In addition, a Player will be limited to a maximum of one birdie or six pars in any given 18-hole round.

Any excess must be given to those fellow players who have not yet scored a birdie or par.

Only after all players have received a birdie or par from the player actually making the birdie or par, can that player begin to count his pars and birdies again.

The current USGA handicap system will be used for the above purposes, but the term “net score” will be available only for scoring those players with handicaps of 18 and above.

This is intended to “re-distribute” the success of winning by making sure that in all competitions every Player above an 18 handicap will post only “net score” against every other player’s “gross score”.

These new Rules are intended to CHANGE the game of golf.

Golf must be about Fairness.

It should have nothing to do with ability, hard work, practice, and responsibility.

This is the “Right thing to do.”

So, please remember; if you shot a round of golf under par, you didn’t shoot it yourself. Someone else built that course, and someone else cut the grass so that you could play on it. Someone else built the clubs and the cart.

You need to share with everyone and anyone who made you a successful golfer.

======================================================

The “Entitleist” photo is a great touch.

Though it’s very dark humor for someone like me who believes in self reliance and favors entitlement reform.

P.S. Have you ever wondered how America’s Declaration of Independence would look if our friends from the left had been in charge?

A Humorous Look at Obama’s Screwy Budget Math
May 31, 2012 by Dan Mitchell
I’ve been quite involved in the debate over which Presidents were big spenders.

I started with an analytical post that crunched the data from the Office of Management and Budget, and I showed that Obama was only a fiscal conservative if you ignored the budget impact of the TARP bailout.

I then augmented that analysis with a second post showing in more detail that Obama deserves a bad grade because of spending on social welfare programs.

Last but not least, my most recent post stated that Bush also was a big spender and I cited Jonah Goldberg’s excellent column suggesting that Romney should admit that Republicans bear some blame for the fiscal mess in Washington.

So we’ve been entirely too serious about this topic. Time for some cartoons! We’ll start with this gem from Eric Allie.

Now let’s look at a good one from Lisa Benson. The dirt being swept under the carpet is TARP, of course.

I think that’s the first cartoon I’ve used from Mr. Allie, but I have shared Ms. Benson’s work before. You can find some of my favorites here, here, here and here.

P.S. Getting back to the serious issue, much of the debate over Obama’s spending record revolves around TARP, but there’s also some discussion of how to divvy up blame for spending in Bush’s last fiscal year (FY2009, which began October 1, 2008). You can find some of my analysis on that issue here and here.

I wish I could draw. I would have Obama as the bratty niece in Finding Nemo holding the bag with the fish (the economy) and shaking it. Drops of water flying off (various and sundry economy killing ideas) caption: Why won’t you work? Or Open your eyes!

While Bush did expand some federal programs, those pretty much occurred when it appeared there was money available to make some positive change. Most of Bush’s ‘Big Spending’ came in the aftermath of 9-11 to get the economy back moving, creating and ramping up Homeland Security programs, the War on Terror (both Afghanistan and Iraq), and the recovery efforts of both hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The TARP program that came out of Bush’s time was created without either Bush’s nor the republicans input, and Bush was more or less misguided (as most were at that moment in time) into approving it because of the “Massive Economic Depression” we faced which it was supposed to alleviate. Yes, Bush can be blamed for his big spending… but at least he had some excuse.

While the shooting at Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary School has prompted a national gun control debate, President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder will still push to allow immigrants to purchase firearms more easily.

Normally, the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) requires legal aliens to live in a state for 90 days before buying a gun. The ATF does this through a rule attached to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
In June, Holder’s DOJ proposed to eliminate that 90-day residency requirement rule.
“This rule would finalize the interim final rule published on June 7, 2012 by removing the 90-day State residency requirement for aliens lawfully present in the United States to purchase or acquire a firearm,” the proposal to eliminate that requirement reads in part. “The Department has determined that the Gun Control Act does not permit ATF to impose a regulatory requirement that aliens lawfully present in the United States are subject to a 90-day State residency requirement when such a requirement is not applicable to U.S. citizens.”
The move to allow aliens easier access to firearms is now in its final stages.
The new rule is expected to reach its final stages in April 2013. That means it will either pass or be discarded.
The mass shootings nationwide over the past year, including the one at Sandy Hook elementary school, have not stopped Holder and Obama from pushing to make it easier for aliens to get guns.
While the administration makes it easier for legal aliens to get guns, Obama, Holder, and congressional Democrats have expressed a desire to restrict gun sales to American citizens.
In the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting, Obama has called for the reinstatement of the “Assault Weapons Ban” that President Bill Clinton’s administration passed in the 1990s. The “Assault Weapons Ban” expired during President George W. Bush’s administration.
"Like the majority of Americans, I believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms," Obama said last week. “It's encouraging that many gun owners have stepped up this week to say there are steps we can take to prevent more tragedies like the one in Newtown."
"Here's what I think we should do,” Obama added. “This week I called on Congress to take up and pass common-sense legislation that has the support of the majority of the American people, including banning the sale of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips, and making sure criminals can't take advantage of legal loopholes to get their hands on a gun."

