As the famed economist Milton Freedman once remarked, “there is no such thing as a free lunch.” Or in the esteemed words of Isaac Newton, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

The action – President Obama signs a memorandum to update and extend overtime pay to “white collar” workers …

Today, millions of Americans aren’t getting the extra pay they deserve. That’s because an exception that was originally meant for high-paid, white-collar employees now covers workers earning as little as $23,660 a year. So if you’re making $23,000, typically, you’re not high in management. If your salary is even a dollar above the current threshold, you may not be guaranteed overtime. It doesn't matter if what you do is mostly physical work like stocking shelves, it doesn't matter if you’re working 50 or 60 or 70 hours a week -- your employer doesn't have to pay you a single extra dime.
And I think that’s wrong. It doesn’t make sense that in some cases this rule actually makes it possible for salaried workers to be paid less than the minimum wage. It’s not right when business owners who treat their employees fairly can be undercut by competitors who aren’t treating their employees right. If you’re working hard, you’re barely making ends meet, you should be paid overtime. Period. Because working Americans have struggled through stagnant wages for too long. Remember the last time Obama used the word period – you lost your doctor, your health plan, and your hospital, now you are in danger of losing a portion of your income.

Of course, this is a blatant political appear to the so-called “middle class” worker and is reminiscent of the class warfare – workers against owners – that is the prevalent basis of the progressive socialist democrat’s attempt to move away from capitalism towards socialism and communism.

The reaction – Employers will monitor overtime more closely, and in some cases will turn more towards outsourcing, independent contractors, and part-time workers.

But, beyond the effects seen by the workers, there is a vicious underlying problem inherent in government-mandated wage and price controls. That is, the costs of additional labor will be factored into the pricing of goods and services in such a way that consumer’s will ultimately bear the burden of the President Obama’s political actions. And, with rising prices will come rising taxes, something that does not escape those government entities seek to enlarge the scope, size, and budgets of their departments and agencies. Even worse, the rise in labor comes without any corresponding offset in raising productivity. With the net effect that President Obama can claim he is doing something for the so-called middle class much in the same manner as he transfers multiple millions in taxpayer dollars to purchase a favorable “photo op” or agreement.

Bottom line …

President Obama’s political gains come at a real cost to the average consumer and taxpayer. In essence, the progressive socialist democrats, like all dishonest and corrupt politicians, are misdirecting taxpayer money from the creation, repair, or replacement of this nation’s critical infrastructure to the process of purchasing votes from voters, and campaign contributions from special interests such as the progressive socialist democrat labor unions.

Be extremely critical when the President of the United States, Barack Obama, and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats in Congress provide benefits and entitlements that do nothing to improve the economy of the United States and the healthcare of its citizens. In Obama’s world, it is all about power, money, and privilege – and like any elitist, the message is “don’t do as I do, do as I say/”

Throw all of the progressive socialist democrat bastards and their RINO (Republican In Name Only) counterparts out. Vote for a more honest and ethical government. Demand that the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Justice Department reportedly blocked FBI probe over Reid, Lee accusations
The Justice Department reportedly has blocked the FBI from launching a federal probe into accusations involving Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, leaving agents to work with local prosecutors to examine the evidence on the side.
The Washington Times reported Friday that two local Utah prosecutors, one Democrat and one Republican, are now working on a wide-ranging corruption investigation. As part of that, they apparently uncovered accusations of wrongdoing by the two U.S. senators.
But the Justice Department reportedly blocked FBI agents from using a federal grand jury and subpoenas to test whether they or other officials committed any violations.

Enough!

Watch your back, wallet, and balls … because a dangerous attempt to preserve the power of progressive socialist democrats in this upcoming congressional election cycle. So, with the ends having been predetermined, any means, fair or foul, is acceptable to progressive socialist democrats.

Fatal 210 shooting in Sylmar likely sparked by road rage; gunman at large
A man was shot and killed in an apparent case of road rage on the 210 Freeway in Sylmar earlyFriday morning. Authorities say the victim was driving westbound on the 210 in his black Mitsubishi Eclipse shortly before 1 a.m. when a driver in another vehicle opened fire. It appeared the victim was shot through the driver's side window.
The Eclipse came to a stop on an embankment on the Roxford Street off-ramp. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Pacoima resident Sergio Sanchez.
The exact reason for the shooting remains unknown, but detectives believe the incident involved road rage. LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon said the victim lived locally and was likely coming from or going to work. Investigators said this was a "one-way" shooting: Sanchez did not have a gun. Authorities also said the victim did not have any gang or criminal ties.
Detectives said they will look into other reports of shots fired, which came in around 11 p.m. near Fenton and Tyler streets, about one mile from the car shooting scene. Responding LAPD officers did not find any witnesses or victims in that case. Vernon said given the two-hour gap between the incidents, it's unlikely the cases are related.

Driver shot to death on 110 off-ramp -- The 19-year-old woman's vehicle was fired upon several times in South Los Angeles, police say.
A female motorist was fatally shot early Thursday on a Harbor Freeway off-ramp in South Los Angeles, police said. The attack occurred as Samantha Padilla, 19, of Los Angeles was getting off the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway at West Slauson Avenue shortly after midnight, police said.
A brown 1990 or 1991 Ford Bronco pulled up next to Padilla's car at a stop light after she had gotten off the freeway, and someone inside opened fire, said Richard French, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Investigators were looking into several possible scenarios for the shooting, including gang activity and road rage, and whether Padilla knew the shooter.

Gunman Sought in 91 Freeway Shooting That Injured 2 Men
Gunfire struck two men on a freeway in Bellflower Thursday night and authorities are searching for others wanted in the shooting, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two victims were driving westbound on the 91 Freeway at Bellflower Boulevard about 8:40 p.m. when multiple rounds were fired into the driver’s side by occupants of a grey 2003 Honda Accord, according to a CHP release.One victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition; the other was struck in the arm, CHP Officer Tatiana Sauquillo said.

Dissembling?

Asked in an interview on KTLA-TV Channel 5 whether he believed some of the freeway shootings could be gang initiations, LAPD Chief William J. Bratton noted that only a tiny percentage of homicides each year take place on highways.
"Millions of people every day travel the freeways of Los Angeles, and about 1% of our murders every year happen on the freeways," Bratton said.
"You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than getting shot on the freeway," he said. "Freeways are still safer than other areas." <Source>

Notice that Chief Bratton never answers the question.

Bottom line …

Not all gang shootings are based on gang affiliations or someone taking offense. Among gangs, some use the blooding ritual to demonstrate comittment to the gang and to insure that the prospective member is not a police officer. In this case, late-night drivers present low-risk targets.

It is becoming apparent that areas that support a significant minority community are becoming increasingly unsafe for residents. The progressive socialist democrats, with their gun control and political correctness, appear extremely reluctant to label any minority gang as domestic terrorists – although that is exactly what we appear to be facing. These are the guys with the illegal guns – guns possessed by felons, by illegal aliens, loaded guns carried in cars, and by people who do not purchase guns through legal means. The strongest and strictest gun control does not affect criminals and crazies – it only creates a larger pool of victims unable to defend themselves and their loved ones.
