Which movie will she blame this time? Susan Rice to brief Congress about Syria on one-year anniversary of Benghazi
**Written by Doug Powers
Wrong and disrespectful on numerous levels:
Susan Rice, who falsely told the nation that the terrorist attacks in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012 had developed out of a spontaneous demonstration against a YouTube video, will mark the one year anniversary of those attacks by briefing Congress to make the administration’s case for authorizing President Barack Obama to use military force in Syria.
The administration has decided to make Rice a key point person for pushing military intervention in Syria.
[...]
House Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers (R.-Mich.), who supports taking military action against the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad to punish that regime for using chemical weapons, said on Sunday that President Obama’s sending of Rice to brief Congress about Syria on the anniversary of Benghazi was emblematic of the administration’s bad relations with the House of Representatives.“The president hasn’t made the case,” said Rogers on CBS’s Face the Nation. “Again, it’s confounding. They’re going to send up this week–think about this, this tells you the relationship with Congress, and it’s not great: They’re sending up Susan Rice to brief Congress on the year anniversary of Benghazi. And they’re trying to win votes. I mean the credibility gap there is huge.”
The full story is here.
Now, in fairness to the administration, who could they send to brief Congress whose veracity wouldn’t have good reason to be doubted? James Clapper? Who’s left to go to in the integrity bullpen?
Flashback: Keeping in mind that President Obama claimed he referred to Benghazi as an “act of terror” one day after the attack, here’s Susan Rice five days after the attack clinging to the “spontaneous demonstration” over the video” story (because everybody shows up to “spontaneous demonstrations with heavy weaponry):
And of course that’s the kind of firm grip on intel — but more importantly, loyalty to the talking points — that gets you promoted to national security adviser.