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?

Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago;
221 killed in Iraq AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in
the entire US.

Does THAT tell you anything?????

President:--Barack Hussein Obama

Senator: Dick Durbin

House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.

Governor: Pat Quinn

House leader: Mike Madigan

Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)

Mayor: Rahm Emanuel

The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.

Of course, they're all blaming each other.

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.

(Look 'em up if you want).

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.

And...... he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us???! You BET.

THE FIX WAS IN - 2012 Election Details

Good news, it turns out that Mitt won the election after all. I was really worried. What a relief!

Subject: Re: Election Details

As each state reports their final election details, the evidence of voter fraud is astounding. Massive voter fraud is being reported in areas of OH and FL, with PA, WI and VA all deploying personnel to investigate election results.

For starters, here are just a few examples of what has surfaced with much more to come.

· In 59 voting districts in the Philadelphia region, Obama received 100% of the votes with not even a single vote recorded for Romney. (a mathematical and statistical impossibility – see below)

· In 21 districts in Wood County Ohio, Obama received 100% of the votes where GOP inspectors were illegally removed from their polling locations - and not one single vote was recorded for Romney. (a statistical impossibility – see below)

· In Wood County Ohio, 106,258 voters were registered to vote in a county with only 98,213 eligible voters.

· In St. Lucie County, FL, there were 175,574 registered eligible voters but 247,713 votes cast.

· The National SEAL Museum, a polling location in St. Lucie County, FL had a 158% voter turnout – the highest voter overage in entire the country – second was Palm Beach County, FL with a 141% voter turnout overage.

· In Ohio County, Obama won by 108% of the total number of eligible voters.

NOTE: Obama won in every state that DID NOT require a Photo ID and lost in every state that DID require a Photo ID in order to vote. See state by state details below:

The University of Colorado Department of Political Science Electoral Vote projection is THE most accurate presidential election model in our history. They were the ONLY source that correctly called the 1980 Reagan/Carter results. They have correctly modeled EVERY presidential election since with their projected electoral totals never off by more than 1%.

Their method is NOT a standard political poll process. They include complex algorithms that includes key economic, employment and social measures. They build their models state by state to assure sufficient granularity for top accuracy. It is mathematically possible that statistical error could cause them to incorrectly project ONE state. But it is mathematically impossible for them to incorrectly project more than one. Their 2012 model projected Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia for the Romney/Ryan ticket. The results reported by those secretaries of state were different.

Add to this the survey data showing the Democrat ticket losing support from 2008 among Blacks, Jews, Catholics and Independents, and the results reported for the above-named states are mathematically impossible.

Subject: One of the best emails I have read about the election

Don't know who this Pastor is but he hit the nail on the head. As for me, he straightened me out as I was so disappointed and disheartened that Romney did not win. What a wonderful attitude this man has. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

I like many Americans was deeply saddened by the reelection of Obama on Tuesday, was quick to be ashamed of America and the people who voted for him and also questioned why God would allow this to happen. Today I started to reflect upon what happened and why. Then it hit me that I wasn't trusting God and He is still in control! Perhaps God in his wisdom knew that Romney was not the right choice for us at this time. Perhaps God in his wisdom knew that whomever got elected was going to face huge problems and why shouldn't Obama be the one to shoulder that responsibility. After all he is the one who has misled, lied to the American people, and has further plans for the destruction of our Country as we have known and loved it. He now has to "inherit" his own mess and can't blame it on someone else. The media would have crucified Romney over the next four years for "ruining" Obama's hope and change plans and blamed him for all the problems. I believe that our God will show this nation what happens when you allow Godless people to manage the gifts this nation has to offer and He provided for us. I believe He will expose Obama once and for all for the failure he is and our corrupt media will not be able to save him. I also believe that Obama's attitude and treatment of Israel is not looked upon by God as obeying his command and Obama will have to answer for that. We have another Congressional election coming up in two years and maybe we can get rid of some of the democratic critters that occupy Congress today. Maybe in four years we can run a ticket for President and Vice President like Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio. Maybe when America again suffers serious setbacks, people will realize what a weak and corrupt management team we have and be tired of it. I will not question God's wisdom or plans He has for us again, because He is in control and has always done what's best for us. We are reminded that prayer isn't always answered in the way we would like at the time, but God does answer our prayers in His time and in a way that is best for His children. So, let's keep the Faith, lay our worries at His feet and trust God to take care of us!
This was on my heart today and I hope you all don't mind my expressing these thoughts to you. I am in need of strength, encouragement and understanding as are so many of the faithful and good Americans in our Country today!

PRAY FOR AMERICA !
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land
